In simple terms, this means that a stock does not necessarily have to open at the previous days closing price, and does not also need to close at the last trading price in a given market day. (...irrespective of whether the last trade fulfilled the rule of a block volume, based on the given stock category)
Unlike before, these are no longer pre determined factors.
...that's basically what the NOOP/NOCP rule entails.
This is bound to encourage a wide but better volatility, increased market participation from both the retail and domestic portfolio investors.
Overall, the entirety of the new rule is very healthy, and would surely drive up a lot of liquidity in the market.

Though complicated, but any smart investor should know how to benefit from this rule.

...there is more to come !!
from what I observe no more price restriction based on d opening price. before now if a stock opened 5% lower it can't gain more than 5% higher of the previous day close, but right now onwards it can do 10% low and still close 10% up. I have experienced lots of rejected trades based on that previous rule

Reading thru certain post here, Its clear to see and also believe that most Nigerians are BAD people.
A few from amongst us here have a very ill disposed attitude and are ungrateful !!
Heaven knows that all my post (including the revelations), was NEVER with an intent to deceive. ...not even a single one of them.
Having some strong market/in-house contacts, I try to reveal what I hear or know and also guide with the necessary insider information ahead of time, so everyone can benefit from them.
I wasn't doing them in expectation of any kind of reward in return. (don't need any from anyone)
...I was doing them because I sincerely wouldn't wish for any investor to experience what I went thru between 2008 and 2014. ...especially the not-so-knowledgeable ones.
I still remember losing nearly 74M (over 40% of which, were funds that was put under my control to manage as at the time) from the share price fall of OCEANIC BANK and many moribund INSURANCE COYS and over 9M from the Govts ill decision to nationalize AFRIBANK. ...including other heavy and very painful losses.
My quest on NOT to wish those bitter experiences to any human, informed my decision and resolve to improve my financial know-how and also help with guiding as many as I could.
Those who know me and who have in one way or the other benefited from the many advise I gave them, can testify that I NEVER accept to receive any gift or money from anyone. ...not even when they plead with me to accept one.
...I simply tell them to try and extend unto others what I have done to them. (pay it forward)
However, I can now see that some bad eggs here are very UNGRATEFUL, ILL-HEARTED and of a BAD DISPOSITION.
I now also realise I should've taken the advise of 2 or 3 friends here before now.
...my good deeds have now turned against me !!

I shall do well to learn from this going forward.
bros no vex too much. I dey gbadun ur insightful and positive contribution. don't overreact. adjust ur approach but still take people as they come.

Africans always displaying inferiority complex. Why should there be a traffic congestion and lock down and curfew because a French president is visiting? Would they do the same if it was a Ghanaian president? Would France do same for our president if he visited them? Would they even do it for an American president? No; because the developed countries have a culture not to worship their leaders.

Former president Obama visited London several years ago and while he was there, the city of London said his driver broke a traffic rule and would have to pay $1 million fine. When are we going to start copying these good qualities?

I don't normally respond to mentions from a nincompoop. If you need to be educated about the coup, read Max Siollun's book.

I get irritated when idiots with low mentality disgrace themselves in a public fora by disputing facts without bringing nothing to the table.

This same moronic mentality is killing some zombies who thinks any town after Ore is Igbo.
take the facts home; we have kanuri in Nigeria , and we have kanuri in chad and Cameroon. they did not suffer mistaken identity as a result of that. though dialect may differ slightly. we have tiv in 3 different states and Yoruba's even in Benin republic. geographical demarcation does not change who they are.

Luxuryconsult:
we were talking about the beginning of coup in Nigeria. The man that started it all was fighting an unnecessary course for the igbos. He is the reason Nigeria has become like this. If he haven't started that coup killing all the hausas/Fulanis and yorubas in power, there wouldn't have bn something like Hausa counter coup which led to several other coups or before coups became a norm in Nigeria. Have you ever wondered why there have never for once bn any true love/love/romance/peace between the Igbos and the nothern people (Hausas/Fulani)? Or why Ojukwu started the agitation for the soverign state of Republic of Biafra? It was all thanks to chukwuma, he started it all, he was the reason why the hausas killed many of your people up front and Aguiyi Johnson Ironsi (The only head of state from the east). Anyway i wasn't supporting any tribe from my initail post and also here. I'm just telling you like others that Major General Chukwuma was the reason for the division in Nigeria. He created the problem the southern part of Nigeria is facing till date especially the south east. Yorubas are only using brain to collect what's ours from the hausas/fulanis up front while you people tagged it slavery. You can continue saying that though, once the hausas/fulanis knows and never mess with our importancy in Nigeria, then we don't care. And you eastern people should start using your brain. What's/ has befell you people is all your fault. The earlier you realize that and find a solution the better. God will help you people in your fight for freedom though. Buh you people should biko take mouth out of yoruba people matter. We are suppose to fight you the way the hausas/fulanis always do because of all what your people did in 1966 buh we didn't. So you people should learn to be grateful. And we are the reason Yakubu Gowon didn't wipe out all the igbo tribe during the civil war buh you'd always tag us backstabbers even when we are trying everything possible to make sure the nothern people don't wipe you out because of the hatred they have for you which you incured upon yourselves though.

even before d coup and pre independence there's has always been crisis and masacre up there. or are u saying that also the present day crisis in d central was a fall out of d coup?

