@Mzansi I understand you are confused now, I support the world cup because it is the biggest thing to happen in africa(for that I feel proud of your country). But sometimes Im reminded of how dangerous it is to walk on the streets even today I mite get killed there, the fact is it is scary there especially last year. So now do you blame me for being scared? |
Be honest, If Im walking in the in streets of Hillbrow Im likely to get killed than any other place in the world. Its all about having a safe event(world cup) regardless, I would like to go there but the crime stats are shocking. Did you know that during the Confederation cup and the British lion tour in South Africa, when prostitutes stole money from Egyptians players in in their hotel and couple of british fans where robbed,a captain of Bayelsa Football team was shot dead in Nigeria?Dont try to compare SA and Nigeria because Nigeria is not hosting the world cup. Besides SA is one of the leading nations in crime stats |
People gonna get killed, robbed, raped etc. (Im afraid just thinkin about it) Ill be honest, I considered coming to that country but then again the reality is shocking |
Litmus:You xenophobic(hahahaha ), anyways this topic is about whether you like the idea or not and provide reasons. |
Its gonna be a violent world cup next year |
@folem It seems you do have a point there and this world cup will be a difficult challenge for visitors. |
michelin89:Clearly you the idiot around here, calling me names wont prove a point. All we want to do is to discuss about Nollywood Stars Who Can Make It In Hollywood but you busy trying to make an argument around something that is not related to this current discussion. We will ignore you from now on |
Michelin is one of those backward minded people, I suggest that he should withdraw himself from this topic or we should just ignore him. Thats the only way this topic will continue. |
@mahal So who design that building then? |
Imagine, traveling africa without passports, using one currency, one military, one single government under Gaddafi. At the recent AU meeting this was the main topic discussed, so i wanna ask you are you interested in making one unified state in africa? ![]() |
British & Irish lions supporters came to South Africa in thousands not even one of them experienced any sort of crime. But imagine, if the world cup is played outside of Joburg Ill bet you it'll be a 100% safe event. |
Hi everyone, Im currently studying architecture in Johannesburg at the mo, I find these threads very interesting and informative(especially coming from my side of africa). The problem is I find it difficult to find contemporary stylish architecture from other parts in africa and news in terms general design etc. That's why i ask for anyone to post links or info on the latest developments in/or around west africa. I hope that one day, there could be a general discussion forum for architecture in africa. Yours truly. |
@michelin89 I think we should remain back to the topic at hand Nollywood Stars Who Can Make It In Hollywood if you dont have anything to say then shut the f4ck up idiot |
@michelin89 She is white. An african white. If I am born and bred in a particular african country what am I then? Black/White is a name to a race, Africa is a place, African is person from a particular place in africa. Clearly you dont know how to describe names or you just racist. |
I ask you again, compare her with your mentioned actors. |
So whats your point? She is currently in SA(acting in Isidingo as mentioned), she has citizenship in SA, her parents and great grand parents were born in SA, she has roots in SA, her culture is SA(afrikaaner which literally means african tribe) what more do want? You can go ask her herself whether she is african or perhaps ask a white South African whether he/she is african? |
michelin89:I suggest that you should stop being racist and understand that africa has alot of races. That fact anything that is non-black seems to be non-african to your opinion is just riduclous. |
Charlize Theron is born and bred in South Africa(she is now return to act in local soapie Isidingo), so shall I say it again, try to compare her with your mentioned actors. |
They do, she is an Afrikaaner(Afrikaaners dont associate themselves as europeans but rather as an african tribe hence the name Afrikaans) |
By the way, Charlize Theron is the first African to win an Oscar, try to compare her with the actors you mentioned. |
I wasnt abusing I was jus emphasizing a particular point. |
my point is the movie Tsotsi is entirely SA, nothing british was in it |
South Africa is part of africa. South Africans consider themselves as Africans (Black, white, indian, coloured,) i dont know where you get the arrogance from. |
By the way, the director of the movie is South African-Gavin Hood |
All you people forget that there is a South Africa. SA has produced international award films one of which won an oscar. There Movies are compared to the US, EU, Asian movies. |
I have a problem with people talking random crap. The director of the Movie is Gavin Hood. He is born and bred in SA (Johannesburg) and was educated at St. Stithians College (where he was elected Head Prefect in 1980) and the University of the Witwatersrand. He first came to the South African public's attention when he starred in the SABC TV production The Game, a drama series focusing on the game of rugby union. Hood got his start at directing when he was commissioned to make several short educational dramas for the South African Department of Health. He directed his first commercial short film, The Storekeeper, in 1998. He is the director of the 20th Century Fox film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, released May 1, 2009. There is nothing british in him, go look up further information on him and stop claiming he is british. |
I wonder if u all seen south african movies compared to Nollywood? SA has international award winning movies and one of them won an oscar in 2006 called Tsotsi. There actors earn more than 100 Nollywood movies. |
Ive seen some SA movies and I must say they are really good(some of them international award winnig), but the one problem for me is they only produce a couple of movies per year and they have a small film industry as comparison to india, us and eu. But the movies are quality and could be compared to international ones. |
@Crystalz I totally agree wit u. |
@RSA I almost wantd to support your team but tanks 2 u na |
I understand SA is a bad team, infact they will lose but atleast give our african brothas sum support ![]() |
Well SA dominates Africa in other sports(except in football and long distance running), it wouldnt be fair if they play good in football? |
), anyways this topic is about whether you like the idea or not and provide reasons.
