.

The biggest state in the SE is Enugu and Ebonyi that till tomorrow KANU still puke about is second bigger than his own state.
The SE just like every other tribe got the good, bad and ugly kinds. But I will tell you from both personal and collectives experiences the UGLIES and the BAD are the majorities, what amazes me most what others will take as insults, affronts its seen as okay to them.
Add up Rivers and Bayelsa it bigger than the entire SE. AkwaCross roughly the same size just forget EdoDelta. This dual states have everything the SE lack but when you see and hear the BASTA-RDS Igbos rats talk the fools talk as if they are doing us favor.
If I go back down history as you rightly say I tell you Azikiwe to the minorities of the then southeastern state was a tribalist to the core. He came from the West and hijacked the NCNC, the four most important post in the entire region were IBOs
This is 2020 and now IPOB rats in this great era of dissemination of information, where every tribe local government wards and villages can speak for themselves is telling us he knows what is best for us
Is it professors, doctors, lawyers, soldiers, pilots what what and what do the SE have that SS don't.
If the UGLIES and the BADS in SE wants to shape them let them restrict only to their enclaves, no IPOB rats will draw the map of SS

I have no addition to this piece. You have said it all.

The best thing now about Nigeria is that everyone is now speaking up and having a voice. Be it either Yorubas, Igbos, Hausas/Fulanis, Southern minorities, Northern minorities, and etc. We have passed through the stages where people history are defined by other people.

There are lot of misinformation on the media space and every tribe intellectuals owe their people a duty to set the narratives right by the truth going forward. Truth itself is a very potent weapon.

First of all, you guys need to know exactly why most Igbos are hellbent on annexing the South-South (ND) ethnicities into their Biafra. It is a game plan that have always been in the mind of the Igbo decision makers since inception and they don't necessarily draft the SS people into Biafra based on true brotherhood.

To give you a better account. In May 12th 1953, Azikwe gave a speech when the Northern people were murmuring secession and was bragging with the resources of the Eastern people as his bargaining power.

Below are some excerpts from it that showed why exactly most Igbos are trying so hard to annex SS:
—In my opinion, the Northerners are perfectly entitled to consider whether or not they should secede from the indissoluble union which nature has formed between it and the South, but it would be calamitous to the corporate existence of the North should the clamour for secession prevail. I, therefore, counsel Northern leaders to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of secession before embarking upon this dangerous course.

—It may lead to economic nationalism in the Eastern Region, which can pursue a policy of blockade of the North, by refusing it access to the sea, over and under the River Niger, except upon payment of tolls. It may lead to economic warfare between the North on the one hand, and the Eastern or Western regions on the other, should they decide to fix protective tariffs which will make the use of the ports of the East and West uneconomic for the North.

—You may ask me whether there would be a prospect of civil war, if the North decided to secede? My answer would be that it is a hypothetical question which only time can answer. In any case, the plausible cause of a civil war might be a dispute as to the right of passage on the River Niger, or the right of flight over the territory of the Eastern or Western Region; but such disputes can be settled diplomatically, instead of by force.

https://www.blackpast.org/global-african-history/1953-nnamdi-azikiwe-speech-secession/

Brethen, the above is the major reason why they wanted to annex the South South ethnicities into their fold. All the bargaining power Azikwe used were resources of the SS'ner minorities. However there is one more thing that later came up to make them want these ethnicities more, that is Crude Oil.

Ask yourself, if the seas and crude oil were to be in the Igbo lands of SE, will they ever try this hard to bring the SS'ners into their folds? Will they try hard to even add them to their maps? Will they show the same brotherhood they are showing? SS have oil and seas, but yet some Igbos always feel superior to them, let alone changing the situation to SE having the oil and seas. Just imagine.

I know you will ask what is the Yoruba cup of tea in all this, but this country and forum is intertwined, what affects one affects everybody.

Peace.

