The United States president Donald Trump has said his meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari was “so lifeless”, Financial Times said on Monday.

This according to the report was shortly after a meeting between the two leaders at the White House on April 30 where they discussed issues bordering on fighting terrorism and economic growth.

However, as Trump is set to welcome President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya, Financial Times in an article titled Africa looks for something new out of Trump claimed that the US leader described his April meeting with Buhari as ‘so lifeless’.

The paper added that Trump warned his aides that he never wanted to meet someone so lifeless again.

“The first meeting, with Nigeria’s ailing 75-year-old Muhammadu Buhari in April, ended with the US president telling aides he never wanted to meet someone so lifeless again, according to three people familiar with the matter,” the newspaper claimed.

Meanwhile, neither the American nor the Nigerian government has reacted to the report.

Pandemonium has broken out in Osun State after irate youths in Iwo town set a police station ablaze following the alleged shooting of an undergraduate, Tunde Nofiu, by an officer attached to the notorious Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS.

Nofiu was said to be spending holidays in the town when he was gunned down on Thursday night by a trigger-happy operative of the squad.

This sparked a massive protest by colleagues of the deceased who gathered and set ablaze the police station on Friday morning.

The police had yet to issue an official statement about the incident which caused chaos in the town.

Nollywood has been thrown into a state of mourning as veteran actor, Chike Osuji has died at the age of 65

The sad news was disclosed by the Special Assistant to the president of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) on media and publicity, Ochendo McSmith.

Osuji was a native of Umuokoro Awaka in Owerri North Local Government of Imo State.

Until his death, the deceased featured in movies including ‘The book of Harragon’, ‘40 Days in the Wilderness’, ‘The Governor’, among many others.


He is survived by his wife and four children.

An apparently fed-up Nigerian man, Isa Mohammed Munlaila, has embarked on a journey by foot from Lagos to Abuja to protest President Muhammadu Buhari's re-election bid in 2019.

Mohammed has a box with an inscription, 'RIP APC' with him on the journey.

Addressing newsmen today shortly before he commenced his journey, he said he decided to embark on the protest against president Buhari's administration which according to him, has brought untold hardship in the country.



Clad with a pair of black glasses, Mohammed carried the 'RIP APC' box on his head in readiness for the journey ahead.



This is coming days after President Muhammadu Buhari trekked 800metres from mosque to his house in Daura, Katsina State.

Also recall that prior to Buhari's swearing-in ceremony shortly after his victory in the 2015 elections, a 33-year-old Hashimu Suleiman trekked from Lagos to Abuja to celebrate the president.

Another staunch supporter of the president, Abubakar Duduwale, recently developed a serious leg injury after he trekked from Yola to Abuja to witness the presidential inauguration in May 2015.

Seems like the trekking season is here again, this time, with angst contrary to the previous excitement.

People who are of the view that Nigerians are lazy really need to have a rethink right now as virtually every evidence proves otherwise.

According to a ranking by a global business magazine, Bloomberg, Nigerians are the eighth most hardworking foreigners in Donald Trump's United States.

The report released yesterday showed that Nigerians scored 71.0 percent in the list of the hardest and most skilled immigrant groups in the US which was topped by Ghana with 75.2 percent.

Bulgaria and Kenya were ranked second and third with 74.2 percent and 73.4 percent respectively. Nigeria ranked in between Australia (7th) and Malaysia (9th).

Ethiopia made it to the 4th most hardworking country while Egypt came out 5th and Liberia 9th African country on the list.



Going by the report, Africans are the most productive immigrants in the US ahead of those from Mexico and Central America, who constitute more than 70 percent of foreign nationals in that country.

Mexico is by far the most common country of origin, but the population of Mexican immigrants in the U.S. (both documented and undocumented) actually fell 6 percent from 2007 to 2015, according to the Pew Research Centre.

The numbers of Salvadorans, Hondurans and Guatemalans in the U.S. continued to grow.

“If we want more high-skilled, hardworking, English-speaking, ready-to-integrate immigrants, it looks like the most obvious place to find them is in African countries where English is widely spoken,” Bloomberg journalist Justin Fox, who came up with the report, said.

