Please guys I need help to my question, am about to pay for an Associate member of a professional body to get 50points. Thanks
You can't just pay for membership fees and get additional 50 points. You'll need to write professional exams depending on your profession and if it's a regulated profession in Canada and pass them before you can claim the 50 points.

Happy independence great peeps. I re-wrote ielts and expecting a better result next week. However, I am already in the pool. My question is, if my ielts score is higher this time compared to what I have alredy in my e.e profile, am I suppose to upgrade, add, alter my existing profile or delete the profile completely and enter using a new profile. Thanks.
Just edit the previous scores and input the new ones as dupyshoo has explained.

Bit confused here (pls clarify). I'm currently on 435, my spouse can potentially add up to 20 points. I just took a conservative score of 12 under language (since ielts is outstanding) and 8 points for education (Although WES summary is two or more certificates). Abi no be so?
This was what you wrote before:

'Current crs is 435 excluding spouse ielts which from my calcn will take me to 451 (that's on a score of LWRS 7666) and potentially up to 455'.

As you can see you didn't mention IELTS and WES, you only mentioned that the IELTS will boost your score.

I think you and Zandora are saying the same thing. What he meant is that the maximum your spouse can add to your score is a total of 40 points: 20 for Language, 10 for Education and 10 for Canadian Experience, which I believe is correct.
Exactly, thanks for the clarification.

Same scenario for me. Current crs is 435 excluding spouse ielts which from my calcn will take me to 451 (that's on a score of LWRS 7666) and potentially up to 455. Right now I'm torn between applying for the OONP but for cad$ 1500 fee. Just wondering if it's worth it considering that my wife can score up to 465 if she takes the ielts huh
How did you arrive at your calculation though? If she scores L7,6,6,6 that's clb levels 7&8 which will net you 12 points bringing your total to 447 which isn't that good. The English scores awarded for principal applicant and Spouse are different. She should aim for the maximum at most or L7.5,7,7,7 to give 453 which is good. See the link below for spouse language calculation:

I will but I don't want to bank on maximum pts from hubby's ielts (being conservative here). Plus age factor means -5 from my score in Jan.
I didn't calculate it using the maximum ielts. You've got 439 now, subtract 5 from age which gives 434, that means your husband should contribute at least 16 points or let's say 17 points to bring your total score to 451 which is a very good score. In fact if he can score L8 then the rest 7,7,7,6.5 or L7.5, then the rest 7,7,7,7 that would give 18 points and 452. It's up to you to risk it and don't forget the application fee for ONP is a non-refundable $1,500. What I suggest is that your hubby should quickly write the ielts before you accept the invitation if possible.

I got the letter from Ontario province to apply for ONIP. The only issue is with POF as I don't think I can pull off the bank balance I need to show at this time ($22k). If I do not submit that application now, is there any chance I can get invited again at some point? Maybe in a few months? Also my score is 439 which does not include hubby's ielts yet as he going to write the exam in Oct. Given that the last cut off mark is 450, I'm thinking maybe I should ignore Ontario's invitation and hope that the cutoff comes down further. Any advise please?
Would you have the funds in a few months? If so then you can reject the ONP if your hubby is going to take the IELTS, as the maximum points he can get via the IELTS is 20 and that would bring your total score to above 450 which is a very good score for selection.

Proof of funds
Purpose

To confirm whether the applicant meets the low income cutoff (LICO), as assessed by the amount of money they hold compared to the number of people in their family
Document requirements

The applicant should provide official letter(s) from financial institution(s) that list all current bank and investment accounts as well as outstanding debts such as credit card debts and loans.
The letter(s) must be printed on the letterhead of the financial institution and must include the applicant’s name, the contact information of the financial institution (address, telephone number and email address), the account numbers, the date each account was opened and the current balance of each account as well as the average balance in the past six months.
Other documents may also be requested, as necessary.

Individuals who must submit this documentation

The principal applicant

The above is CIC's requirement and specification for POF

Current balance(which will be the month you request for the letter) of each account is requested and average balance for 6months(addition of each month's balance for the past 6months divided by 6), what I'm however not sure about is if the average has to be all the accounts added together or average balance for each account for those operating more than one account in the same bank which however can be stated separately for clarity.

However, it appears CIC may have set a little trap here. If the difference between average and current balance seem too much, who knows if they will want to make a case out of it but then, they can't expect one not to spend na!

