36STATES: If any of you writing these things here had lost money in the stock market crash of 2008 you would have known that Soludo was a disaster. Solude is a big time crook and doesn't have the qualification and the uprightness to run a sensitive institution like CBN. Sanusi is the best thing that happened to the central bank ever. Though a lot of corruption is still going on there, but that is a discussion for another day. Soludo was 100% aware of all the thieving happening in the banks by people like Mrs Ibru of Oceanic, Erastus Akingbole of GTB etc. OBJ, Soludo and Ndi Onyiuke was real axis of evil for investors in Nigeria when they were heading there respective offices.Erastus Akingbole (sic) of GTB? Hmmm |
Sigoal: I tink you ar 4rm northern part of d country.ℓ☺ℓ I'm a yoruba boy that dreams of a great Nigeria where merit is exalted |
Are you sure of this? Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was MD of First Bank Nigeria before he was made CBN governor. He's a seasoned banker. This single error discredits your post. In 1985 Sanusi joined Icon Limited (Merchant Bankers), a subsidiary of Morgan Guaranty Trust Bank of New York, and Baring Brothers of London. He moved to the United Bank for Africa in 1997 in the Credit and Risk Management Division, rising to the position of a General Manager. In September 2005, he joined the Board of First Bank of Nigeria as an Executive Director in charge of Risk and Management Control, and was appointed Group Managing Director (CEO) in January 2009. He was also the Chairman, Kakawa Discount House and sat on the Board of FBN Bank (UK) Limited.[1] Sanusi is recognized in the banking industry for his contribution towards developing a Risk Management culture in the Nigerian banking sector.[5] First Bank is Nigeria's oldest bank and one of the biggest financial institutions in Africa.[6] Sanusi was the first Northerner to be appointed CEO in First Bank's history of more than a century.[7] http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanusi_Lamido_Sanusi It shows you're trying to imply a particular section of the country do not merit what they get. Why don't you look for more positive things to write about. Even if you want to dwell on our differences, highlight the positive aspects also. |

I've been thinking of creating a thread about the ways the pension managers steals people's hard earned monies for 35 yrs, under the sun and in the rain. * Once it is time to get your gratuity, you will have to bribe your way through. One annoying part is that, somebody who's supposed to take home #5million as his/her gratuity will end up getting #2.5million. I have had an experience with one of these PFAs, service was superb. Problem is most people do not know what the pension act stipulates If you ask them, they will tell you that they are to keep the other half with which they will put to good use to make gains, from which they will be paying one's pension for 15 yrs. The essence of the pension fund is so that you have an income after you are retired. The law stipulates that half of total contribution should be given as a lump sum. The other half will be pad in equal installments over a specified period or transferred to ann insurance company who pays you for life. Another disgusting part is that, they will slash people's supposed pension into three halves, i.e if you used to get 60k as a salary before retirement, you'd be getting 19k as pension for the rest 15yrs. Tell me how you can manage or adjust. It's pure mathematics, you cant save 30 naira and expect to get 100 naira. If you're concerned about what you get as pension, ensure your employer deducts the appropriate amount from your salary and also contribute their part too. You are allowed to make voluntary contributions to your pension fund too. You truly cant have your cake and eat it. These days, in order to up an employee's take home pay abracadabras are done, one of these ways is to reduce your pension contribution. What most employees do not know is that it pays employers to do that because it reduces their liabilities while the maga employee is happy cos the take home pay is slightly higher. They don't tell you or give you details on the amount of gains they make from ur money, they will only pay you a specified amount of money no matter how much gain they make from ur money with them. They are mandated to give you regular reports on your account. And finally, after 15yrs, they return the other half to you and that's the end of you getting any money from them or the government. You have an option of taking up an annuity plan with any insurance company which pays you for life, though the monthly pay will be lesser NB: you don't get any other benefit or allowance Check this thread out. https://www.nairaland.com/1489204/how-pension-managers-cheating-nigerians |
Azwealth: HOW PENSION MANAGERS ARE CHEATING NIGERIANS@op i beg to say you are wrong. I have a relative that retired november 2012 and by february 2012, the pension was coming in. During this period, i was exposed to the processes involved. A lot of documentation was involved though but its just for verification. Bottom line is that half of your pension savings is given as a lump sum and the remaining is paid monthly in equal installments for an agreed amount of years. If one dies before the said number of years, the rest of the money is paid to the next of kin. If one outlives the number of years, the payment stops after the agreed number of years. Alternatevely, the pension company transfers your contributions to an insurance company which does basically same thing above except that your monthly payment is slightly reduced and they keep paying you till you pass on. The LETTER OF ADMINISTRATION is a legal thing and is usually required to absolve the payers of liabilities. A shortcut is to educate your loved ones to prepare a valid will stating all these things clearly. |
Adabar: Hello nairalander,Truth is that you owe him for the extra time you stayed in the house. In actual fact, he could not have legally evicted you from the said property except he had given you at least a 6 month notice that expires whenever your rent expires. This means that since your rent expired in may 2013, he should have given you a notice not later than december 2012. Since he missed that window he had till december 2013 to give you a notice that will expire in may 2014. Since you have moved out of the apartment you have to pay him for the extra months. I hope this is helpful. |
Take advantage of the situation to teach him about money. Make him earn money to buy some of the extra stuffs he wants you to buy for him. |
im supremely confident that many Nigerian graduates will accept such amount at the expense of their certificate. A right thinking graduate with his wealth of academic knowledge should make a good fortune out of such amount. In Nigeria where thugs are turning millionaires overnight, what actually can one certificate fetch one. pls be honest with ur opinion
A lot of Nigerians need their certificates to get jobs. Some of us have the knowledge and do not need the paper certificate to show it. So with $5m, entrepreneurship kicks in. ![]() |
[img][/img]For the pips who wonder why some of us think GEJ is clueless, check this out. While its an applaudable move to encourage car manufacturers to set up assembly plants in the country, I think the ban on tokunbo should come after these plants are up and running. Now that the ban came first, the cost of these new cars won't be competitive. |

I guess the general meaning of these responses is that the respondent does not particularly like these situations but choose not to complain. In other cases the respondents chooses to be modest with success. In summary, we have a society that tries to be modest with complaints or success ![]() |

solhenawo: Hello guys, I have noticed that the telecoms company in this country are not behaving responsibly. You can imagine giving your number ( unused phone number for six months) out to another person even when the number is registered with your details. It could happen that one is out of the country for more than 6 months. I think this trend should stop; once a number is registered with someone's details, it should be the person's forever.Thats standard for prepaid lines. Roam your line when ur outta thd country. ![]() |
