This was the way Nigerians were in the days we were growing up, before the military boys came and destroyed our heritage.

I am happy that this happened and I thank the Golvt for rewarding his honesty. Who knows? Nigeria might be good again.

Now, parents should please do parenting and not leave that aspect of work for Tom/Jerry and all the folks that live inside the TV.

Kudos to his parents.

You provide solutions to people that are fighting a just cause and whose resources contributing to the economic growth of the Nation. Niger-Delta fight is a JUST FIGHT. I 'm not from Niger-delta but the truth i speak.

boko haram are against western education and wants govt shut down all western schools. so, what do u think is the solution?

The brono govt thought they can get FG by introducing sharia in the state, now many Moslem's are now extremist, that's how boko haram came to be. they used phones, gums, bomb for fight, when they are sick they go to hospital and they cloths, shoes etc yet western education is a taboo.

This people and their chad counterpart should be wipe away.

FamilyRe: Wigwe (Beaten Ambassador's Wife): The Other Side Of The Story by ypad: 8:32am On Jun 01, 2011
I have read both side stories and this is my findings.

How comes the woman waited so long before taking the case to Police.
Why did star news paper not interviewed the man and the two kids?
I thought infidelity should be the reason for fight as commonly seen in couples but to my surprise it was food.
For a husband to reject a wife food shows she can not cook well or the man is angry at her, or she is not playing her role well or the man have eaten some where etc.
There is no smoke without fire. The woman most have wangle her tongue roughly to the man which lead to beaten.

In all the man is wrong by beaten his wife.

Unending tears for Nonye Okere .

Following fatal shooting of woman and protests by residents, family cries for justice
IT was Monday, January 31, 2011 and Mrs. Doris Nonye Okere was eager to get to work in good time that morning.
An employee of Bank PHB, Zone 1, Wuse, she knew there was busy day ahead.

Having said goodbye to her husband, Eugene and a brief cuddle of their baby, Chidiebere Promise, who would be eight months old in three days time, Mrs. Okere left her home in Mpape, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, for work in a taxi.

But she did not get to work and that was the last time her husband and baby boy would see her alive.
She was still on her way to work when a mobile police officer, attached to Mpape branch of Zenith Bank, opened fire on the taxi and shot her dead.

Another woman was wounded in the mouth while a third person, a student, also sustained injuries from the shooting.

A native of Ezinihitte Mbaise in Imo State, Nonye as she was popularly called, was the third daughter in her family.

On completion of her National Diploma at the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, she got married to Eugene Okere on November 14, 2009 at the St. Matthew Anglican Church, Maitama, Abuja.

Encouraged by her husband, she proceeded to the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, where she graduated with a Higher National Diploma (HND) last year.

She had earlier also worked with United Bank for Africa (UBA) at its Asokoro branch before she got the Bank PHB offer.

Investigations by The Guardian showed that the taxi in Abuja colours, in which Mrs. Okere was going to work, had made a U-turn in front of the Zenith Bank branch, when the police officer controlling traffic at that location stopped the driver.

The policeman was said to have confronted the driver and an argument ensued leading to the officer shooting at the vehicle and Mrs. Okere was fatally hit where she sat on the passenger seat.

An auto technician within the vicinity of the bank told The Guardian on Friday that irate passersby on seeing the lifeless body of the woman had accosted the policeman, who took refuge inside the bank premises.

According to him, “after shooting the woman, the policeman escaped and this led to protests from the people around the area, who were mostly auto- technicians.

“The angry mob took to the street, setting up bonfires on the road, which stopped all vehicular and pedestrian movement.

“Then, they set the Zenith Bank on fire as a result of which vehicles and other property within the bank were destroyed.

“Bank workers and customers took to their heels to escape the mob.

“It took the arrival of a team of policemen from the Mpape Police Division and the FCT Police Command to the scene before the mob was dislodged.

“The police were later joined by soldiers deployed from Guards Brigade as well as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)”.

When The Guardian visited their residence on Road 3, off Berger Quarry Road, Mpape last Friday, Eugene, a public servant, his eyes still moist and red with tears and obviously still in pains said:

“I was still at home preparing for work that morning when my phone rang and it was her number.
“I said to myself: ‘ She has just left to work, what could be the matter?’

“I picked and now heard a male voice that asked me: ‘ do you know the owner of this phone? The owner of this phone is dead.’

“ I fell down. I called back the number again and the voice said I should come over to Zenith Bank. I called my neighbour and told him what I heard.

“On reaching there, I saw a mammoth crowd at Oceanic Bank close to Zenith.

“Luckily, I saw one of my neighbours called Solomon and told him the message I received.
“We now called my wife’s number and the person picked and I told him I was at Oceanic Bank and also raised my hand up for the person to identify me. We met and indeed, it was my wife’s phone.

“I asked him what happened and he said I should go and see if it was my wife that the Police had shot. “As at that time, there was still shooting and I saw one taxi on the middle of the road painted in Abuja colours.
“I checked inside and on the passenger side was the lifeless body of my wife.

“I held her and started shouting before people came and dragged me away from the scene.
After sometime, an ambulance came and they took her body to the hospital”.

Earlier last Wednesday, the FCT Police Command Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, while appealing for calm, had said the police authorities had begun investigation into the incident.

He said the police authorities were not hiding or trying to exonerate the policeman who killed Mrs. Okere “but the police were investigating whether the Mobile policeman acted in consonance with the Police Force Order.

“ If not, he will be charged to court for prosecution”.

On whether the police would pay compensation to the family of the deceased, the Public Relations Officer told The Guardian “the issue of compensation is a Force policy.

“ The best the police can do in the circumstance is to charge the culprit to court for prosecution.
“Let’s try not to be emotional when it comes to matters involving the police.

“If we have to be emotional, then it will be terrible for us in the country.
“We have also been training our policemen not to be emotional when dealing with members of the public”.

The police spokesman, while also appealing for patience, said the Police were making efforts to reach the family of the deceased for dialogue.

“We want the family to be part of the investigation to ensure that justice is done”, he said.

But Okere told The Guardian last weekend that the police had not contacted the family since the incident happened even though he had earlier gone to the FCT Police Command to make a formal statement.
“Up till now, the police authorities have not contacted me.

There has been no attempt by the Police to know how we are doing. Nothing”.

He is, therefore, calling on President Goodluck Jonathan to intervene and ensure that justice is done in the matter.

“What I want is justice. That is all. I am also calling on the President, the Inspector General of Police, civil society groups, the media, the Labour Unions, all well- meaning Nigerians, Christians and Moslems to rise up so that we can curb this type of menace and brutality by the Nigeria Police”, he said amid tears.
“I never knew that one day it would be my turn.
“The security agents are supposed to secure our lives in this country but the Nigeria Police is no longer providing security for the people”, he added.

The devastated widower said the family was still awaiting the autopsy report from the Asokoro District Hospital where the body was deposited.

Since the incident, heavily armed soldiers and policemen have been guarding the bank premises and environs, ostensibly to prevent further demonstration and damage by the irate residents.

I'm all for disciplining a player, but you don't try and prove a point by ostracising one of your best players even after he has apologised. Like siasia himself was not a rebel and a trouble maker in his time! All that and westerhoff still called him up and played him, so why is he being a hypocrite?
I know what osaze Did was out of order, but hey these things happen in modern day football,  siasia should just be matured and let the matter die.
Being disciplined is a sign of maturity, which is what Siasia has just displaced.
