Hi friends,
Please I need help in transferring money from my GTB account in Nigeria to my USA bank account.

I misplaced my ATM while in transit and do not operate online banking. What options do I have available.

Has anyone being in this dilemma before or knows someone with similar experience that could help me out. It really urgent! Thank you, I eagerly await suggestions.

Call your bank customers care and setup your online account, a friend did something like that.

Visa approved this morning at the Abuja consulate. I was scheduled for the 15th of August, but was fortunate to have rescheduled to 9th of August and do you know that I did that on the 7th of August?

Profile - BSc. ( Hons) Physics from the University of Jos Nigeria ( top of graduating class of 2017), 2 Published papers and abstract. Two awards from the American physical society. GRE physics -91 percentile (s). One Harvard e-print( NASA/SAO).

Funding- merit scholarship of $22,627 + teaching assistant position starting Spring. The merit scholarship has nothing to do with the teaching position. Course- masters in optics / optical sciences

Interview : window 8, had rejected someone already before I went to meet him..

VO - Good morning, pass me your passport

Me - hope you slept well! Here is my passport and i20

VO- okay why are you going to the City University of New York?

Me- Apart from the fact I was awarded a generous merit scholarship which of course I am grateful for, I chose this school because of the on going research of my..... VO cut in... He was amazed at the scholarship amount.

VO - how did you get this scholarship?

Me - my excellent undergraduate grades, previous research and awards... Cuts in again.

VO - which school did you graduate from?

Me- University of Jos, Nigeria

VO- that's a very good school you know.. I concurred.

VO- okay, what's optical science?

Me- I was surprised at the question, but I went ahead to give him a detailed answer.

VO- from your answer, I must tell you that you are a credible student.

Me- thank you sir.

VO- Great, but you know that New York is very expensive.. I have been there when I went for a burial.. I couldn't hear him clearly.. I don't want you to go and struggle even though you will be given stipends.. So where are you going to stay? Your accomodation? I don't want you to stay in an uncomfortable housing?.... We both laughed and our laughter echoed. Okay I will be approving your visa but I will advice you, make sure you study well, and don't forget to come back home if things go rough... Congrats again on your scholarship.. Then passes the white pick up paper, and the congratulations slip.. Have a great day.

Me- Thank you very much sir.

NB - I really thank Jesus Christ. If you don't believe in God, please I do. He has led me through since my undergrad days and during the demise of my dad. And I believe He will make me perform exploits..May God name be praised.. I wish those who are yet to be interviewed, a successful visa interview...

Congratulations scholar

There are lots of them but I am sure you will not like to apply to school that won't fund you also, if you are not writing GRE for admission please write it because of visa interview. Some VO want to hear that you wrote standardized test.

Me: I was thought most of the theoretical part of the course in school although it had a practical part. Xo due the theoretical knowledge I have only for this course makes it difficult for me. And the topic that was quite challenging was Radiation.
VO : What part of radiation?
Me: Black body and di-electric.
VO : Your Aunt is sponsoring you?
Me : Yea sure
VO : why is she sponsoring you.
Me : Fiammmmmm everything I wanted to say don fly comot, was mixing words at this point. I just looked at the VO and told him am tensed up, he smiled I took in two deep breaths and with a smile I delivered my speech. Apart from the fact that she sponsored my part of my undergraduate study, she's a business woman and we have similar interest, she owns lots of American vehicles which she uses for business mist times I maintain these vehicles because I have the necessary tools and skill, so I them told her about my plans to gain more skills and setup my own auto repair shop. She believes in my abilities and thinks with proper training and certifications I can do better and manage my own auto repair shop. She also bought the idea on the condition that I will also maintain her cars.(smiling).
VO : What's s she into?
Me: She's into real estate, oil and gas, she owns alot of gas station in the country.
The VO just reached out his hands to the white paper, saying the usual stuff and the words doing the usual in from one ear and out from the other. I just collected the paper and left.

Thanks y'all once again, for those preparing for their visa interview I wish you success. Preparation begets confidence, confidence begets success.

