CultureRe: Bereaved Son Share Burial Demands From Village Group, Sparks Debate by YoshihideSuga: 12:29pm On Jul 17
cr7lomo:
Not just the village ...church is also involved in this extortion...not pentecostal ooo.. Catholic and Anglican... they will request for the tithe , the late person dint pay all thru their lifetime in their church. Even if u tell them the person paid tithe in another branch of the church, they wudnt accept it....the will request for levies the person dint pay , the donations the person dint donate...if u dont do it ,the church will not bury the person ...

Village and church demands gulps millions of naira ...some 5m some 7m depending on their demands ... the richer the person was, or if there is a rich member in the family , the more demands ... tgey will charge for meetings the late person failed to attend and also add the children fees that failed to attend meetings...
If nothing is paid and the family bury the dead via another church or according to their secular beliefs, what would happen?

This kind information is why you shouldn’t be surprised. Reality is different from propaganda..

SA doesn’t have more dollar millionaires than Nigeria. Infact, they don’t come close..

There are more dollar millionaires in Lekki than the entire SA! Only Lekki oo… No need of going even further..
Lol
https://www.henleyglobal.com/publications/africa-wealth-report-2025/africas-wealthiest-countries

Henley studies everything about the rich. Lekki that doesn't harbour five million people has more dollar millionaires than Africa's advanced economy with over 40 million people?

Let's fear God in our utterances, please.

We're the most populous African country, African country with the highest number of dollar billionaires and literally the richest country in West Africa. We also have at least 40% of the world's richest pastors - all of whom have a private jet. It's mathematically appropriate.

However, it's a bit surprising that South Africa doesn't come top considering it harbours more dollar millionaires than Nigeria.

Guy grow up, have you really interrogated what our benefits are? The lithium is being processed for export so we are still in the lower. spectrum of the value chain. If we are in the higher spectrum jobs should have been created to push people out of poverty and provide employment for the restless youths. But alas narrow minded people like you focus on playing subtle attacks on opponents.
No one is stopping you from participating in the value chain.

Teymanhenry:
We celebrated the discovery of lithium, believing it would drive industrialization, create jobs, and transform our state into a hub for lithium batteries and other value-added products.

Instead, we're watching the raw mineral being exported while the real wealth, technology, and employment opportunities go elsewhere. We remain suppliers of raw materials and importers of finished goods.

Natural resources don't make nations prosperous—visionary leadership and value addition do. What a country.
The topic is about a lithium processing plant. It's illegal to export raw lithium from Nigeria.

Thanks for the insight.

I'm not actually planning to convert her, it's her choice what she wants to practice as long as it's either Islam, Christianity, or Judaism as they're accepted in Islam.

The characteristics you asked for are relative to environment, social and economic upbringing, etc. But most northerners are outwardly conservative. That's not to say the northern Christians aren't sociable, they actually are but still retain some measure of self-restraint. Before the religious crises of the early 2000s Muslims and Christians lived together as neighbors and learned from each other with some degree of tolerance.
Thank you.

He didn't list anything. He only said out there. There was no specific location in his posts.

Besides do you expect a family man to rent a self con? Self con that used to be seen as students apartments is now what people are struggling to rent. Is that what Nigerians have been reduced to?
A family isn't applying for this job and even if he does, the employer will prefer a bachelor because of the salary and added responsibilities associated with married men.

He listed the areas of which Yaba wasn't mentioned. Anyone who works in this firm isn't interested in residing in Yaba. Also, if one bedroom is very expensive, there are options of mini-flat and self-con.

SonOfWords:
Bandits cannot make it into CBD and other central commercial areas.

Outside Kaduna central, Abuja is arguably the most militarized city in Nigeria. Majority of the reported kidnap cases happen in the suburbs and satellite villages.

Worst case scenario, you'll have isolated cases of theft and one-chance robbers, but even those are almost always apprehended by security operatives.
Your last statement isn't entirely true as many have complained about the incessant one chance attacks throughout the city. The perpetrators never get caught. If they are caught, they get released as seen recently where a man was stabbed to death and his iPhone 16 was stolen.

Being militarised has nothing to do with safety. Kaduna is a hotbed for so-called bandits. The NDA was invaded and soldiers were killed. You overrate the Nigerian military.

Nigeria is so underdeveloped.
When i see pictures and videos of what Nigerians call "modern" or "developed" i just laugh.

Go to Rwanda or even Ivory Coast and call abuja or Lagos modern" again when you come back
Nigeria has always been an under-developed country nau.

Why can't cities like Abuja build roads with side walk?
What's wrong with Nigerians? Don't they travel outside and see how cities are planned and built?
Abuja actually has pedestrian walkways that are entirely covered. It's one of the few places in the country to see such. Elsewhere, open gutters are the best rave in town.
Nairaland GeneralRe: If You Must Be A Successful Rich Man Avoid This Two Things - Psychologist by YoshihideSuga: 11:12pm On Jul 03
The narrator is a woman describing how to be rich as a man. Two, she's not even a rich woman.

