Makes sense. I guess we are all products of the information we allow ourselves to get exposed to. Would be so heart breaking if this Trump wins.

Nice diary BTW.

Thanks

I think Biden should be cautiously optimistic. Ohio and North Carolina are doing the magic.
The lead in NC is tightening

And look at Trump crushing it in Michigan!

Much is not expected from Florida.
Democratic never expect to win in Florida

False
Obama won that state twice. By significant margins at that.

Florida, once again, is a key state to watch this election - so let's take a moment to cast our eye over the latest exit poll data.

Biden appears to be doing better among women, while Trump leads among men. Biden is also doing better among non-white voters, while white Floridians have favoured Trump.

The Sunshine state's 29 electoral votes will be a big prize for either candidate. So far, 93% of the vote has been counted.

The 65+ seniors and Cuban Americans were solidly behind Trump. They might have given him the edge

Florida just made trump go from a 10% chance of winning to 33%.
Huge win moral boost for him!

The circumstances are different. It is quite uncertain. This will go to the wire.

Can anyone really tell where this is going?
I don't think so, not even the best pollsters.

Even if he does, I don't think it will matter much, nor should it stop Biden

That is exactly what happened in 2016.
After Florida, he took the rustbelt and ended Hillary's political career.

CNN is detailed if you want to understand the analysis. Look at the county. Look at the margin and percentage of win compares to 4 years ago. That is the key, NOT what they are showing for the state at the moment,

Either way Trump is likely to take Florida

Forget about the flipping . Focus on the county. Biden is under performing in Miami Dade county in Florida. It is a thing of worry as at now, things can still change. Trump too under performs in some counties.

Focus on the counties and compare it to what happened 4 years ago. This causes the flip

True.
NYT gives trump a 95% chance of winning Florida

Biden is clearly going to win the popular vote. The question is if he'll also win the electoral college. I hope he does.

I know.
But I'm saying whoever wins Florida will win it by a very small margin.

Trump is leading in Florida. But mostly Republican counties have been counted and his lead margin is smaller than in 2016. Biden is also leading in a county Trump won in 2016 with 75% on that county's vote counted. Hmmm, is it what I'm thinking?

22% of the votes counted and Biden ahead by 0.3

It's gonna be so close

Surprising, too early though but Kentucky is turning blue!! Still early days

That's cause early ballots are counted first and those favor democrats.

Senate majority leader Mitch will have a heart attack and die if Kentucky turns blue grin

Pardon me, but is it when the total votes have been counted or the first to get there?

Also, can a candidate just pick selected states and campaign vigorously in them to give him the 270 votes?

It's kind of confusing, especially the part where it's not the candidate with the highest number of votes that'll win the election, not even the candidate that wins the highest number of state, cos some of the states might just be "useless" in the general scheme of things

Sorry for the question if they're much

@bold
Exactly.

There are some states know as Swing States or Toss up states. This is because they swing from democrats to republican party when voting in every election.
E.g Florida or Pennsylvania
Both states voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012 i.e democratic but in 2016 voted Trump i.e republican.

Both parties camp in these states and campaign even till election day because the states can go either way unlike solid states which traditionally vote for one party for decades
e.g California always vote democratic so Trump will see it as a waste to heavily campaign there.
And Alabama always vote republican so Biden won't bother campaigning there.

She won majority votes in states with less number of electoral college, states with high number of electoral college are called swings state, those are the most important states.

For Example candidate A can win a majority votes with a margin of 5million in Tiger city, which has 10 electoral college, while candidate B can win in Lion city with a margin of just 1 million but lion city has electoral college of 30 candidate B will be declared winner, although Candidate A has the majority votes with a margin of 4million, but candidate B has higher electoral college votes which is 30 compared to 10.

I hope u get this analysis.

This isn't exactly so.
States with more population have a higher number of electors in the electoral college
California has 55, Texas 38, NY 29, Florida 29 etc

States with smaller populations have fewer electoral college numbers eg Vermont with 3, Wyoming with 3 etc.