Congratulations

Good day, this is Adenle Habeeb.
The challenge I am experiencing on MTU admittance is funny. Kindly advise me.
After expecting I-20 documents twice, which led to deferral, I had to use my money to request for the document by Eship Global for #35,000. I had to hurriedly apply for VISA process. I was expected to resume school by 25th August but the Embassy in Lagos gave me an appointment date on 29th August. In other to seek for an expedited date, I tried paying SEVIS fee through a friend in the state. Unfortunately, the payment status is still pending till today. I was told that it could be challenge from Western Union and they promise to return the money in 7 days time. What do you think I should do as the department is already asking me about the status of my visa process.

You can request for expedite date to get earlier date and also for the sevis payment, go with the western union receipt and you are fine.

PROPOSED TRANSCRIPT

School-Eastern illinois university.
Masters in political science.
No scholarships.

My transcript.

Me- Good morning.
V.O-Morning, pass me your passport and I-20.
Me- passed both.
V.o- where are you going?
Me- I am going to eastern illinois university for my masters in political science with concentration on my thesis( dependency and underdevelopment in Africa, Nigeria as my case study.
V.o - Tell me about your research.
Me- My research looked to find the root causes of underdevlopment and historically how Nigeria came to find herself in such a dependent and underdeveloped state it is currently. The research also aims to provide problem solving answers... v.o cuts in.

V.o- why the usa and not Nigeria ?

Me- As a future leader, writer and lecturer in Nigeria the USA due to it level of academic system which is of the highest level creates an avenue for me to further on my research which i started back here in Nigeria, schooling over there will help me gain ist hand knowledge and global outlook of problems of Nigeria and also garner isthand experience on how and why the western world especially usa continually continues to politically and economically thrive excellently and through that develop important and reformative strategies and plans, problem solving answers to alleviate Nigeria from the dependent and underdeveloped state it is.
V.o -How did you know about the school ?

me- I carried out a research on usnews.com. Fortunately for me a childhood friend of mine (XXXX) is also doing is m.sc geography there which made it all easier.
V.o- How many schools did you apply to ?
Me- I applied to two schools, eiu and the other in canada.
V.o - how many gave you admission ?
Me- both schools.
V.o- why this school over the other ?
Me- Eiu offers an extensive graduate study in political science where the school through my interactions with my graduate coordinatoor dr j ashley and the excellent department curriculum overview I was impressed about the improved and advanced academic environment on ground for me to further my education and research work. Including their experiential learning process where all is not based on classwork but where student are sent on internships, govt simulation sessions known as MIG which i believe would beneficial for me in career path. The school isalso less expensive than the other school.

House please help look into this for corrections and further. I just recently joined

This is proposed transcript, why are you predicting VO will cut you. Put all your points outside here and allow people to help suggest if they are good points or not.

Book abuja and try to get an expedited appointment, if it is rejected, I would advise you not to go for the interview cos the probability of being approved one day before your resumption date is like 5% so you can defer to spring but you can try if you want cos life is about trying.

I dont agree with this, one can always try his luck because I went to the interview after my school already resumed but all i need to do is to request for an extension letter from my school. I was previously denied so I got a new date and I was approved.

Hello Guys!
Visa Approved this morning at the US Consulate, Frankfurt.
The consular officer allowed me to finish my sentences so I was really free to express myself.

VO: Passport and I-20 please
Me: I did as I was asked.

VO: What are you going to do in the US
Me: I am going for my Master’s degree in Ocean, Coastal and Earth Sciences at UTRGV

VO: How did you find out about this school?
ME: I got to speak with one of the lecturing staff of the University and my intended department during a geoscience conference in Lagos, Nigeria in 2018. He told me the department was looking for graduates of Geology for the new phase of their research and when I shared my Geology background and interests with him, he told me I would be a good fit and that I should apply. So I did further research on the school via Princeton review, usnews and other search parameters and I was satisfied so I applied.

VO: Your bachelors is also in Geology?
Me: Yes it is.

VO: You got your bachelors from Germany or Nigeria?
Me: Nigeria please.

VO: When did you come to Germany?
Me: April this year.

VO: What are you doing in Germany?
Me: I am currently studying Sustainable Mining and Remediation Management at TU Bergakademie Freiberg.