Yorubahero12,why waste your time and energy in educating those who refused to be educated.Let them continue to delude themselves.Where have they seen a federal prisoner being released by the state or regional government? So Ojukwu just woke up and released Awo just for Gowon to welcome him in Lagos without Gowon's consent, what an irony.Nigeria will be a better country if we allow these parasitic Igbo to secede and save ourselves from these awful parasites who have been invading every Yoruba towns and villages yet evil is what they wish their hosts. What should the Germans, Japanese be wishing British and American for a war which ended 75 years ago? These people are forging on whereas Igbo are still sulking on the war the useless Ojukwu caused to massage his ego.Let us go our different ways if that will save us from these compulsive liars. They were not made to pay for human and materials losses caused by Ojukwu's madness why won't they be talking thrash.

Brother I understand you and you are right.

However I have a different school of thought. Leaving these igbos alone is what has led to all this rubbish they always say every time that make them get away with lies. Our fathers did a great mistake by maintaining the culture of silence against the igbos because an Igbo man will never play by the rules.

—Do you know there are still lot of Yorubas online that believed the hogwash that Ojuku released Awo? Don’t you think those Yorubas will be like “Oh Awo betrayed Ojuku, why will he release Awo and he supported Gowon against him”. Ojuku played his game right, after losing the war he found a fall guy in Awo.

— Another example, why should Igbos be calling Yorubas Fulani slaves because we voted Buhari in 2015? Don’t we have documented historical facts of Igbo alliance with Fulanis ? How could a tribe like Igbo suddenly turn around to label the Yorubas the betrayer of south when their history showed they had countless betrayal of the south (Yorubas). Some Yorubas online don’t even know about what transpired in between 1957-1999, they all just swallow the propaganda from the igbos like that.

The reason why the Igbo man is getting away with this is because they always resort to throwing the Biafra war victim card to project their propaganda because most Yoruba felt sorry for them. You don’t treat Igbos with love, you have to give it to them hot like they would if they were in our shoes.

—-That is why I want to make sure I correct him to the end until he has nothing else to say. And this should even be moved to other social media space to sensitize millions of Yorubas and other tribes out there.

Can you now see why I’m doing all this? Normally he has nothing more to say but I want him to keep silent.

I have convincely punctured your argument that we should believe your account of things because you claim your source is infallible.

Whether New York has been existing pre-histiory is immaterial here.

Bottom line: Your hypotheses are built on shifting sands...

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.

We defeated the age long propaganda of Ojuku and his cronies with facts such that his kinsmen resorted to saying sources don’t matter when giving account of the past. Especially when it’s 4-5 independent sources verifying the same thing.

Normally I would have stopped engaging you. But I won’t, I will keep playing the psychological game with you to dampen your moral. I know it hurts to know that the people you loved and trusted(Elders) lied to you all this while but I am here to be your therapy and I’m willing to take you through the healing process.

So long a lletter...

You have not succeeded in refuting my assertion that the source you chose to rely on could have gotten the whole issue mix up....

Or are you saying it is beyond the realm of possibility for even New York to commit a blunder?

Awolowo was a convict, at least in the eyes of the Nigerian system Gowon usurped...

So is it difficult to see that he could have taken liberties with words by claiming to have relleased Awo when what he actually did was to invite Awo into his cabinet?

Think out of the box....

I am not thinking outside the box based on this subject. You should rather stop being adamant.

The sources below gave the same account for the scenario.
-NYT: American newspaper (est 1851)
-The Guardian: British newspaper (est 1821)
-Reuters: British newspaper (est 1851)
-Britishpathe: British picture/videos (est 1910)

Infact I have seen the same news on the Australian archives before. If I lay my hand on the document I will also post it here. That’s cutting across 3 continents and they all gave the same account.

But you said I shouldn’t believe all these sources and I should instead think outside of the box. Think outside the box for what exactly?

Independent readers on Nairaland will judge who among us is actually intelligent.

The whole saga is befuddling...

The chap went to a faceless website to do copy and paste all he could have done is to spare a minute of critical reasoning.

Even in this day, seemingly reputable platforms have been known to mix up issues only to issue rectification let alone an article written over fifty years ago when it was not uncommon to jumble things up and grossly misrepresent everything Africa...

You are trying to beat a dead dog here coz you practically have nothing to dispute my facts. Infact NONE of you can dispute the fact.