Talk about trying to give what she doesn't have.

Rich men have many mistresses and side chicks. Women who want rich husbands only to themselves are delusional.
Nairaland GeneralRe: If You Must Be A Successful Rich Man Avoid This Two Things - Psychologist by YoshihideSuga: 11:10pm On Jul 03
franchasng:
The video narrator is beautiful.

But loving women does not stop a man from becoming rich. In fact most rich men if not all rich men love women. Sometimes the excess drive to have the best of women to yourself as a man pushes most men to become financially successful.

Can you tell me any rich man that doesn't have more than two mistresses? shocked That rich man is the one that you have never caught. Some may exist, but they are very insignificant in number so I don't think loving to be with different women stops a man from being rich. It only becomes a terrible habit if the man makes it a habit such that he starts to patronize brothels and call girls regularly even while he hasn't made it to the top.

The things that can prevent a man from becoming rich are:

1.) Sleeping with legally married women intentionally; this is a destiny killer.

2.) Being a lover of alcohol and hard drugs

3.) Being scared of taking business risks

4.) Hating the rich

5.) Patronizing ladies at the brothels, instead of doing this, get one or two girlfriends that are not professional brothel workers

6.) Lastly, the one thing that can make you poor is harboring fear of failure. Always thinking low about yourself. Always complaining that things are difficult for you. Always begging for alms from people. Believing that people can only become financially rich by engaging in illegalities and crimes. Believing that since your parents are poor that there is no way you can ever become rich or successful. The moment you start thinking low of yourself or harboring fear or doubting your ability to succeed, my brother and sister, you will never succeed unless God shows a special mercy on you. wink
Does that really work? I say this because in so many states in the country, many well off men have married women as their side chicks and they are doing fine.

I'm a Muslim.

I love the igbo culture, and being a northener I'm already familiar with the cultures of our fellow northerners. I'm not intending to marry an igbo simply because she's a Christian, but because she's igbo.

I just want something exotic and removed from what I'm familiar with. It's like pining for an adventure in a new strange land, instead of my neck of the woods.
Since you're a Muslim, your best chances in finding an Igbo Muslim are in Ebonyi and parts of Enugu. Alternatively, as permitted in Islam, you could get the girl to convert to your religion. Such kinds exist in Abuja, Kaduna and Kano, especially those who were raised there.

Sorry, but you didn't answer this one:

How would you describe their characteristics (Northern Christians ladies) compared to Igbo ladies?
FamilyRe: A Would Be Bride Shows Off Her Family's Bride List by YoshihideSuga: 1:48am On Jun 30
Neoteny:
The household stuff regarding the marriage is a cultural thing; the inhibitions are religious.

It's the hausa culture he was talking about, and you rarely find hausa christians.

Mind you, northern Christians who speak the hausa language are not culturally and genetically hausa.
Okay. Understood. I'm just curious why you prefer or desire an Igbo lady for marriage as opposed to a Northern Christian lady (since religion restricts you from marrying the Muslims)? How would you describe their characteristics (Northern Christians ladies) compared to Igbo ladies?
BusinessRe: The World’s Top Billionaire Cities In 2026 - China Leads! by YoshihideSuga: 1:46am On Jun 30
DoTheNeedful:
I hope Nigerians who can't see beyond government's ownership of enterprises can learn something from this information.

There is a strong correlation between the economic growth of any nation and the number of billionaires it has. As the Chinese economy grows, the number of billionaires in China grows. It is the case in any economically buoyant country.

The economy of most working countries in the world are run by entrepreneurs who are able to deploy capital into various sectors of their economies. These entrepreneurs are usually big dreamers and ambitious.

Nigeria has a few like Dangote, Otedola, Abdul Samad Rabiu, Adenuga, and even Elumelu. Nigerians don't appreciate these people due to jealousy, and the uninformed belief that large scale businesses should be owned by the government. Unknown to many people, Nigeria need many of these big dreamers for us to thrive economically as a nation. We need them in large scale commercial farming, power generation, information technology, hi-tech engineering, real estate, healthcare, and so on.

One of the reasons we don't have constant power in Nigeria is because we don't have enough private sector participation in generation. We have been conditioned to think that it is only the duty of the government. I used to believe it too, until I conducted a research on power generation in most developed countries, and I realized that most are driven by the private sector. In fact, with the exception of the US, the top capitalized companies in many advanced stock exchanges in the world are utility companies.

The US is nothing without the private sector. The best universities (Ivy League + MIT , Stanford e.t.c) in the US are private. The best hospitals like Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, e.t.c are private. The largest employer of labor in the US are private companies. The electricity used in most homes are provided by the private sector.

We need to embrace the private sector more in Nigeria for the country to work better.
Black people are largely socialist in nature. People who want the gov't to regulate house rents cannot be enterprising.

Good luck with your hopes.