The report, developed from the 2016 US Census Bureau American Community Survey, ranked Nigeria 8th among the Most-Educated Immigrant Groups in the U.S.

A woman has reportedly collapsed and died yesterday in a Pentecostal church in Sapele, Delta State.

The deceased identified as Roona Iyeke Ayomanor was the wife of Churchill Ayomanor, the former Community Liaison Officer an oil company.

Ayomanor's death is coming barely one month after a popular trader in the town collapsed and died in the same church.

The service was said to be on when Ayomanor suddenly slumped. She was said to have been rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was confirmed dead.

It was gathered that the husband of the deceased woman upon hearing the news of his wife's death, collapsed.

He was rushed to a hospital in the Gana axis of Sapele and is said to be under admission.

The Osun State government has declared Monday, August 20, 2018, as public holiday to celebrate traditionalists in the state.

The public holiday will be used to celebrate the annual Isese festival by traditionalists in the state.

This was contained in a press release signed by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr Adebisi Obawale.

He explained that Isese Day was a public holiday set aside for traditional believers in the state by Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s administration.

According to him, the holiday was in recognition of the annual Isese festival’s grand finale, which allows the adherents of traditional religion to come together for the annual celebration.

“Also known as Traditional Worshipers Day, Isese Day is the celebration of the peak of festivities among adherents of traditional religion.

“The government enjoined all the traditional believers to celebrate the Isese day in peace and avoid any act capable of breaching the peace of the state”, the statement read.

Aretha Franklin, the legendary Queen of Soul is dead.

She died on Thursday at her home in Detroit at the age of 76, eight years after she was diagnosed with cancer.

Franklin had more than 20 US number ones over a career spanning seven decades.

She gave her final performance last November at a gala in New York held in aid of the Elton John Aids Foundation.

In a statement, her family said: "In one of the darkest moments of our lives, we are not able to find the appropriate words to express the pain in our heart.

"We have lost the matriarch and rock of our family. The love she had for her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins knew no bounds."

The family also confirmed her death was due to advanced pancreatic cancer of the neuroendocrine type.

Franklin’s 60-plus-year career was one of broken boundaries and broken records. She held the record for the most-charted female artist in Billboard history for nearly 40 years, with 73 titles in the Hot 100. (Nicki Minaj surpassed the record last year.)

Her first Hot 100 song, “Won’t Be Long,” debuted when Franklin was just 18 years old in 1961. She also racked up 18 Grammy Awards over the course of her career, and in 1987, she was the first woman to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

And while Franklin is known for her work as a soul singer, her astonishing, powerful, intelligent voice — the voice that the state of Michigan declared to be a natural resource — can do almost anything. A visibly frustrated woman caused a mild drama today when she laid down in the middle of a busy road to protest the non-payment of salry for 13 months.

The staff of Makurdi local government area of Benue state embarked on a protest earlier today to vent their anger over their outstanding salaries for 13 months.

The woman added extra to her own protest and blocked vehicular movement temporarily.

Some of the protesting staff claimed that they have been removed from the payroll for no genuine reason and, as such, have not received salary for over a year.

They also claimed that some of their colleagues have died as a result and some are battling high blood pressure and other manner of diseases.

The protesters called on the government to look into their complaints and ensure they are being paid salaries that are due them.

While some men believe that wearing boxers isn't their thing, some researchers have come up with a shocker in a recent study.

The researchers from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health have come up with findings that men who wear boxers tend to have higher sperm counts and better quality sperm than men who wear tighter underwear.

According to the study which was published in the journal Human Reproduction, wearing boxers does not harm anyone.

Study co-author Jorge Chavarro, an associate professor of nutrition, epidemiology and medicine at Harvard said: “It will definitely not harm anyone, and it will probably help the men who are likely to benefit from a small boost in their sperm counts.”

Based on the typical cycle of sperm production, he estimates it would take about three months of wearing boxers, after a period of wearing tighter options, to see sperm levels increase.



The study was based on data from 656 men who were part of couples seeking infertility treatment at Massachusetts General Hospital between 2000 and 2017.

