OEPHIUS: We came here for a Presidential debate, not a candidacy debate, and I, Atiku Abubakar can not challenge or question an administration where the man at the helm of the affairs of the nation is not present to defend himself or his policies. After all you cannot shave a man's head in his absence. I do not believe in attacking a man who is NOT here to defend himself. As a leader and former vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, let me first apologise to all Nigerians, my fellow candidates and the moderator for the the APC Presidential Candidates absence in this debate. His non-appearance is a slight on ALL of us and our democracy.
Secondly, with all due respect to my fellow candidates, Fela Durotoye, Oby Ezekwesili, Kingsley Moghalu and to the moderator Mark Sugar and with apologies to all Nigerians here and at home expecting an interesting debate, I regret that I will not be able to go on with this debate due to President Buhari's absence.
I however challenge President Buhari to choose a date and time for a debate where he will be present and I will be there, hopefully with the other candidates as well.
Thank you and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Oh pls, I watched the full video, (2mins+) there was no questions asked, he was not even answering questions about enriching anyone when he included that statement, it's what's in his mind that he said, do you know what it means for a public office holder to come out and say he will enrich his friends? Is it Atiku's money?
Am shocked the length you guys are willing to go just to get ride of PMB, you guys forget what happens when you think you can fvck with the devil.
Hahahaha, why you lying? I was there and he ended that statement with "as long as there is no corruption involved ". He was talking about building a good business atmosphere. Drop the full video
OEPHIUS: Atiku’s Pro-Business Plan Receives Applause in the Business Community
The Presidential and Vice Presidential candidate of the PDP; Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Mr. Peter Obi, were at a meeting with the Business community Wednesday, in Eko Hotels and Suites. The meeting had the theme, Getting Nigeria’s Economy Working: A Pragmatic Approach. The business-savvy candidate from the time of launching his campaign has been bent on job creation. He stated earlier that he has created about 45,000 jobs as a private citizen. For many Nigerians, this is enough antecedent to hand over the reins of power to him, considering that every problem Nigeria faces now, can be traced to lack of jobs.
However, Opeyemi Agbaje; the moderator, wanted to know how involved he was in the creation of such plans. The reason is that governments have denied their policies and manifestos in the past. To this, Atiku replied, “This is not the first policy document I’m creating. I want to assure you I was personally involved and participated in crafting the ideas. I worked with the best experts as well.” With this answer, the attendees and indeed other members of the public understood that the aspirant has owned his plans for Nigeria’s economy.
Atiku continued on his experience with policies and documents, “in 2007, when I wanted to run, I worked with experts to produce the Niger Delta Master Plan. When I lost the elections, I handed it over to Yaradua. This document led to the reforms and creation of the Niger Delta Ministry.” On the success and growth of the economy when he was in government, Atiku stated that the secret was that the government always met with the business community and always knew their needs as a result. This led to a 7% economic growth, as opposed to the current 1.8% economic growth rate.
On the gap in infrastructure in the country, Mr. Obi stated, “Fixing Nigeria’s infrastructure must be private sector-led. That is what is obtainable elsewhere. Government does not have the capability to deliver the infrastructure we need now.” Mr. Obi also stated that the idea of allowing government handle infrastructure is behind the debt burden of the economy which in turn reduces money that could have been spent on education and health.
On jobs, which is definitely the biting issue in the country, considering that 2018 saw the nation losing cumulatively 20.9m jobs, Mr. Obi stated that China used MSMEs to drive employment. He stated that small and medium scale enterprises, contribute 60% of China’s economy and Nigeria should learn from them. He had earlier stated that he compares China to Nigeria because they were once as broke as Nigeria, with even more population.
Furthermore, popular actress, Onyeka Onwenu asked about Atiku’s plans for women. Upon that, Atiku stated that he plans on giving 30% of appointment to women and 40% to youths, since they collectively contribute 70% to the population of the country. This is not far from what he has done as a private citizen, given that out of his 45,000 employees, 70% are people 25 to 30 years of age, with half of this population being women. Also, he directed that 80% of loans in a micro-finance bank he runs, be directed to women. He stated that this has led to 92% repayment by the women.
Peter Obi was clear on treating education as an investment, instead of expenditure. He stated that companies who are knowledge-based, make more money than Nigeria. Additionally, Atiku stated that they passed the Universal Basic Education law when he was VP. This law made it compulsory that kids get basic education. As such, he plans on making education a priority, since it is what Nigeria needs. In all of this, the government of Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi plan to be watch dogs. Reducing the size and cost of governance is the first way to make progress in governance.
kehinde1588: We all know that Saraki is behind the violence in kwara.
He is feeling the heat already and he knows kwarans are tired of him so he wants to do anything in other to get kwarans sympathy votes but unfortunately its too late cos "otoge".
