Good to see you hurstling already. May God bless your hurstle.

Fast one, which courier service did you use to mail your international passport to the Canadian consulate for your COPR and did you enclose a return envelop in the original parcel. I discussed with someone in one of the top 2 courier services in Nigeria, the dude stated that his company does not permit the enclosure of a return envelop in the outgoing/to parcel.
I used VFS Global and no they don't require self addressed envelopes, you pay for the courier charge and they'll return it to you after your visa has been stamped.

Hi guys,

Please I need advice on how best to get arranged employment in Canada.

I have over 4 years experience in my field but each time I make application to a Canadian company via LinkedIn they keep rejecting my application.

Thanks,
The chances of you being hired are almost impossible. Even me that's in Canada I'm getting almost frustrated. So far I've had 3 interviews, each involving various stages. For the first interview (with an insurance company) I got to the final interview stage with the hiring manager, she looked at the name of the bank on my resume and asked if the bank was in Canada, I said no and she was like 'oh I thought your work experience was in Canada' and in my mind I was like is this woman for real, didn't the person who interviewed me before I got to you communicate with you? Anyway, I knew then that I wasn't going to get it then, besides they were only looking for one person out of about 50 ppl that got to the final stage so my chances were pretty much slim in the first place.

For the second interview the company wanted 12 people so I was relieved. When I got to the reception I was asked for my name to confirm my interview slot, then after I told the guy he brought out this A4 foolscap sheet filled with names, my mouth almost opened because I saw about 20+ names for that day. After the interview the lady told be that they were going to interview all week and they started interviewing the previous week so I quickly mentally did the maths and estimated that with the names I saw they should interview almost 200 ppl. Then I knew I wasn't going to get it, what even pained me more was that I suffered to read and pass that their ridiculous online tests.

The third interview was with a US based bank with few corporate offices in Canada. Their HR emailed me first and said she was going to telephone me (from the U.S) for a 30 mins interview. This time I made sure I wasn't going to leave any stone unturned because the role was juicy and the salary was really good. I jacked all the behavioural situational questions I could find, I read about the company, the role every freaking thing you can imagine so I was confident. On the day of the interview the lady called as expected, gave me a brief overview of the company and role and then she said and I quote "now to my first question, what is risk?" In my mind I'm like ehn? what is risk? Is this a joke, like are you kidding me? I wasn't expecting that line of question at all especially since the role didn't have anything to do with risk whatsoever. I felt like crying, I just mumbled whatever could pass for what I thought financial risk might be. At the end she said I'll hear the decision in a few days and that only the top 2 - 3 candidates would move on to the next stage. I asked how many stages they were and she said up to 4 stages. Now I'm still waiting for a decision but I'm not putting my hopes on it.

I have 2 more interviews coming up within this week with 2 major banks. I'm getting frustrated here but I'm not going to give up because I believe that with God and patience by my side I'll land a job soon. Sorry if I was ranting, just wanted to share my experience and relieve a bit of burden from my heart cry.

P:S - When you get here and you're creating your CV, do not include your country. This is because most companies have a preference for Canadian experience over any other country experience. When you get shortlisted and they ask where your experience was from, only then do you tell them.

No. To be a citizen, you must have stayed in Canada for 4 years, with 3 years within the 4 years as a permanent resident.
I beg to differ. This is what CIC states in relation to citizenship, to qualify "You must have been physically present in Canada as a permanent resident for at least 1,460 days during the six years immediately before the date of your application. You must also be physically present for at least 183 days during each of four calendar years that are fully or partially within the six years immediately before the date of application".

Translation - You must have lived in Canada as a PR for at least 4 years out of 6 and in that 4 years must have been in Canada for at least 6 months each year.

thank you Zandora.
please my next question is ,does he have to state the tellering job under his application where hes asked to give the full history of work experiences for the past 10 years or just ignore.
he had previously applied for a study permit, but was refused and he stated his telling job under work history in the form.
No. He should state the teller job under personal history and not work history since he's not going to gain any points from it. He should also be careful and ensure that what he put down when he filed for his student app matches what he fills now.

hello guys, please here is a tough question.
my brother studied computer science/engineering'. Has IT certifications
during NYSC he worked with a one man business IT firm and was doing web designs for them.
post nysc he got a banking job and accepted the bank job.(the pay was good)
however the IT firm still contacts him for the web designs and pays him. this he does at his free time as a part time thing for extra income.

now his full time banking job does not qualify for EE application, 'can he use his part time web design job to apply?
bearing in mind he was doing both jobs concurrently. is it acceptable?
web design noc code 2175 skill type B
bank teller noc code 6155 skill type c

please i need contributions.
he makes monthly income on both jobs.
Forget about the teller job, since it falls under noc C it doesn't qualify him. As for the IT job he has to have a minimum of 1 year full time or the equivalent in part time hours i.e 2 years part time. Since his nysc was in the IT job and I take it that he completed a full year there, so yes he qualifies. He can add his part time work there too so 1 yr full time plus 2 years part time will give you 2 years full time that he can claim points for, that is of course if his full time hours summed up to a minimum of 30 hrs per week and the part time a minimum of 15 hrs per week.

