The Osun State Police Command has arraigned a 38-year-old man, Odesola Odedokun, for allegedly attempting to kill his daughter, Mary Odedokun, for money ritual.

The suspect was docked at Osogbo Magistrate Court alongside two other accused persons on a four-count charge bordering on attempted murder, unlawful possession of charms and fraud allegation levelled against them.

The two other accused were Isaac Ajao, 40, and Kazeem Ibrahim, 42.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Mustapha Tajudeen, told the court that the accused and others that were still at large committed the offence on March 7, 2018, at about 07:30hrs at Iron community.

He explained that Odedokun, the father of the victim and two other suspects conspired to kill one Mary Odedokun with the intention of using her for money ritual.



He added that the third accused person, Kazeem Ibrahim, fraudulently obtained the sum of N34,000 from one Mr Isaac Ajao under the guise of using it for money-doubling ritual.

The prosecutor said the offence was contrary to Sections 320, 418 and punishable under Section 419 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Volume 11.Laws of Osun State 2002.

A 30-year-old man identified as Manu Yakubu allegedly dumped his six-year-old daughter, Jennifer Ayuba, in a well after accusing her of witchcraft.

Yakubu has been arrested and arraigned before the Nasarawa State High Court on Tuesday for the dastardly act.

The prosecuting counsel for the police, James Anata, told the court that Yakubu committed the offence on December 8, 2017.

A prosecution witness, Samuel Kuje, told the court that he discovered the victim inside the well in his farm in the early hours of December 8.

The witness said, “I first thought she was a ghost but when I asked who she is, she said she was Jennifer Ayuba from Gidigidi.

“I then ran to Gidigidi immediately to inform the head of the community, Mr. Ashila and four other persons; we all went back to my site and brought out the child from the well; then I called the police from B Division in Lafia to arrest the accused.”

The police said Yakubu had in his statement confessed to the crime, explaining that he dumped his daughter in the well because he believed she was responsible for his ill luck.

Doctors are currently battling to save the life of a one-year-old baby after their landlady poured hot porridge on her during an argument with her mother over unpaid house rent.

The sad incident happened on Monday at around 6 pm in Zambia.

Reports say the victim's mother owed the landlady two months rent for February and March to the tune of K50 Zambian currency which equals N1800.

It was gathered that the landlady who is a teacher and famously known as Bana Paul started throwing things out of the house in the late evening of the fateful day and later got a hot pot which was burning on the brazier and poured it on the baby who was being held by the father.

Residents were stunned as a locally constructed aircraft reportedly produced by a Nigerian was said to have landed in the Ekwulobia area of Anambra state.

It is not clear who constructed the aircraft which caused quite a buzz in the locality on Tuesday as it landed.

Hopefully, the government will find the brain behind the innovation and encourage him or her because such talents are what the country needs at this time.

If well harnessed, such talents will not only create jobs for unemployed youths but will also help generate funds for the country whose economy is currently dwindling.

A dad has received death threats and been forced to move house after naming his son Donald Trump.

When Asadullah Poya’s wife gave birth to their third child in a tiny village in rural Afghanistan, he immediately thought of then presidential candidate and the current president of the US.


He had become inspired after reading a Dari translation of Trump’s How To Get Rich book.

My Poya said: ‘I thought, “this is a great man”. So when his baby was born in August 2016, and he saw that the boy had unusually blond hair, he named him Donald Trump, hoping it would bring him good fortune but the reverse has been the case.


Relatives and neighbours were furious that he broke with tradition and gave his son a non-Muslim name. He was forced to move his family to Kabul, and they have received death threats online.

Indications have emerged that a Catholic Priest, Reverend father Patrick Henry Edet, who dumped priesthood sometime last year has taken a wife barely one year after his renouncement.

The ex-priest who served at the Eman Uruan Diocese, Uruan Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom announced his resignation publicly during his Wednesday morning radio show, ‘Grace and Inspiration’ on Planet 101.1 FM, Uyo.