VO: Why don't you want to continue this programme in Germany?
Me: I put in for the Sustainable Mining programme here so I could research on the remediation of wastewater and heavy metals from mines but apparently the mines in Germany have been closed including the University’s experimental teaching mine where I am supposed to conduct my research. So it is no longer feasible to continue the programme. I believe going to the US at this time is a good call for me.

VO: Who is paying for your programme?
Me: Myself and my elder sibling

VO: What will you do with this degree?
Me: My career focus has always been in academia so the acquired training from this degree will strategically place me to take on a lecturing position at my alma mater (the University of Benin) as a researcher of environmental hydrogeology and I do have a competitive advantage here due to my recent work experience as a research assistant in the Department of Geology and also because the department only has one professor of hydrogeology that is aging and close to retirement. He would be glad to mentor me once more like he did as my thesis supervisor.

VO: Sorry did you say you finished from Benin?
Me: Yes, the University of Benin, Nigeria.
Me: Sorry the Benin I mentioned is different from the country called Benin. Benin is a city in Nigeria as well.
VO: Oh thanks for the correction. I actually thought you were referring to the country Benin. I'm sorry I'm not so familiar with places in Nigeria. (We both laughed).
VO went ahead to tell me that it's just like that in the US. That Springfield is another confusing term that is up to 35 in the US. I quickly said "oh so you need to specify the particular Springfield you're going to in the US". To this, the VO said YES. We laughed again after she told me one of her Springfield experiences.

VO: Alright your visa is approved....
VO: You did a good job answering all my questions. Please answer the questions same way at the port of entry okay.
I smiled and said I will.

Deficit - $30k
No SOA

Congrats smooth interview

Oga, all you scribbled here is wrong.

If your Indian, Lebanese or Nigerian boss in Corporate Nigeria used words like "shut up", the same does not apply everywhere. The corporate culture differs across different countries. In Corporate America, you don't use words carelessly to address people. Many CEOs and Senior Managers have resigned because they used harsh words to address people and were prosecuted for it. So, don't sit in your bedroom and write things you know nothing about. By the way, it is "corporate" and not "corperate"

I have always said that if you believe every word on every transcript you see here, you are fooling yourself. A lot of transcripts here are padded, adulterated or fitted with words to make them sound interesting. In some cases, it is very easy to spot such transcripts and in other cases, it may be difficult. A few days ago, someone mentioned that she paused the VO to tell the VO how she fell into the gutter to gather her visa documents that were not asked during the interview. A VO that has no time to listen to more than three reasons why you chose a school suddenly had time to pause her interviews to listen to the ordeal of a visa applicant and how she fell into a gutter and prayed and fasted before arriving for the interview.

That transcript (and this one) are some of the many padded transcripts here on NL. Take it or leave it.

You are correct a corporate America citizen in an official environment will never use such words on you.

People are bee sue for that, I undergo a training for something like this before I started working as a graduate teaching assistant in my school.

Be bold dress well with good internet connection, you and the professor will be having a conversation, in fact he will do most of it by explaining what they do in the department. He/she only want to know if you have done experience about what they do and what you wrote in your cv.

I will advice you to check the research going on by the department in which the professor is involved and also be prepared about experience on your cv.

I wish you luck.

Visa Interview @Abuja Embassy today, May 21.

My appointment was for 7:30am and I got there few minutes before this time. First was the warm welcome received from the "staple-your-documents guys" who almost did not allow the cab I boarded to park before opening the car door. "Bros, there's a special order of arrangement required for your documents, else they will send you back" others too were saying different things...I just said OK while I walked away. On getting in, I was amazed at the number of people already there...Pastors with collars, Revd Fathers in their robes, VIO in uniform, grandpas and grandmas, people wearing all manners of job ID cards. I joined the queue, had some documents checked, proceeded for biometrics and all the other kind of checks. All these took time, but was very orderly.

Finally, we got in and joined the interview queue. While waiting, I was watching what was going on in windows 6, 7, 8 and 9 where interviews were conducted. While the VOs in the other windows took their time to hear what people had to say, before either granting or denying them, the lady in window 6 hardly spent 2minutes before issuing blue paper to people...she was just dishing it out in less than 2 minutes. I prayed not to be interviewed by her. As usual, in less than two minutes, she handed the woman in my front a blue paper and called for the next which happened to be me (perhaps, I prayed amiss). In my mind, I just said, "Holy Spirit, take control".