@bolded, what could be more factual than when 4 international leading media platform covered a news in both prints and video with time stamp for the actual date it occurred. (They have the image of the actual newspaper and not just an article)

These guys have the intel that most people in government don’t even have during such period. New York Times covered some of the British war against Nigeria natives giving account of the actual casualties and location of those said wars. They have been in existence since 1850s.

These same foreign agencies are who gave the Biafran war the required international exposure. You think you have any news channel in Nigeria to showcase the Biafran children kwashiorkor to the world to aid Ojuku’s propaganda? Do you know how many times Ojuku always do press briefing with the international folks who in turn take it to the media to get some sympathy and aid to the Biafran people.

Who captured all the Nigeria struggle for independence in the international space? These same guys. They are the one that documented the video of all those meeting our founding fathers are having and what we come to know as our history.

There is a website that you can see a lot of videos of Ojuku and his speeches during the war in my hand that not only give only video but wrote an account of what transpired in each video with time stamps. Same for Awolowo/Azikwe/Gowon/etc and Nigeria as a whole.

So those are the same set of people you are condemning their report. Moreso, they don’t even have any reason to support propaganda against Ojukwu then because the Igbos are still the ones in power. Ironsi only died 5days ago to the Awo release news on their medium. So there is no issue of rebel, animosity, nothing whatsoever against Igbos or Biafra. Biafra is not even yet birthed.

You are an ignoramus.

Well thats not how things worked back then. Back in the times of the Regions, before anyone could become president or head of state, the Regions had to recognise that person as one. The Regions were almost as powerful as the FG, if not more powerful. So it doesn't matter if Gowon was head of state, it was all about the Regions that accepted him as so. Thats why Gowon could not fire Ojukwu nor release Awolowo, the Eastern Region never recognised Gowon as head of state until Gowon met Ojukwu in Aburi. Didnt you ask your self why a head of state like Gowon would be meeting Ojukwu, who is supposed to be under him, in another country for talks?

Gowon simply had no control over the Eastern Region, thats why Gowon abolished the 4 Regions and created 12 states. The Regions were just too powerful for any head of state to order about.

Gowon simply had no power to order anyones release in the Eastern Region, the person who had that power was Ojukwu

Stop saying nonsense on social media especially when debating with superior minds like the Yorubas.

Rather bring your Igbo Professors in your citadel of learning to debate with us because we only speak with facts and not “My daddy tell me” like the Igbos do.

Check the timeline below:

—Awolowo was imprisoned in 1963.

—Ironsi became head of state January 17, 1966

— Ojuku was appointed governor January 17, 1966

— Ironsi was assassinated July 29, 1966

— Gowon took power in August 1, 1966

— Awolowo was released August 3, 1966

Some question arise from the above:

1) Please what is Ojuku and Ironsi looking at for over 7month that they couldn’t deem it fit to release Awolowo? Why is is that he was released almost immediately as Gowon took power.

2) How could Ojuku have taken command of the whole Eastern region (Federal prison) from the federal government to release Awolowo only 4 days after the death of Ironsi. Just 4 days oooooo (infact Ironsi corpse was initially missing few days after the coup with some people speculating whether he is dead or alive)

Going forward, bookmark this moniker and be always prepared before you engage me in an argument because I only speak based on facts and I only engage in topics I know I have 100% supporting facts about with credible sources.

The Yorubas are brought up to always pursue the truth and advance it every time because that’s the Omoluabi honor that we always uphold.

Igbos on the other part are brought up to always regurgitate any thing their parents tell them and defend it even when there is no evidence to support their parent’s argument. You should know when to GIVE UP and when to fight.

In this thread, you have lost it right from the first page.

Borno wasn't even calculated, in the statistics. It says it quite clearly, if you'd bothered to read it.

But that's beside the point. In the case of the South, where you actually have a working class, middle class and the rich. A larger sample size would obviously be more significant. A state like Borno, that pretty much only has poor and a small elite class - margin for error is going to be much smaller - but again, that's conjecture, and for the most part, based on eye service. The poverty is visible and glaring.

It's not a mystery, you can actually SEE who is living better. I don't know why you're trying to mystify things.