Come to think of it, Saraki has been acting like kwara state governor and PDP governorship candidate in kwara.
That Saraki foot mat called Atunwa hardly makes headline.
As for me, I am leaving Kaduna for kwara soon cos saraki must go.
Are you smart? Do you think? Why would someone deface his own posters and attack his hometown? Leave sentimental bs at home and lets talk real fact without emotional bias. These APC people are getting desperate.......... resorting to violence
Olaopefola: I had never looked up the meaning of the word integrity until I watched this video. This lady definitely gives a new perspective to this word that’s been bandied around by a lot of Nigerians. What does integrity mean to you?

In what observers have described as a possibility of alliance, the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal today sought and had discussions with one of the leading aspirants for the People's Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Dr. Bukola Saraki,
The residential primaries holding in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, has no less than 12 candidates jostling for the party's presidential ticket.
Meanwhile, there have been indicators to the effect that Dr. Bukola Saraki who is the incumbent President of Nigerian 8th Senate may emerge from the convention as the Party's presidential flag bearer.
The party's convention is holding peaceably amidst tight security at the time of report.
UPDATES:
South-East Delegates split between Saraki and Atiku. North-East Delegates split between Saraki and Atiku. All North Central delegate caucuses are supporting Saraki.
SternProphet: N50k. That is the price they paid for this cheap write-up on the most unqualified and un-serious candidate of the PDP.
The dude inherited wealth and dynasty and he has been pissing it away since. SGBN, Kwara State, Senate of high salaries, budget padding, fake constituency projects. He could not even deliver Osun State and tgey are going to take Kwara from him in a few months.
For mentally mal nourished youths from landlocked regions, maybe this overgrown silver spoon provides dramatic thrills but for anybody with brains, this fake is just a representative of old Nigerian political class and culture that this country is flushing down the toilet in the next few years.
OkaNaUbe: I pray that someone like Donald Duke or any opposition party will win, come next elections. Then shall we see and hear about the full blown corruption under the watch of a 'saint' that was a Petroleum Ministry in the 80's, (that a whopping $20b developed wings and disappeared).
Same here man. Cos there has a rubbish cycle of retired generals running this country to fuel their greedy ambitions
positivethought: most times when I hear people talk of buhari having integrity, been honest n fighting corruption,I just laugh,Nigerians will be shocked if buhari is voted out n his government is probed.
aminulive: Tinubu's Company Fingered In N100 Billion Fraud (court Documents)
A consultancy firm, Alpha Beta, owned by APC chieftain and former governor of Lagos, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently embroiled in a N100 billion Tax Evasion, Money Laundering, and Fraud case, according to a petition filed by one Dapo Apara, its Managing director/CEO.
According to Apara’s petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Alpha Beta “has become an avenue for official corruption of government officials, a conduit pipe for massive money laundering scheme, tax evasion, among other vices”.
PoliticsNGR learned that in the petition, sent on his behalf by Adetunji Adegboyega ESG, his solicitors, Apara said: “Over the years the company is being protected and shielded by some powerful politicians and people in the society which made them to always boast of being untouchable, but our client, feeling the need not to keep quiet again and strengthened by his belief in the fact that the government of President Muhammadu Buhari is keen on fighting corruption, which has been the bane of our country, is of the firm belief that it’s time to expose and open the can of worms called ALPHABETA CONSULTING.
“Our client is of the firm belief that it is time for the commission to step in and conduct a holistic investigation into the activities of ALPHABETA CONSULTING LIMITED AND ALPHABETA LLP, with a view to uncovering the massive corruption, money laundering, tax evasion etc going on in the company. Kindly note that one of the companies being used to perpetrate money laundering by the company is still another company named Ocean Trust Limited.
“The only hope of our client and indeed the teeming Nigerians who are victims of the crimes being perpetrated by these companies, in seeking justice is the commission, which we strongly believe in and therefore call on the commission to cause a holistic investigation into this case and all involved with the aim of bringing these criminals to justice, and not allow their claims of being untouchable to be validated.
“Kindly note sir that as our client is willing and able to provide information to substantiate the claims, though, we will plead for these to be done through us as he is presently fearing for his life having been receiving death threats from a lot of quarters because of this case.”
Alpha Beta first became known when it was appointed as a consultant to the Lagos State Government, arguably its first client, under the tenure of Babatunde Fowler as the Chief Executive Officer/Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Board of Internal Revenue from 2005 to 2014.
The company got the appointment when Bola Ahmed Tinubu was Governor of Lagos State. The speculation, which has yet to be dissipated since then, is that Tinubu completely owns or is a major shareholder in the company.
In the same vein, the state has also never denied claims that the company takes about 10 percent of internally generated revenue of Lagos, estimated in 2016 to be about N40 billion every month.