Me: Good morning ma

VO: Good morning (while she stretched her hand for my passport and I-20). She stared at my I-20 for about 5 seconds

VO: Why are you going to the US?

Me: I'm going for my Doctorate degree in Chemistry at Florida International University.

VO: How did you know about the school?

Me: I made a search online about my research interest and the research of Dr. X of Florida International University appealed to me the most...(I still had more to say but she interrupted with the next question)

To God alone be all the glory!

Congratulations bro, i am so happy to read this. Welcome to America

TALE OF AN APPROVED VISA
Written by Miss Sharwama grin grin grin
I remember my heart pounding as I had my bath at 4:30 a.m. yesterday. I was so afraid, I couldn’t even sponge properly. I kept asking myself, “Sharwama after all the noise you have been making on NL, what if you get denied?” “What if you stutter and can’t make eye contact with the VO”… As I applied cream on my chocolate skin, I remember hearing a very gentle voice “Sharwama be still and know that I am God, I have gone ahead of you to make the crooked places straight”. This really gave me courage.
My uncle drove me to the embassy; my interview was at 6:30 a.m. and I got there right on time. I followed all the processes and protocol kini and then I came face-to-face with the visa officer. I paid no attention to the window number. I said a mental prayer “Father, the hour has come, glorify your daughter” and the Lord spoke to me “Sharwama, I have glorified you before and I will do it again”.

VO: Good morning and how are you?
Sharwama: Good morning. I am not sure how I feel; I have butterflies in my stomach.
VO: (Smiles) I understand how you feel, this won’t take much time. Pass me your I-20, passport and SEVIS receipt (I did)
VO: Why do you need this visa?
Sharwama: I want to pursue a masters in Biology Program at East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, Tennessee. I can’t do that if my visa isn’t approved.
VO: I see here that your sponsor is your mother but you also have a graduate assistantship, I am impressed!
Sharwama: I am glad you are.
VO: I will be approving your visa (hands me the white paper with circled location. Gave me back my I-20 and SEVIS receipt. Said the whole tyonteugdfvcvnm, jklpewszxcvbnmi but I didn’t hear anything. When she was done talking, I was still staring at her. The next person was already behind me)
VO: You can leave now
Sharwama: Is that all? You didn’t ask why I chose ETSU, the schools I applied to, what I have been doing since, you didn’t ask my study plan or even what this degree would do for me or my plans after completion?
(She was about interrupting but I burst into tears)
Sharwarma: Do you know how much the bank charged my sponsor in order to print statements of her multiple accounts? Or the stress it took to colour-print my GRE and TOEFL scores? I nearly had an accident you know. So what would I do with these papers now? Maybe you don’t know this, but I spent the last three months of my life, waking up in the middle of the night to rehearse for this interview and all you did was ask THREE questions? Would you please interview me again?
Her mouth was wide open, her eyes were all out of the socket, and she was in utter shock! Next, a security officer approached me. I knew he would show me out. As he led me, I tightly held on to the white paper and my documents. For some reason, I turned to the VO and saw her smiling at me. I wiped my tears and smiled back. Right there in that moment, I knew she would go to bed with memories of a crazy girl who had her F1 visa approved effortlessly and just couldn’t believe it.
Yes, I remember tasting something in my mouth, kinda tasted like Ribena and I kept licking my mouth till I opened my eyes and saw Martins, my little nephew with Ribena in his hands. It was 7:30 a.m.; I jumped out of bed, knowing I would be late for work. I hurriedly had my bath, brushed my teeth, there was no time for the normal early morning pooing. I ran out of the house, stopped Keke and entered. As he drove me, I couldn’t help but smile. Although, I knew my boss would query me for coming late, I was grateful because my beautiful dream was worth it…
Written by the girl who keeps seeing V.O’s in her sleep.
Inspired by samdgreat2011’s approved visa grin grin grin

This your dream should better worth it because I will like to visit and meet Nigerians going to ETSU. It is not that far from APSU