I quoted Borno not based on the report but just using it as part of my analogy to expose you for choosing the data not to believe simply because it’s against your people.

How do you come about the statement that Borno has only poor people and few elites? Did you lived there to sample 20% of the population or you’re just dishing out statistics for the fun of it?

You can’t choose when to believe, either you believe NBS completely or you don’t believe them at all.

Question: NBS over the years have always said North is poorer than south, do you believe them?

If you believe them above, do you think they sampled 20% of the people of the North before reaching their conclusion?

No, because the statistics don't reflect reality. Any statistic that declares Igboland as a poverty capital is NOT credible.

Igbo people are NOT poor, that's not an opinion - it's a fact. A fact that EVERYONE in Nigeria knows. Including YOU.

The only fact everyone know about is that Igbos are the poverty capital of the south.

Measuring the size of the economy and collating statistical data on poverty, are two entirely different things.

It's easy to keep track on what Nigeria is earning, every quarter. But it's virtually impossible to determine how rich a populace is, if you are unable to keep track of the people within the country itself.

If you can't determine how many people in Ogun State have a job, because you don't really know how many people are actually in Ogun State. Then how can you know how many of them are poor?

Then why are the southerners always tagging the North as the poverty capital all this while?

Then that means Borno might actually be richer than Imo state because the statistics that put Borno state below in NBS could be inaccurate since we need to sample 20% of the population like you said on your former post.

Infact going forward, everyone should not believe Nigeria is the poverty capital from the likes of agencies likes of World Bank coz they did not sample like 36 million of Nigeria population before reaching their conclusion.

Also, Buhari did not actually plunge the nation into poverty and he can also argue NBS need to sample several million of people in Nigeria before publishing the poverty statistics.

We might as well stop believing all data and start giving statistical data based on our wishful thinking!

So the World Bank also conspired with NBS to lie against the Igbos.

They need to submit a petition to UN, Trump, CNN, ICC, WHO to rectify this injustice coz it’s evident the World Bank are jealous of Igbos and marginalizing them.

Igbos are poverty capital of the south!

Take for example, they will use statistics to insult the northerners and call them almajiri, they call us illiterates using those statistics but all of a sudden, on May 2020, those statistics became afonja. propaganda when it posted figures they didn't like about their region. Their hypocrisy is scary

Bro you northerners have to start giving it back to them. Credit to Arewa Twitter and Arrewa on Nairaland. The Igbo man now fear Arewa coz he knows how to deal with them.

They always call the North countless name using the same NBS statistics but suddenly don’t want to believe the new statistics and resorted to abusing Yemi Kale. We showed them the world bank data and the Oxford data on poverty metric, all of which alluded to the same fact.

Go on Twitter, Whatsaping, a Northerner always roast the Igbos and they dare not behave the way they always behave on Nairaland.

Honesty Nigeria needs to bring history into its curriculum and make it compulsory. I even used to believe that the igbos lost their life savings and received 20pounds compensation, only for someone to prove that that the whole thing was a hoax. None of the igbos on this forum could disprove him

See brother there are still a lot of Igbo propaganda to debunk. That 20 pound policy was debunked by Aribisala then if I still remember and they couldn’t bring forth a proof to dispute his facts.

The Yorubas of the old chose to leave them alone coz our father pitied them for the casualties they suffered during the war. The Igbo man have been hiding under the victim mentality to project their propaganda.

Now Yorubas like me and the current youth will take no nonsense from the Igbos and we will make sure they don’t get the same privilege of silence our fathers accorded them.

If not that Ojuku is deranged, why should he expect food from his enemies in the first place? That is one of the reason they hated Awolowo and Ojuku used that to defend his loss in the war and used Awo as the fall guy.

If I was Gowon, I would have jailed Awolowo for aiding the enemy. Abi why did baba kept the eastern region allocation for the duration of the war? And why will he even bring the policy of £20 for our enemies in the first place.

It is difficult to force-feed you with common sense. and deductive reasoning...

Every man and his dog know that newspapers are susceptible to occasional errors and generalizations.

Why would a New York Times, a somewhat right-leaning tabloid attribute Awo's release to Ojukwu who in the eyes of UK and US was a recalcitrant rebel?

