The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has remitted N3.51 billion to the Federal Government as the surplus generated from the conduct of the board’s 2021Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), Newspremises reports.

In a statement issued by the examination body and signed by its head of public affairs and protocol unit, Fabian Benjamin noted that the remittance “is in line with Prof. Is-haq Oloyede’s avowed commitment to prudent management of public resources.”

He said the processes adopted brought attendant savings, yielding the humongous remittances to government coffers.

The statement said ”the remittance has been the norm rather than the exception in the last six years beginning from 2016 when he remitted the whopping sum of N7b and repeated same in subsequent years.

”It is pertinent to note that one of the direct benefits of the sustained remittances by the Prof. Oloyede-led management manifested in the reduction of the cost of the application documents (UTME and DE) by candidates from N5000 to N3500 in 2018 by President Muhammadu Buhari.”

He said the singular act has ensured the 'annual transfer" of over N3b to the pockets of parents and guardians of candidates as a consequence of the slash in the price of UTME forms.

”The Board as led by Prof Ishaq Oloyede would continue to prune down the cost of governance and release resources for other needy national prioritize areas”, the statement said.

Yes but it is a risky vehicle if the engines are bad or not productive enough. The engines here being Nigerians.
The best investment any government can make is to make it's people prosperous through innovation and creativity based education (not academic) and promotion of industrial revolution targeting even the smallest localities. If we can succeed with that the people themselves will indirectly create the infrastructures like we already are doing how many of us are the one providing our pipe borne water ourselves.

The only route to creating a prosperous nation that will not fail is to focus on common wealth mechanism first and later on other benefits can follow

Without human development, the infrastructures will be wasted. Awolowo focus on universal education and primary healthcare in the 1950s by the 1980s Western Nigeria had a literacy rate of 85% and an environment suitable for investment and development.

Do you know that Awolowo achieve most of those educational impacts without building more schools. Some of our parents were taught under trees but as the economy grew the walled schools began to emerge.

If they really need our crude commodities then they should be ready to localize their industries here, the infrastructure of a thing has become so fraudulent that they either don't get completed or not completed on time or not completed at all because the funds have become national cake

You are talking about food security which has been given due attention by this government. Yet, what will aid your assertion is massive infrastructural development. That's only what some western world have that attracted investment in both local and FDI which in turn massively contributed to their human development and standard of living. A sizeable portion of Nigeria are not lazy in anyway but no job!

So there is food security, why then is bag of beans now about 100k and bag of rice still about 25k. Mean while the World Bank predicted that North East will soon experience hunger strike due to the economic situation.

With basic infrastructures there can be jobs, no need to go for ones that will take 30 years of debt servicing to be paid for and eventually the infrastructures would have failed before the 30 years. Meanwhile statistics proved to me that those infrastructures do not provide the real jobs we need to grow our economy

Bro I am a civil engineer by training in the roads and high way option, I can boldly tell you that Government do not have to borrow money to build roads, as a matter of facts industries should build roads and not government. Same with rail, Government can provide the rails but not necessarily the couches. During the time America was more functional economically before they allowed third party influences that led to the great depression, rail lines where built by individuals and businesses.

If you develop human without infrastructure, they will leave your country for countries with infrastructure. Look at Nigerian doctors and nurses. We develop them but they leave in droves every year to countries like Saudi, UK, US. Countries that have infrastructure.

Human development has limited life span. 10-15years tops and it has continuous for life. Infrastructure development has a longer life span 25 to sometimes 100years.

Let me give you an example.

Look at the third mainland bridge that was built in 1990. Do you know how many millions of developed human passes on top of it daily?

Take your secondary and tertiary schools for example. They’re infrastructures. Do you know how many millions of human development has taken place in that infrastructure?

We need more of those infrastructures to build more human development. Whether you develop human or you don’t, human being will always find a way to develop himself cos it human nature to survive and the only way to survive is development but human cannot develop or survive without infrastructure/tools and those tools/infrastructures won’t develop themselves.

I am not against infrastructural development all I am saying is that at the moment it is great error to focus on accumulating debt on infrastructures that do not stand the test of time. I have read numbers of economic development books ranging from decades to centuries and I can boldly tell you that the perspective that you have to put infrastructural development first before human Development is a scam.
It is better you spend more money on making the people stable so that they can be more healthy, creative and productive and then they will build the infrastructures themselves than borrowing money that will be siphoned and have minimal impacts on the prime focus which is infrastructures.
Take note, a wise government will focus on people's development and human resource development before talking about infrastructures. People makes countries and not infrastructures, no matter how you do it the need for more infrastructures will not end but most importantly than infrastructures is putting those who will use it and create them for us in good condition.
Why can't we borrow money to develop our industries such that each local government have up to 10 industries so that people will not have to rush to Lagos and Abuja.
Let the Industries come first, then tie the infrastructural development to those industries, place an infrastructural tax after pushing those industries to the local government and use the fund raise for developing infrastructures in the community or better still let a particular percentage coming from each Industry annually be committed to infrastructural development.
We don't have to borrow, there are different routes to it.
I am not boasting, If I were to be in the seat of the executive governor of like my state I would have experimented with it and i am sure it will be functional best they are principle based and not theoritically churned.
The goal of every nation builder should be COMMON WEALTH first and foremost before anything

Health Care is not Infrastructure. Meanwhile I am not against infrastructures but borrowing money to drive infrastructural growth when we are already 50 years behind the scenes.
If I should ask you assuming you were given 10 billion Naira and you were to use it for business which will you go for between the two
1. An investment that will give you up to 4 to 5 billion Naira or more by the end of the year.
2. A building project that will take years to be completed and about 15 years to get returns on investment

The economic theories by Havard, Stanford, Cambridge and Oxford Universities among others emphasize on using debt spending for growing any economy. Then they award scholarships to our best brains who eventually become political leaders and financial institution heads since they have brain washed them with those ideologies. No much work, they will keep running with what they have taught them.
Can you imagine the President and the Finance Minister saying we will borrow our way out of recession.When you hear that, your minds should go to the era of Great depression between 1918 and 1940s when Maynard Keynes the British Economist promoted his economic theories of debt spending under the cover of micro and macro Economics.
The question is this when are we going to own our own economic ideologies and theories that we make us independent and interdependent

Yeah, I did that a great deal. It's called being a vast reader. It equips u more to leverage on ur open-mindedness.

It really helped me, there is literally anything that I have not been paid for. I remember last year someone called me to advise him about ulcer and the best options for solving it just after the patient left the doctor who gave some recommendations which were confusing 5o them. I explained the whole thing to him and what need to be done and how to go about them, the results yield the expected result's. Let me add this too, I pray for sick people too