Dupyshoo!!! You may want to look into these before specifying what the bank should write in your new letter.
Yes you are very right. My case was that my bank refused to write the letter in CIC's format so what I just did was asked the bank to give me a screen shot of all my accounts and their start dates which they did and stamped. Then I collected 6 months bank statement for each of my accounts (I have 5 bank accounts) which they stamped and submitted. I believe the 6 months bank statement is for each bank.

please everyone, if I have a bachelor's degree and a diploma ceetificate accessed by different bodies. Does this qualify me to have one or more certificates? no the two certificates are in no way related. And the diploma certificate was just issued this year after getting the Batchelor degree.

Also, can claim years of experience achieved after achieving the Batchelor degree, but during the study for the diploma degree, since it was a part time study.

Please your response will be highly appreciated.
- Yes you can use assessments from different bodies as long as they are the bodies approved by CIC ie WES, ICAS etc

- Yes you can claim work experience while studying for your diploma but the work experience would be part time if you were schooling full time.

I think the bank complicated things by giving that breakdown instead of just stating the current balance and simply giving the dates you started operating the accounts with them. I do not see why they cant simply draft the letter as stated by CIC.

I will say you inform the bank that they did not write the letter the way it should be written, which is to simply state the current balance and the dates you started operating the accounts with them. In addition, they should state you have no debt repayment, this would leave out the huge gaps in the monthly balances. If they will however not yield, you can get in addition to the letter the transaction history statement and with a letter explaining stuffs like you did, and then hope for the best.
But the requirement is to show 6 months average balance in addition to the date each account was opened not the current balance of the account.

Wait another 24 hrs and if you still haven't received it cancel your profile and create another one. Sometimes it happens when people don't receive the job bank registration email, a flaw in the system.

Hi Zandora,

Bachelor of Laws seems to be part of jobs classified as professional degree by CIC. Does this not mean one can choose the category "Master degree or professional degree needed to practice in a licensed profession" if you get an ECA assessed as "Bachelor of Laws"?
No, it won't fall under Master's degree because it isn't equivalent to a Canadian Master's degree and it won't fall under professional degree because you can't use that Nigerian law degree to practice law in Canada. Remember, it is the assessment that is supposed to give you either Master's degree or professional degree needed to........ If however the degree was obtained in Canada and the person has done the call to bar then it would fall under professional degree needed to practice in a licence profession because you can practice law with that certification in Canada. I don't know if you get me.

'Master degree or professional degree needed to practise in a licensed profession ( for professional degree, the degree must have been in medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, law etc.,'

That's from cic page.

DEAR GREAT NAIRALANDERS,

I have a bachelor of laws degree. I also have a certificate from nig law school. My question is this:do I NEED to assess both law degree and law school transcript to fall into above category.

If the answer is yes, please which body handles transcript from law school. I am using WES for law degree assessment.

If the answer is no, is it wise to still assess both since I have them anyway.

LASTLY KINDLY NOTE I HAVE NOT BEEN PRACTICING LAW HERE AND DONT INTEND TO USE LAWYER NOC IN EE PROFILE CREATION.

Appreciate your kind replies in advance. Thank you all.

Bosypumpin how far? How is this journey going at your end? Regards
This is what the CIC website states in relation to assessing law degrees:

For Express Entry, we only accept professional degrees in these fields:

medicine,
veterinary medicine,
dentistry,
podiatry,
optometry,
law,
chiropractic medicine, or
pharmacy.

ECA assessment results for Law:

Bachelor of Laws
Juris Doctor
First professional university degree in law
First professional university degree in law, preceded by [x years] prerequisite undergraduate study

Now in order to fall into the category 'Master degree or professional degree needed to practice in a licensed profession' you have to have either a Master's degree or the professional degree. Firstly, you don't have a Master's degree. Secondly, Canada requires any foreigner working in a regulated field to take their exams before they can practice their profession in Canada, therefore you can't use your law school certificate to practice in Canada as you'll have to write a Canadian Bar exam. A Juris Doctor degree is earned by completing law school in order to practice law either in the United States, Canada, Australia, and other common law countries of which Nigeria is a part of but like I said, you can't practice law in Canada, only in Nigeria. As a result, your degree and certificate will most likely be evaluated as a Bachelor of Laws.

Dear all,

i believe WES sends soft copy of assessment by email in addition to hard copy? i am applying and i see they send a pdf copy of the result online.

then it should be cheaper to use canada post instead of courier to receive the paper report. has anyone used this means? i know it may take longer to arrive.

Do i need to have the hard copy at point of creating my EE profile?

the WES profile advices courier though..

TRying the cut costs.

The copy you see online is different from that you receive via post because the one online is the abbreviated report. Therefore you can only use the copy posted to you to apply (you need to scan the original). When you receive the report, there would be a cover page and the assessment page, scan both to be on the safe side.