Is it outside the realm of probability that Gowon and the Nigerian Government intent on milking the release of Awo flew the propaganda kite by claiming to have released him?

You need to think, Ogbeni...Stop allowing emotions to becloud your sense of reasoning..

Awo was released several months before the civil war. Infact when he was released, Gowon just took power 4-7 days and the the Biafran war haven’t even been thought about. Nigeria is still Nigeria and Ironsi was the president just few days ago from that date of Awo release.

They are still searching for the corpse of Ironsi and the British wouldn’t have even have any reason to term the Igbos as rebels.

Your argument is faulty and baseless. How can the British/Americans term Igbos rebel when the Igbos didn’t even wage any war against Nigeria or even dreamt about seceding as at that moment.

Lest I forget, I’m still waiting for your source. I will make sure I deal with you until you have nothing else to say!

Gowon would never challenge a COWARD. Gowon thinks of Ojukwu as less of a man.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAKkC8Yi5UY

The man ran and hid for decades. How come he didn’t face Gowon and tell him to his face that he freed Awolowo?

Why did he wait DECADES! Before concocting a story or feeding into a false rumour that he knows were all lies.

Why didn’t he offer evidence to show that he released Awolowo.. Gowon has evidence...read more from the excerpts below from the horses mouth Gowon himslef

In the video:
Gowon said Ojuku said I will fight to the last man. Only for him to cowardly run away when it’s time to do what he said.

He is a coward that deserves no honor!

You were quick to refute our sources, shall we please you to displease ourselves?

That’s because you don’t have any source except Ojuku words.

While Ojukwu was alive, he did not demur in maintaining that he freed Awo ...

How come Gowon never challenged him but chose a convenient time to play on the psyche of gullible Yorubas?

Awo was known to have visited the East just before the outbreak of the war: Does that not suggest that a continuation of deliberations which started while he was incarcerated was the motive?

Maybe you should as well revise the fact that Awo mooted the excision of the Western Region during that turbulent time...

Ogbeni Gowon said he released Awolowo. It’s in the premium times news so stop saying rubbish.

Provide a source to back your claims coz they belong to the trash.

I’ve asked almost all Igbo I’ve encountered for months to provide me A SINGLE reputable source. No one provide one except for Ojuku words.

You are all LIARS

Maybe in a commando style Gowon sneaked into Calabar using the prison break method to free Awo and fly him back to Lagos.

The federal prison is not in Ojuku command 5 days after the counter coup.

Do you guys even read at all? Call your professors to duel with me instead and make my work easy.

I’ve told your kinsmen to provide one source for months but NO one was able to provide one. Even Ojuku children cannot provide it.

Shame on you guys!

You are not adding up...

How believable is it that Gowon, the military head of state, would leave his official functions in Lagos and drive all the way to Callabar to free Awo?

Is the natural thing not for Gowon to have given the orders for Awo's release and had him brought to his office at Dodan Barracks if he wanted to see him?

The video was another event or it was simply stage-managed to mislead the gullibe into believing a pre-set narrative....

Ojuku read.

It’s not hard to read because the prints is just one page that detailed what happened. Awo was flown from Calabar in a helicopter and the entourage simply drove him straight to Gowon office in Lagos where they chatted and shook hand.

He was flown from the federal prison to Lagos and the video is just when he met with Gowon.

Read the paper below. Can you see it 100% correlates with the video? Yet both of them are from a different source.

Ojuku at least have shame and stop ridiculing the image of the late coward that ran away like a woman.

Whether you come as LegendHero or YorubaHero, it will make no difference....

I have refuted this copy and paste style of yours time and time again but it appears you like sounding like a broken record.

Why would a sensible person base their argument/defence on an off-hand extraact written over 50 years ago?

You really need to try harder..

Lol refuted what?

Can you provide the source to your rebuttal?

Maybe you refute it to your village illeterates in upper Iweka that can’t think on their own except I hear from my daddy.

@the bolded, what could be more authentic than the news that was captured on the day of the event in its true form. The same thing was captured by 3 independent media channel that cross across 2 world powers.

Provide your source or shut up and play with the people within your intelligence bracket.