A woman has opened up to the court about her husband who usually sniffed her underwear every day she comes back home.

The 30-year-old marriage between an 88-year old man and his wife has been dissolved by an Ikorodu Customary Court in Lagos on Thursday.

The man Mr. Gbeminiyi Adeyiga, 88, had told the court he no longer wants to be married to his wife Sekinat because his wife was a chronic cheat.

The petitioner told the court that his wife sleeps with different men and has failed to give him the needed attention.

He said: “My wife does not take care of me any longer; she does not give me good food and different men come to sleep with her in our home.

“She frustrates me, slaps me and she also wants to kill me. I don’t want to die now, please separate us,’’ he pleaded.

A woman has beaten her seven-month-old baby to death who she believed was possessed by demons.

A South-African Magistrate’s Court heard on Wednesday that the accused, Evelyn Jacobs beat her baby continuously for two and half days in an attempt to perform an exorcism.

Jacobs is accused of killing her baby after she and her co-accused, Emmanuel Welcome, apparently tried to perform an exorcism on the child.

According to the testimony of the investigating officer, Detective Constable Kgositsile Taolo, the incident occurred after Welcome told the mother that her child was possessed by demons.

When they arrived at the shack, Welcome said the child was possessed by evil spirits and the mother concurred, so they then beat the child with open hands across her body and head.

“Welcome also took a Bible and started hitting the child with the Bible on her stomach. Later that night, the child could not sleep as she was in pain,” said Taolo.

“The witness said the next morning, she was woken up by the baby’s cries. When she looked at where the child and the mother, as well as Welcome, were sleeping, she saw them hitting the child with their open hands.

“She asked the two accused to stop, as they were hurting the child and could end up killing the baby.

“They, however, continued and she (the witness) took the child but as she was about to leave with her, Welcome grabbed the infant by the feet.

“A tug over the infant then ensued. The mother came and assisted Welcome and the two successfully managed to get the child away (from the witness).

“The mother then placed the child on the bed and handed Welcome a rope, which she instructed him to hit the child with.

“Jacobs took off her slippers and hit the child with the shoes. The child was crying and the witness again tried to take the child, but was unsuccessful.”

According to Taolo, the mother of the child took a leather whip and brutally hit the child with it.

Magistrate Cornelia Voster denied Jacobs’ bail application and the matter was postponed to later this month, awaiting a decision from the Director of Public Prosecutions on whether the matter will be transferred to a higher Court.

A highly brilliant dad has come up with an innovative parenting hack to breastfeed his fussy little daughter while his wife was away at work.

31-year-old Chef Anthony Favours, from Buffalo, New York, has captivated parents around the world with a trick that soothed his 10-month-old daughter Lily’ahna.

The father of five said he and his 25-year-old beautician wife Shalanda – who are also parents to Anthony Jr., 2, Josiya, 5, Savanna, 6, and Camiya, 9 – were having trouble figuring out how to feed their fussy baby girl when the dad was taking care of the kids at home, because Lily’ahna has breastfed since birth and would ‘always cry’ when given a bottle.

But when his baby daughter was five months old, Anthony said he finally had enough of her refusing the bottle and ‘screaming the house down’ when his wife was at work.

So he devised the genius plan of cutting a small hole in his shirt and poking the teat of a bottle filled with his wife’s breast milk through the gap to create a ‘functional boob’.

He said: "I’ve always had trouble feeding Lily’ahna because she is a very fussy baby.

"She would always just want her mum’s boob because it really soothed her.

"I’d always feel so useless and wished there was something I could do to help.

"When I was taking care of her, she’d constantly be grabbing my chest and just shook her head at the bottle.

"I would tell her “I’m sorry baby, I don’t have milk in there. It made me laugh.

"But she would get so frustrated and start crying, thinking that I was holding out on her.