The men answered questions about their lifestyle habits, including the type of underwear they typically wore, and provided semen samples for analysis. (Some also provided blood samples for hormone testing.) The researchers then compared the results of semen and blood analyses with lifestyle survey responses.

The 53% of men who reported typically wearing boxers had roughly 25% higher sperm concentrations, 17% higher total sperm counts and 33% higher motile sperm counts than men who wore other types of undergarments, according to the study. The most significant differences were observed among men who favored boxers and those who chose briefs or jockeys, likely because tighter underwear styles have been shown to increase scrotal temperature, a known hindrance to sperm production.

“The differences in temperature are not huge,” Chavarro says, “but even small differences in temperature can make an enormous impact on sperm production.”

The researchers did not find an association between underwear choice and testosterone production, but they did find that men who wore tighter underwear tended to have higher levels of a hormone related to sperm production, compared to boxer-wearers. This suggests that the brain may be trying to compensate for decreases in sperm count, Chavarro says.

President Muhammadu Buhari is yet to return back to the country even after spending his proposed 10 days in London where he had travelled on a vacation.

The President left Abuja on August 3 amidst massive defection of lawmakers from the ruling All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party.

Rumours emerged yesterday that the president had planned to extend his visit, although the presidency has debunked the rumours and warned Nigerians to desist from peddling such.

The Presidency stated that the rumour “is currently being mischievously circulated on social media platforms, to create the impression that it’s related to the President’s current vacation," and warned the public to “kindly take note of the date, 2017.

It said: “The President has NOT extended his ongoing 10-Working-Days vacation."

DailyNaija recalls that the president has spent over 10 days in London where it is believed he would also attend to his health in the course of his visit.

By calculation, the President should be back in the country on 13th August, but nothing has been heard about the President so far.

A paedophile priest who was accused of raping an 11-year-old girl has blamed the devil and said he thought the victim was up to 15 years already.

Upon arrest, the 70-year-old priest, Father Paolo Glaentzer, said “the devil gave him a trip,” and made him sexually assault the girl in his car in Italy.

However, the priest who was accused of child molestation was not jailed by the court, instead, he is being held on 'house arrest' pending the investigation.


When questioned by an Italian newspaper, the disgraced priest said he was “very sorry” for what happened to the girl, but then pinned the blame on Satan arguing d that “the devil tripped me.”


Glaentzer claimed his encounter with the girls was “an exchange of affection” that spiralled out of control, adding that his victim seemed “much more mature than she was.”

“I found out she was 11 years old...I thought she was at least 15,” he told the newspaper.

But even if the victim was actually 15, the priest would have still broken the law due to Italy age of consent being 16.

The journalist interviewing the priest noted that he seemed totally unphased by the ongoing criminal case, and insisted that he has entrusted himself "to Jesus and Mary.”

The 87-year-old lawyer and former lawmaker Senator Cyrus Nunieh has been reported dead, barely 10 months after his lavish wedding to his much younger bride, Rosemary Ijeoma in Rivers State.

Nunieh's wedding which took place in October 2017 broke the internet and became a trend for several days.

The National Executive Council of Ogoni Youth federation (OYF), announced the development today.

Nunieh was the first legal practitioner and first senator in Ogoniland.

Baking a cake could be tiring especially for some amateur who probably want to do it all by themselves in a bid to learn something new.

But there are certain challenges which such persons might just keep bumping into but this article will allay all your fears and make it very much easier for you to bake your own homemade cake at home with little or no hassles.

First Things First, here are the ingredients you will be needing to make your yummy cake (This is largely dependent on the size of the cake you would want to bake though):

4 cups (500g) Flour
12 Eggs
4 sticks (500g) Butter (NOT Margarine)
400g (2 cups) Granulated Sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
3 tablespoons vanilla extract
½ cup brandy

An oven.

Cake mixer.

Kitchen scale.

Sieve (Colander).

Egg Whisk.

Bowls.

Cake Pan: 10 inches in diameter and 2.5 inches deep.

Step By Step Recipe

Step 1

Cream the butter and the sugar

Put the soft butter and the granulated sugar into the mixer and start creaming. In case you do not have a cake mixer, you can actually alternate with a mortar and a pestle or a bowl and a spatula (Trust me, it is not as easy as it is spelt o). If you are using an automatic cake mixer, ensure you read the manual to understand how best to use it as what works for Mixer A might not work for Mixer B (depends largely on the product yeah).