Thanks so much. What is my overall CLB?
Overall CLB isn't important, it's the individual CLB points that matters.

Ekicedar:
Pls which clb level is this result.

Listening: 6.0
Reading: 7.5
Writing: 6.0
Speaking: 7.0
Overall: 6.5
Listening 6 - CLB level 7
Reading 7 - CLB level 9
Writing 6 - CLB level 7
Speaking 6.5 - CLB level 8

From the results above, your language score has qualified you for FSW but your CRS score in language is only 88 if single or 83 if married out of the maximum 136. As you've lost significant points in language (a CLB level 9 all through would have also awarded you up to an additional 50 points under skill transferability and foreign work experience), if you don't have a PNP or LMIA you will need to retake the test to improve your CRS score.

Please see the link below for the conversion of IELTS to CLB.

Pls house has anyone with CLB 6 eligible in d express entry pool?
With a CLB level 6 you do not qualify for the FSW stream via the Express Entry this is because in order to qualify you need a minimum of CLB level 7 which is equivalent to IELTS band 6 in each category. However you should aim to score higher in your IELTS ie 7,7,7 and 8 in listening if order to maximise your chances in the pool as a 6 band across will only give you the minimum score. The difference between scoring R6,W6,S6,L6 and R7,W7,S7L,8 or the highest score R8,W7.5,S7.5,L8.5 would be up to 118 points.

Hi guys,

I must commend all your effort.

Please how much proof of funds do I need to show and how long does the funds have to be in my account for a single applicant.

Thanks
Please see below.

1 $11,931
2 $14,853
3 $18,260
4 $22,170
5 $25,145
6 $28,359
7 or more $31,574

Therefore for a single applicant you need $11,931 Canadian which is equivalent to N1,779,260 as at today's exchange rate. You need to show 6 months bank statement but the money doesn't need to be in your account for the full 6 months. However any large inflow into your account within the 6 months needs to be explained and backed up by the proper documentation, therefore it's advisable for the funds to be in your account for the full 6 months to avoid complications.

R: 7
W: 6.5

PN: I think its better not telling them the purpose is for immigration again, since they target the all band 7 requirement. I'm asking for a writing remark in atleast one of these results thou. thank you
If your score is the first above then don't bother asking for a writing remark because it won't make much difference to your CRS score since you scored 7.5 in your listening, besides like what Etfash said, the overturn percentage is very low. Furthermore I don't think it's advisable to select personal when re-writing your IELTS, this is because as this is express entry where everything is now done electronically, CIC now checks directly with ielts online to confirm your results. Therefore if you didn't choose Canada as the purpose of writing your exam I'm not sure IELTS will give CIC access to this info. Just my 2 cents.

Anyways, do i need to get my bank statement stamped before uploading it for anyone who has done it? i have spent a cummilative of 5 hours on that page today and still havent finished. I was battling with the settlement plan thing when i flipped and closed my laptop. I will just go and write IELTS again than this stress since i have a masters degree. I didnt do so well in the listening part and i figured that is the most important part of that test as it relates to Canada immigration. Zandora, i have directed my friend to the CSE and he has filled the forms. I hope he find a solution to his problem. You guys are doing a nice job.
Thanks! You should redo the IELTS, trust me the listening is not that bad. I practiced for the listening via googling IELTS practice websites. I made sure I selected the websites that had the audio for the listening and it really helped. Practiced for 2 days and scored an 8 so believe me, you can also ace it. Goodluck!

P.S - You need to get your bank statements stamped before uploading it.

Thank you for your response. My current situation is that I live in the Uk and will not be in the bank in person. I require the statement to be signed and stamped. I was wondering if I could ask my accounts officer to authorize my sister (a former staff of diamond bank) to collect the statement in a branch close to her on my behalf
If your accounts officer is familiar with you then he could do that but this is a grey area because technically you should collect your statements in person. If cic sees the stamped and signed date, compares this with your personal history and sees you weren't in Nigeria at the time the statement was collected they might be suspicious. Can't you tell your bank to post your statement to your UK address? Do they have your UK address on file even if as a correspondence address? If not then you can risk going for option 1 ie asking your sister to collect on your behalf.

Please does anyone know how I can get my diamond bank statement of account signed and stamped. I am currently living overseas and it will not be possible to travel to Nigeria anytime soon
You need to be present for it to be signed and stamped in most cases. However if that route is impossible for you to take you could go for the second option which is to call your bank and ask them to post your statement to your address. This type doesn't need to be stamped as they can tell it is genuine was and sent to your address since the format would be slightly different.