"One day I just had enough and had to think of a quick solution when Sholanda was at work.

"The idea just came to me. I cut a hole in my shirt and stuck the top of the bottle through.

"My wife couldn’t believe that I actually cut up an expensive shirt.

"But that wasn’t on my mind at the time. All I cared about was my baby."

Anthony said that his daughter was ‘really confused’ at first, but as he poured some milk out she realised what it was and started drinking.

"She absolutely loved it and it made her really happy. She went straight to sleep.

"I was so relieved that I had figured something out. I felt like the best dad in the entire world."

A visibly frustrated female admission-seeker reportedly committed suicide after she saw her result in the just concluded JAMB examination.

The deceased 18-year-old identified only as Loveth took her life on Wednesday in Ekiugbo, Ughelli North local government area of Delta State.

She was said to have taken three bottles of Sniper in her house in a desperate bid to die because she felt that her dream to study Medicine had been truncated by the low score.

Sources privy to the matter said Loveth had gone to check her UTME result on Tuesday and was utterly disappointed by her score.

She wept profusely before she eventually decided to resort to suicide as she couldn't bear the disappointment.

An upholstery maker, Taiwo Opasina, 29, who is facing a three-count charge of incest, has been remanded in prison by an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The accused was arraigned for unlawful and indecent assault, unlawful sexual intercourse and penetrative sex with a minor.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the offences.

The prosecutor, Insp Chinalu Uwadione, alleged that the accused committed the offences in December 2017 at No. 17, Magbaola St., Badore in Ajah, a Lagos suburb.

He told the court that the accused on several occasions defiled his daughter and inserted his fingers into the private part of the four-year-old (names withheld).

“The teacher in the school of the victim noticed that she had been lately withdrawn and quiet.

“ On enquiry, she told the teacher about her father’s act,” he said.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A. Ipaye-Nwachukwu, remanded the accused in prison and ordered that his bail be secured at the special offences court.

She adjourned the case till April 9 for receipt of legal advice from the state Director of Public Prosecution.

A project manager for a major bank has become an internet sensation with his unusual habit of wearing high heels to work on a daily basis.

Ashley Maxwell-Lam, who recently moved from Queensland to Sydney, Australia, was prompted to change his footwear after his female colleague told him "her heels made her feel powerful".

He subsequently acquired nine pairs - five sparkly shoes for nights out and four plain colours for work.

Describing his look as "dapper feminine", Mr Maxwell-Lam insists he doesn't want to become a woman, he just loves the "contrast between masculinity and femininity" which makes people "question things".

He said: "I’m not going to lie, I like the attention, it’s an out-there thing to do, but it’s not the reason why I do it."

Ashley claims to receive the most abuse from people within what he described as his own gay community.

He claimed some asked him, "why are you wearing a heel, that's disgusting, you're a man?"

But he has refused to allow people's opinion get at him, adding that his mum taught him to be resilient, so he takes "good with the bad".

Although he doesn’t wear heels day in day out, when he has new clients to meet he makes sure he wears them back on afterwards because according to him, "It’s a huge talking point, an icebreaker."

A supposed happy day turned out sad for a bride after she was arrested on her way to her wedding venue.

The 32-year-old Amber Young who was allegedly Driving Under the Influence (DUI) triggered a three-car collision that got someone hospitalised with minor injuries.

An officer suspected Young, who was wearing a white, open-back, floor-length dress, was driving impaired.

She was handcuffed and taken to a police station where she submitted to a blood test and was found guilty.

The bride signed a criminal citation for DUI before she was released to her fiancee, according to Sgt. Chriswell Scott of the Marana Police Department.

Scott said: “This could’ve turned out way worse than it did.

“It’s supposed to be the happiest day of her life, and this just goes out as a reminder as to why you should never drive while impaired.”

It was not clear if Young eventually got to her wedding venue in good time after her release.

