xandy84:
Everybody keep talking about doing tech jobs as if all tech jobs pays $100k and let's agreed you land 3 tech jobs that pays $300k annually. How much do you think you will pay in taxes? More than $50k and when you file taxes and uncle Sam sees you doing multiple jobs, you will be surprise how much they ask you to pay back.
The problem with this analysis is that you are assuming all tech jobs pay 100k. Even at that, if you earn 300k annually, even if taxes take away 50% that's 150k net income annually. If you're not extravagant, you can survive on 40 to 50k annually. (Most Americans survive on less than 40k yearly and they're doing fine) . If you save 100k yearly, what is 300k (#200M) that you won't save after 4 to 5 years of staying abroad??

The truth is, this may not be the reality of everybody abroad, but there is no denying that there are actually people who are earning this much and living within their means

Someone said drugs. Drugs ke??

All you need is at least 2 tech jobs paying 6 figures which some Nigerians are doing. Some are even working 3 jobs. You just need to be extremely good at what you do.

The population of any nation is her strength. That is why China rose to become a major economy power. And Nigeria is teeming with population...strong, youthful, energetic population.

Messi1:
Sometimes I ask God with displeasure why he created me the way I'm.

I look girlish, weak but short-tempered.

This morning I went to buy sugar from the neighbouring shop to make tea for myself and a guy (also a neighbour) at his early 20s was shouting at me that I matched his farm but it was a car not me. I hate being intimidated so I fired back asking if my leg is a car tyre. He pounced on me and beat me to the floor. He pulled my hair and said my dreads smells like shit. He strangled me and I had no space to breathe (I suspect he wanted to asphyxiate me). Two ladies lifted him from me and bashed him.

I instituted the case against him in the Civil Defence Office. He was arrested. He's in their custody now. I prayed N20, 000 to be paid to me and I pleaded he should not be released on bail untill tomorrow.

That you even have the courage to confront him, you won the fight bro.

Weak or not, you're no coward. It's easy to have the courage of a Lion, King of the jungle. Everyone expects it to win all fights. But not everyone has the courage of the guinea pig who has absolutely no defensive or offensive power but can yell at an elephant ten times it's size if it tampers with its food.

Just pick your fights carefully. It's better to live and fight another day.

USA is a very shameless country. They go about the whole world disrupting everyone's peace and causing tensions. They will look for trouble where there is none . Because they aren't surrounded by enemies themselves? This is what happens when you spend so much on military hardware you start looking for fight everywhere so you could test your nonsense. And at the end if the day, they'll be the first to chicken out when they see it's beyond their powers (Russia a case study).

Anyways flash bombs has just been dropped by Chinese Su-35 fighter jets over the Taiwan strait. I can assure this wouldn't be taken lightly by the Chinese coz na see finish dem dey call this nonsense America do.
Trouble makers .

I don't understand. So they should just let China conquer Taiwan? A sovereign state?

How would you feel if someone comes to your house, claims ownership and orders you out JUST BECAUSE THEY CAN??

Make una dey reason this matter small na.

This is pure bullying from China and if this is not stopped, it'd become a norm.

Remember the ancient times where kings go to battle to claim lands just because they have the warriors? That's where we'd be headed if nothing is done.

Personally, I risk just $200 max on risky assets and apply leverage for more gains where available.

That way, I get to take profit on up to $2000 or more, or lose only the $200 I staked if things go south.

When it's not like they are coins worth HODLing for long term.

Nice strategy.

In our you say you love about Nigeria really?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vo-J6cB0-Lg

The people.

They are resilient, persistent, hardworking and driven with a sense of humor second to none. They can make a joke of anything and everything.

I love the sense of community. The unsolicited concern about others welfare, especially in rural communities. It's your unwritten duty to check if your neighbor has returned from journey or not...or if it is actually mama Titi that's making the sound from her compound.

Family's got your back too. You can be completely jobless for months and still have a roof over your head and food to eat...no matter how little.

Need money to start business? The family contributes, no matter how little. In anything you do or face in life, you're not just doing so alone.

In summary, the harsh, cold, I-don't-owe-you-shit way of life perculiar to the west does not hold here. Over there, relationship of any form is purely transactional. you're all alone against the harsh realities of life...no matter how many neighbours or family members arround you.

Sadly though, we're losing this priceless feature every single day, and i fear we'll soon become hollowed, empty, cold and souless like them.

funny how OP just mentioned only ONE aspect from these countries (asides North Korea whose citizens, everybody know, has limited right). i was expecting a longggg list of don'ts from each country.

Dear OP, please we'll GLADLY give up one of those "rights" to be as developed and organized as those countries you mentioned up there.

i mean, we'll gladly give up climbing trees if it'd make us as advanced as Canada.

Travel / Re: What Do You Say When People Ask You About Nigeria? by youngRx(m): 12:39am On Dec 04, 2020
I'd put on a longing smile and say:

"it's summer all year round. the sun shines so brightly it lightens up your mood.

You could attend a party uninvited and have your bellyful of food. No resentment; No shame; no judgement.

There's a deep sense of community. you're automatically your neighbor's keeper. it's your duty to check if James the okada rider who lived next door has woken up or not; or if Mama Titi and her kids, who live just behind your house, have returned from their trip to the village.

the people are resilient, persistent and hell bent to succeed; and their sense of humor is second to none. they joke about any and everything. it's what keeps them going. it's how they survive".

Please, I need help.

With the recent stories surrounding NYSC. What documents are necessary?

I intend to submit reference letter and bank statement highlighting the payments. Is this two sufficient?

Also, only 10 months payment is captured. Do I have to explain that the first and last months were paid by cash?

Please help o

but nobody asked you to submit proof of payment. they only ask for work reference letter as proof of employment

Since when did you start showing such empathy for those that lost a loved one?

We've seen mass graves in Benue, Kaduna, Kogi, Borno etc resulting from the atrocities of Herdsmen & Boko Haram. Are those lives less valuable than those taken by Covid-19? Where was the national response? Where was the persistent media coverage?

Excuse me?? Why d hell wud u ask when i started showing empathy?? Did i ever tell you i didn't used to show it before?

If the killings in kaduna and co can be prevented by taking a vaccine or wearing a face mask, then call me to end it. If not, then channel your fustration to the president and chief security officers in the country. Last time i checked, it is the duty of any responsible government to guarantee the safety and security of its citizens.

the problem with humans, and especially Africans, is that we are extremely selfish. as long as it does not affect us or our loved ones, we don't care what others feel.

i bet all these cospiracy theorists have not lost a loved one to covid-19 that's why. we saw the mass graves and how thousands were offloaded into them like dead animals, yet thats not convincing enough, some people are still chanting freedom and civil rights.

a very crazy time we live in now.
