Every time I have talked to a Nigerian programmer like me on building software as a service platform for the Nigerian market, the answer I always get is a negative one. A times, I wonder what the problem is, it's not like we don't want to build or lack the knowledge to build, the problem lies with the users/customers who would rather not pay no matter how cheap or useful the app is, I mean what's there in paying N1,000 per month to use a software, it's not that expensive, these days, even road side food you could finish in minutes could cost you more, what then is stopping Nigerians from patronizing home grown subscription based apps ? Every time you launch a utility app with a fee, all you hear is, "the app is nice, but make it free", how can it be free when I use my money to pay for servers to store data and spend my time to maintain it ? Why are Nigerians so unreasonable, are we too poor or just too stingy ? |
bloom02:Interesting, contact me on whatsapp |
Ilearning:You've already made up your mind, why are you coming here to ask us ? You have seen folks posting pictures of themselves in front of highrise buildings and restaurants abroad and you want to do the same and feel among. I don't have any advice for you. |
bloom02:Post the full details of whatever you need with your budget here. The degree of complexity doesn't matter or don't you get tired of explaining over and over again to each person that contacts you ? |
Devdevdev:User visits /login, on the backend, you authenticate using bcrypt or whatever algorithm and generate a token which you must send back as response. On the frontend, you read the response and store the token in httpOnly cookie named XSRF-TOKEN, axios and some other http libraries will automatically pass it for you on each request. Why store it in httpOnly cookie and not web storage ? Because if you store it in web storage, anyone can read it, using httpOnly cookie makes it impossible for anyone else to read the token except you, the server who sets it. |
codingdude:Do both |
Onepiece007:the issue is that xcode can't be used on any other platform. |
wittywriter:Lol! It's for work |
Sheriman:I know but in this case, the M3 might come with better support for things like docker, some people are complaining of segmentation fault with the M2 currently |
I need a new laptop and it has to be a macbook pro though I'm a big fan of linux I can't go for dell or lenovo this time because it won't work with Xcode. I heard the M3 will be faster and better than the M2 but how long will it take before they ship ? Should I wait ? |
I don't care ! Wikipedia is a great resource for anyone who wants to learn and become an expert in any domain especially computer programming, if you go looking for politics, that's what you'll keep seeing |
Update: Some email messages sent to me via nairaland got stuck in spam box, when you are contacting me for this script, I'll advise you use the whatsapp number I dropped |
chukwuebuka65:It is, that's why I suggested it for you. |
chukwuebuka65:Bugs don't just manifest, if you encounter bugs in your code, it is as a result of your wrong doings. Stop complaining and fix up or go and learn farming |
Paystack:LMAO ! |
Paystack:Lol! Just a lucky guy ? Nah! I will say a lucky genius. There were competing forums that died in the early days of nairaland. It might shock you to know, nairaland was loved back then so much, you see this design some of us hate ? People worshipped it and sang praises for it. All the other forums only worked on PC and lacked the features nairaland had back then, nairaland was the home of innovation, it had likes, followings and followers and worked well on mobile browsers. Even mark zuckerberg success was based on luck but we can't say he was just lucky |
Paystack:Lol! Have you seen smf source code before ? I don't mean the current version, go and check version 1.x.x and see the logic and sql queries, so many builtin language function were lacking in php and mysql and had to be built by smf developers, you had to be really good to understand it, talk more of rewriting it in another language, it wasn't beans. As at that year, if we were to be honest, Seun was a genius. We just have to give him the credits. He just got lazy and refused to upgrade, that's the only valid reason to roast him. |
Paystack:Hahaha ! Content moderation isn't easy to implement algorithmically even with machine learning. Hope you know that facebook and twitter and most of these social networking sites using AI employ hundreds of human moderators on the side to contain spam ![]() |
Paystack:You seem to underestimate nairaland a lot, nairaland has an antispam bot and also uses an algorithm to sort post on the trending page and other sections of the forum, ads on nairaland are also served and billed using an algorithm. |
thetechbroh:Though, Nairaland frontpage is moderated by admins not by an algorithm, your post doesn't really need to be on the frontpage to get seen. One of the few ways to get more views is to appear on the list of trending topics and hot topics in sections of the forum. Nairaland uses the time a post was created, the views and replies a post gets to sort this. If you are interested in seeing how nairaland works under the hood, I built a nairaland clone script earlier this year using laravel php framework and I was giving it out, check my threads you should see it |
Dataflip:Send me a message on whatsapp |
Dataflip:I recently integrated airtime and data vending in a friend's project which was built using laravel framework. I don't get, why are you building it from scratch, for learning purpose or something ? |
airsaylongcome:I'm not saying finance business is not good, you are not allowed to run financial services without a licence same way you can't just wake up one morning and rent a shop in your neighbourhood and turn it into a bank. On the issue of profit, it depends on the transaction volume not really the number of users. You can have 10,000 users and still may not make any reasonable profit at the end of the month if they don't perform enough transactions, some of these fintech companies are just running on vibes, they don't make a reasonable profit yet. To be honest, I don't advice any young talented person to be solely responsible for anything monetary in this age filled with peer pressure to outdo one's self, you can easily get tempted to borrow from it even if you didn't have any bad intention initially. |
Two things are involved: 1. You launch and wait for CBN to come for you 2. You don't launch until you get a licence Whether CBN will come for you or not will depend on what major services you are providing and when they notice your activities. NOTE: 1. you can't hold people's funds for saving on their behalf without a licence. 2. if you are planning to collect money on people's behalf without them directly selling any service on your platform, you'll also need a licence ADVICE: Money can be very tempting to keep, you might get tempted to divert people's money for personal use or investments purposes and regret it. Even banks and fintechs are audited occassionally to make sure nobody is diverting anyone's money for personal use. Stay away from anything that will involve EFCC for your own good, find something else to do |
NaijaSky:I saw this post earlier and didn't want to engage you because you contacted me sometime back for nairaland featured links mod and theme for SMF but later added my number to a whatsapp bot for your site feed. If you are still having issues, you can contact me via whatsapp |
Joevics:We have a lot of talented coders and 3d artists here in Nigeria, trust me, whatever package you're looking for, you will find someone here in Naija that can handle it |
StarFist:Hahaha ! The funny part is that, out of all the Nigerian hosts, Whogohost is the most expensive. Try namecheap or bluehost if you want peace of mind. Another angle, try accessing the site using a VPN |
Selarng:if you are interested in this nairaland clone forum script I built using laravel, it has ads, a user wallet already integrated with paystack, marketplace, premium membership, messaging, following and followers feed, likes and shares, vtu portal and much more features, send me an email or contact me via whatsapp checkout the demo in one of my threads below: https://www.nairaland.com/7518043/giving-away-free-blogger-anyone |
GREATIGB0MAN:Lol! Every aboki to his kettle, it's still fine. Just do what you love |