A suspected goat thief reportedly jumped into a crocodile-infested river in his bid to escape an angry mob.

Shadreck Vitto, 23, had been in hiding for three days after stealing four goats in his village of Chikwawa, Southern Malawi, according to a report.

Luck, however, ran out on him when some villagers spotted him in Lazaro Village and engaged him in a hot chase.

They trapped him on the banks of Maperera River, and he was faced with two options — either face the beating or dive into the water and he opted for the second option.

Almost immediately after he jumped in, Shadreck was attacked by two crocodiles that mauled his shoulder and legs.

His screams attracted some good-hearted people who rescued him and rushed him to nearby hospital where his condition was said to be stable.

Talk about being faced by the devil and the deep blue sea and Shadreck's case might just be a perfect illustration.

A Nigerian victim of human trafficking has narrated the harrowing ordeal they suffered in the hands of their principals.

The victim, whose name was not revealed, shared her story in Bein City, Edo State during a Roundtable on Migration and Human Trafficking organised by the Nigerian Senate.

The victim who is now married and expecting a baby with her husband stated that she was 19 when she was trafficked from Edo State to Russia and forced into prostitution for two years.

She said: “They told me I was going into prostitution for six months.

“I was going there to make money to further my education.

“We had to sleep with different kinds of men. It was on the street. We were standing on the road.

“She (my madam) would say no (we can’t stop work), there is a tissue she used to give to us to block it (the menstruation). She does not allow us to stay at home.

“We paid our madam for food, clothes, and also contributed money for the house rent. We bought the condoms ourselves.”

On the number of clients and money she made in a day, the victim said: “It depends…. Sometimes, six, seven or eight clients.
“1,000 rubles per client (about 6,120 naira). For an entire day, you could make 10,000 rubles, if you are lucky you could make 15, 000.”

She narrated how she was often assaulted by men and also arrested and detained for days by the police.



“I was beaten up and raped by four men. They even urinated on me when I asked them to pay me.

“I didn’t care to report to the Russian authorities that I was raped. Apart from the fact that I didn’t have a proof, I thought they won’t believe me since I was a prostitute.”

The victim said she eventually decided to quit prostitution, and was able to escape to Nigeria without her international passport through the help of a Nigerian she identified as “Mr. Ken”.

But before then she was able to pay her “madam” $15,000 out of the $50,000 she was expected to pay in order to buy back her freedom in Russia.

Reacting to the confession, the British Deputy High Commissioner in Nigeria, Laure Beaufils, said at the roundtable that “4000 to 6000 times, some Nigerian girls are forced to have sex with strangers for the rest of their lives.”

The Senate president, Bukola Saraki, thanked the victims for sharing their experiences which he said would help the government take steps towards tackling human trafficking.

Saraki said the Senate was ‘losing sleep’ over irregular migration and human trafficking in the country, and that as representatives of the people, “they are determined to tackle the problem.”

He said, “Nigeria currently ranks 23 on the Global Slavery Index of 167 countries with the highest number of slaves.



“Human trafficking is third in the ignoble hierarchy of the commonly occurring crimes in Nigeria, according to UNESCO.

“Nigeria accounts for the world’s highest number of irregular migrants going through the Agadez Route. Our citizens represent the fifth largest number of migrants crossing the Mediterranean Sea into Europe.

“The number of Nigerian females arriving in Italy alone increased 600-fold in just three years. 10,000 Nigerians are estimated to have lost their lives on the perilous journey in five months of last year alone.

“We have seen the bleak images of coffins of 26 Nigerian girls, who were laid to rest in Italy last November. This is what brings us today to ancient Benin.”

A man reportedly poured acid on his sleeping wife because she gave birth to a baby girl when he had wanted a boy.

According to reports, the 25-year-old victim identified as Farah, was severely burned in the alleged attack by Siraj, also known as Bhura, in the town of Moradabad near New Delhi area of India on International Women's Day.