Woke up intermittently between 1am and 3:45am when I finally rose to dress. Got to the consulate around 6:30 something. After so much checking/biometrics, I finally found myself in front of the young man in window 2. Friendly but thorough (he spent close to 30 mins with a family in front me, and gave a yellow paper)

Below is my transcript. Note that I couldn't use word for word what transpired.

vo: what are you going to do in the US

me: I'm going for a PhD degree program in Physics at Florida State University. I would be specializing on condensed matter physics.

vo: why this school.

me: I chose it because of the research facilities and the researches being conducted there. The National High Magnetic field lab, which is the highest powered lab in the world is located there. Researches on magnetic fields and the likes are carried out there which is what I'll also do.Dr xyz research on fabrication of nanomaterials which are used for solar energy harvesting attracted me too. And considering Nigeria for example, our hydropower has failed us, and people are going solar, so there's a need for more researches there because of the growing demand (he listened to all the story, typing on the system, looking at me, and nodding)

Good evening house. I am considering applying for my student visa, I am married with 2 kids but I will be applying alone. Can someone who is currently studying in any of the USA universities advise on the possibility of postgraduate work permit, family re-union during or after graduation and settlement plan in the state at the end of graduate program.
This is needed to aid my application decision. Unto God.

After graduation you have 3 months to search for job, immediately you get a job offer, you will go to your school to give you OPT. The next face bow decide on your company if they file H1B for international students, but if they don't as a stem student you have 3yrs to work.

Please NL, i need a clarification from anyone that has applied or currently enrolled at University of New Haven. I applied to University of New Haven in December, 2018 to study MS Finance for the 2019 fall entry without a request to pay for application fee, I do not know if this is the norm? , I also got a waiver for GMAT, IELTS and 40% scholarship on my tuition fee. In addition, I received my my I20 last week through UPS without paying a dime. I have read here where people are paying to receive their I20, just a bit confused about this.

The school also sent me a form online to fill my interview date once it has been scheduled. I am just worried if these are the unique traditions of the school

That is how University of New Haven do for all applicants, they need student.

One thing we don't know Is that this thing is win win (both party win). American schools need us more that we need them.

My Interview on Monday for F1 visa in Lagos - Master program

Me. Good Morning

VO: Good Morning, pass me you I-20 and passport

VO: Why do you want to study Master in IT?

ME. Because IT rules the world and in line with my Bachelor Degree in Germany

VO. Why did you choose the University?

Me. The university is the leader in SAP graduate studies and prides itself as the North American leader in SAP certification. Graduates from this University are more SAP certified than the 3 highest Universities in US combined together.

Vo. I can see you have a valid b1/b2 visiting visa to the US, issued in January 2018 and you did not travel. Why?

Me. Then I was writing my bachelor thesis in Germany and wanted to visit for a conference in Texas as part of my research for the thesis but my thesis supervisor fixed a date that clashed with the date of the conference so there was no need to travel to US again.

Vo. I can see you are married

Me. Yes with 2 kids

Vo. Are you traveling with your family?

Me. No, am traveling alone

Vo. Who is sponsoring you

Me. Am sponsoring myself, I have a registered business doing well which is into logistics and road transportation and ticketing which I have employees working for me and also I am a share holder in a company in Nigeria which is into oil and gas where I receive income (profit shared) yearly as share holder of that company.

VO. Can I see your bank statement?

Me. Yes that’s my bank statement

Vo. Took time to check pages of the bank statement and I pointed out to him to check page 35 and see I receive money too as share holder of a company.

VO: what is your plan after studies?

ME. I plan to return back home to take up a job in SAP which I will be concentrating on in my studies. SAP skilled worker are lacking seriously in Nigeria as this is a new trending and disruptive IT technology in vogue and in high demand by almost all companies and getting those certified in this specialization are highly sought after here in my country.

VO: Your visa has been approved. He passed me the white paper indicating where to pick up my visa in 3 working days.

It was God
I was not asked too many questions or questions like why US, how many Universities did you apply to, did you write any standardized test e.t.c because I actually wrote IELTS and applied to 3 schools but I wasn't asked.

Congratulations, Go and excel