Nzeogwu is from the Anioma part of Delta which is about 15% population of Delta and less than 2% of Niger-Delta cum South-South.

The coup was made up of 55% Igbos, 10% Anioma(part of Delta), 5% North and 30% Yoruba.
it is this subdivision mentality that oppressors are using against u uptill today. a Jew no matter any part of the globe knows himself as a Jew or subjew

Ekpoma25:
5 Ways a Fed Rate Hike Could Impact Emerging Markets
BY JUSTIN KUEPPER

The Federal Reserve has a tremendous impact on the U.S. stock market through its various monetary policy tools. But few investors realize its impact on the global financial markets through the valuation of the U.S. dollar. Since the dollar is a global reserve currency, changes in its valuation can have a tremendous impact on everything from foreign reserves at global central banks to corporate balance sheets containing dollar-denominated debt.

Here are five ways the Federal Reserve could impact emerging markets and what it means for investors in these markets.

1. Rise in Corporate Defaults
Many emerging market companies have benefited from low U.S. interest rates by borrowing in dollars and repaying debt with stronger local currencies. According to the Bank for International Settlements, there was about $1.1 trillion in dollar-denominated bonds issued by non-bank emerging market companies outstanding in Q3 2015 compared to just $509 billion at the end of 2008 – a significant increase during a period of low-interest rates.

Higher U.S. interest rates could make these debts more difficult to service. For example, Brazil’s currency fell to record lows against the dollar in 2015, which made it difficult for companies generating revenue to repay debt in U.S. dollars. These increased costs could lead to a wave of corporate defaults that could hurt the emerging market corporate bond market and ETFs like the iShares Emerging Markets Corporate Bond ETF (CEMB).

2. Lower Foreign Investment
Many emerging markets have seen significant foreign direct investment since the 2008 global financial crisis. With U.S. and European bond yields at record lows, investors flocked into higher yielding emerging market stocks and bonds to bolster their portfolios yields. These emerging market economies became reliant on this steady increase in foreign investment to drive economic growth and witnessed significant expansion over the past several years.

Higher interest rates could draw more investors back to the U.S. and spark an outflow of capital from emerging markets. This lower foreign investment could put the brakes on economic growth in many economies that rely on such investments. The so-called Fragile Five economies have been deemed the most vulnerable to this kind of downturn – Turkey, Brazil, India, South Africa, and Indonesia – and warrant particularly close attention.

3. Falling Currency Values
Many emerging markets have experienced a significant appreciation in their currencies. For example, the USD/ZAR currency pair rose from less than 10.00 in 2012 to a high of 17.00 in January 2016 as the U.S. dollar depreciated against the South African rand. South Africa was able to leverage this increase in its currency valuation to borrow more U.S. dollars to finance various growth initiatives and increase government spending.

The bad news is that the rand – and other emerging market currencies – have already started to fall amid expectations that the Federal Reserve will increase interest rates. These dynamics could make it more difficult for countries like South Africa to repay their dollar-denominated debts – the same issue faced by many private companies.

The only solution may be to let its currency fall in value, which could help exports but hurt investment.

4. Sovereign Rating Pressure
Many emerging market governments took advantage of low U.S. interest rates to borrow in U.S. dollars. For example, South Africa borrowed heavily when the dollar was low and used the proceeds to help finance its growth and budgetary needs. These dynamics helped many emerging markets outperform over the past several years, but the strategy could come back to haunt them when the dollar rises in value and these debts become more expensive.

South Africa has one of the largest external financing requirements in the world, which means that its currency reserves are smaller than the amount needed to service its foreign debt and pay for imports. These dynamics could lead to a lower credit rating and higher borrowing cost moving forward if the U.S. dollar appreciates in value.

A higher borrowing cost could make it more difficult to obtain the funding needed to invest in growth.

5. Lower Dollar Commodities
Many emerging market economies are reliant on commodities to drive their economic growth. For instance, Brazil and Russia depend heavily on crude oil and natural gas prices, while Chile and Peru rely extensively on copper and other hard commodities. Commodity prices have risen over the past several years since they are priced in U.S. dollars and more dollars were required to purchase the same ‘value’ of commodities, putting a higher dollar value on them.

If the dollar rises in value, these dynamics could reverse and commodities could see further downward pressure. This is bad news for emerging markets because most commodities are sold in U.S. dollars, which means that they will generate less revenue in real terms. Less revenue could translate to slower growth and lower valuations for commodity-focused companies operating in these key emerging market economies.

The Bottom Line
The Federal Reserve has a significant impact on domestic markets, but many investors fail to realize it's equally important impact on foreign markets. Emerging markets are particularly vulnerable to these changes in interest rates and the dollar’s valuation relative to local currencies. The upshot is that the Federal Reserve has acknowledged this and does incorporate global concerns into its monetary policy decisions – but that doesn’t mean it won’t have an impact.