You will know you have achieved a well-creamed sugar/butter mix when the mixture looks whiter than the butter you started with, softer (it should be able to drop from a spoon) and also, you can barely feel the granulated sugar when you taste the creamed butter and sugar although some sugar could be as stubborn as me, Lol.

Step 2

Grease your Cake Pan

Grease your cake pan with butter and add some flour into the greased pan. Be sure the flour touches every part of the pan and then pour out the flour. This is to enable the cake to come out freely after it must have been baked.

Step 3

Whisk Your Eggs

Break all the eggs into a big bowl and whisk them to a smooth blend. If you are using an egg whisker, then perfect, but in case you like to suffer a little extra, you can use a fork and beat after breaking the eggs into a plate.

Step 4

Mix your creamed butter/sugar with the egg

Mix until you have achieved a smooth fluffy blend of the creamed butter/sugar and the eggs. This could be both boring and interesting depending on what you like on a normal day.

A young man who just arrived Nigeria from China was arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force around the Mile 2 axis of Lagos State on the claims that 'he was too fresh'.

Speaking to DailyNaija, the young man who preferred anonymity said he was both surprised and embarrassed when the officers rounded him up on his way to Trade Fair.

According to him, they conducted a search on him and subsequently took him to their station in FESTAC, probably to intimidate him and extort money from him.

He said: "I have always read about these things on tabloids but I never knew they were really real until they accosted me today. They searched me and even took me to their station probably hoping I would bribe them to release me, but I was not in a hurry so I was ready to get to the end of it with them.


"When they saw that I was not going to feel intimidated, they simply allowed me to walk free."

Recall that this is part of the ills that popular rapper, Falz detailed in his 'This is Nigeria' hit song which was recently banned by the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC on the grounds of 'vulgar lyrics'.

This is one of the several cases of police harassments that Nigerian youths go through on a daily basis.

Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh has called out Arik Airline for delaying her flight to Port Harcourt and making her lose millions of Naira.

A higher percentage of Nigerians are hopeful that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP will win the 2019 general elections.

DailyNaija ran a poll on Twitter following the defection of Senate President Bukola Saraki on Tuesday and the results show that more Nigerians are rooting for the PDP.

The question for the poll was: "Bukola Saraki is obviously a Big Fish in Nigeria's political clime. Now that he just left the ruling APC for PDP, What becomes the fate of the ruling party? Does PDP have all it takes to stage a comeback? Who wins the 2019 General Elections?

The poll which ran for one day had PDP topping the list of the political parties selected by the respondents.

54% of the respondents voted PDP while APC and Others had a tie of 23% each.



The ruling APC has been faced with a serious crisis which has caused the party to divide into two factions (nPDP and rAPC) within the space of months.

Meanwhile, the national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole has insisted that the party is not shaken by the recent mass defection of its members to PDP.

Three sisters reportedly stabbed their father to death after they got tired of enduring sexual abuse from him for years.

The Russian sisters are now facing 15 years in jail following their action of killing their sexually abusive father to death after 'years of torture'.

The teenagers Kristina, 19, Angelina, 18 and Maria, 17, are accused of murdering their heroin-addict father Mikhail Khachaturyan.


He was found with dozens of stab wounds near a lift inside the family's block of flats in Moscow, Russia.

Reports citing police, say the sisters all confessed to jointly killing their 57-year-old father, claiming they suffered years of appalling sexual, physical and emotional abuse.

Kristina told police: “We hated him and we wanted just one thing to happen – either that he disappeared or that we never knew him. We wanted him just to go away and never come back.”

The sisters alleged that on the day of the attack he had threatened them with a knife. One of the sisters had grabbed the knife and stabbed him, and the others joined in the attack.

Friends and neighbours claimed the father was tyrannical and that his wife left him because of his abuse, while a son, now a student at Moscow University, had been “thrown out” of the home by the father.

One family friend said she knew that at least one girl had been “sexually abused”.