The 32-year-old man accused her of failing to fulfill his demand for a dowry and not delivering him a male child.

Police officials have launched a manhunt with the aim of arresting the man for voluntarily causing grievous bodily harm using acid.

Farah was rushed to the district hospital after the cowardly attack in a serious condition with burns to her face, hands, and abdomen.

Her sister Nusrat Jahan said the young woman married the labour contractor eight years ago, but they began to fight in the past year when he demanded a dowry.
She said the recent birth of Farah's second daughter was the trigger for the alleged acid attack.

Farah said her husband's family began to give her a hard time after she gave birth to her first daughter, and later escalated to beating her.

"After the birth of the first girl, my in-laws started to target me as if I deliberately delivered a baby girl," he said.

"The harassment kept intensifying as time passed by. For the past one year, things had become really bad."

Farah said Siraj, under pressure from his family, would demand she go to her parents and get money to give to them.

"When I didn't oblige them, they started to beat me up. It come to a head when my second daughter was born," she said.

"I was trying to live with the daily dose of torture thinking about the wellbeing of my daughters. I was wondering if I part ways from Siraj who would provide for my two daughters and myself.

"But I could never imagine that he would go to the extent of pouring acid on me. I won't forgive him for this ever."

Three doctors and two nurses were suspended after they used the amputated leg of an accident victim as a pillow.

The incident which could pass for the worst case of medical negligence and apathy happened in Jhansi Medical College, India.

The suspended workers were said to be on emergency duty on the fateful day when the accident victim was brought in.
Among the affected workers are Dr Mahendra Singh, senior resident Dr Alok Agarwal and two nurses Deepa Narang and Shashi Srivastava.


Director General medical education Dr PK Gupta said that departmental proceedings would be initiated against the consultant doctor, Dr Praveen Saraogi, who was supposed to be on call in an emergency but failed to respond in time.

The victim, a school bus conductor, lost one of his legs and around half a dozen students got injured when the bus overturned in Lehcura area in Jhansi district on Saturday after it collided with some animals.

The conductor of the bus, Ghanshyam, 28 who was standing on the gate got trapped and his leg got severed.

Zambian authorities on Saturday deported controversial South African dancer Zodwa Wabantu after authorities vowed she would not be allowed to perform because she dances without underwear, the dancer’s promoter said.

She had been billed to perform at an album launch later on Saturday evening, but was sent back when she landed in the morning at the Kenneth Kaunda international airport.

“I can confirm that Zodwa has been deported back to South Africa by the immigration department,” her promoter Lucky Munakampe told AFP, adding no reasons were given for her deportation.
Immigration department officials were not reachable on their phones for comment.

Zambia’s religious affairs minister Godfridah Sumaili told AFP last week that Zodwa would not be allowed to perform in the country.



“Zambia is a Christian nation where morality and ethics have to be followed. We don’t expect a woman to dance without underwear,” Sumaili said.

Zambia is a largely conservative country where the majority of people practice Christianity.

Last year the censorship board in neighbouring Zimbabwe barred Wabantu from performing at an annual carnival after a protest by a local actress.

Following a backlash, censorship authorities later backtracked and allowed Wabantu to perform at a private venue, but she refused to go saying she was afraid.

A popular Nigerian politician has been remanded in Kirikiri Prisons for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s five-year-old daughter.

The accused, identified as Franklin Adeyanju, 58, who resides at 24, Tijani Street, Dopemu, a suburb of Lagos, is being tried by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, for defilement.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Clifford Ogu, had told the court that the offence was committed on February 28, at the accused residence.

Ogu said that the accused resides in the same compound with the girl’s parents.

He said: “The accused called the girl, a 5-year-old, to his apartment and was fingering her private part when another neighbour, who heard the screaming of the girl, entered the apartment.



“The accused was caught in the act and the woman, who saw him, shouted in order to attract the attention of other neighbours.”