@ zandora, JesusDway and all others! When your birthday comes and age increases while in the pool, does it automatically reduces your score?
Yes it does. On the day of your birthday you'll receive an email notification that your mycic account has been updated, once you log on 5 points would've already been deducted. However if you receive and submit your complete application just before your birthday and you have your birthday before a decision has been made on your app, no points would be deducted for age.

Happy New Year to you all, I am an ardent follower of this thread. I am planning to put in for this programme but wish to seek your advise on the chances I have before putting in for IETLS. I will be 41 this month. I have HND in Marketing, I have couple of certification in IT, I have PGD in computer Science, 9 years working experience in ICT at managerial level.

Do I stand a good chance to put in for this programme. Thank you and God bless.
You'll score low due to your age and qualification, the best option would be via PNP.

Dear all, with respect to this express entry application, can someone say that his/her grandmothers` uncles` son is a relative?
No you can't. Relatives are classified as either of your parents, your uncle or aunt (sister or brother of either of your parents), either grandparents, child, niece or nephew, brother or sister and grandchild. Therefore your grandmother's uncle's son wouldn't fetch you any points.

Dear Seniors,

Happy New Year!

My plan has been to use my wife as PA for EE due to her favourable age and she is into paid employment. She has taken IELTS twice but, didn't make all the bands, she is not feeling comfortable to retake it. We have both evaluated our certificates through WES.

I am self employed, into sales and marketing of petroleum products, I would be 44 years at my next birthday. I had taken IELTS before too but, didn't make all the bands. Now that my wife is reluctant to retake IELTS and it is the only requirement preventing us from entering the pool, what do you advise me to do?

Thanks.
Unfortunately your age will only fetch you 5 out of a maximum 100 points and it would be more difficult to prove your self employment status especially if you aren't operating under a registered business/company . You can try any of the PNP's but count Ontario out since you're definitely not going to score 400 or above. Your best option would be to plead with your wife to really read and retake the IELTS.

I'm considering also entering the pool as well as my husband. It does seem that I can get higher CRS scores cos of age.

Now, the issue I have is as regards fund. The stated funds for a family of 3 is in my husband's personal account which I've heard will not fly if I intend using it.

Can we open a joint account ASAP and move the fund there? So that either of us can use it to apply, depending on who gets ITA? Then again, heard the funds have to be there for a minimum of 6months prior to ITA. Or should we wait till I get ITA and he transfers the money into my personal account and say it's a gift?

Another issue is that my passport is still in my maiden name and I don't intend getting another one for now cos all my travel history are in it. Does this pose any problems?

Jesusdway, zandora, Etfash etc
The funds don't have to be there for a minimum of 6 months but you have to provide 6 months average balance. If I were you I'll go with option 2 i.e. tell your husband to transfer the funds to your account and then provide u with a gift letter etc. As for the other matter, you should change your passport to your married name especially if the name on your bank account and other documents is in your married name.

I have being following the good work you people are doing please keep it up. I want to ask if the CSCS from the Nigeria stock exchange clearing house can be used as pof or is it only the bank statement?
Stocks are highly volatile hence there's no way of knowing if the stocks would be equivalent to the required funds at the time your application is processed. My advice would be for you to liquidate your stocks and place the money in your bank account before applying.

Please I am registering for my ielts exam online but I am a bit lost. The address I fill on the form is that where my test result will be sent to?

do I say yes to this question and indicate CIC or do I leave it as a NO?:
If you would like your results sent to specific academic institutions, government agencies, professional bodies or employers, please indicate this below.

Results may be sent either electronically or by post to these institutions. The centre may charge a postal fee for results sent internationally or by courier. The Test Report Form will NOT be sent to migration or education agents. Please note that institutions and organisations you specify may access your results before you receive them by post. If you select 'Yes', you will be able to specify up to 5 institutions on the next screen.

Kindly assist. thank you.
Yes that's the address your result would be sent to. Don't use CIC, you should put down your own address.

I have a problem. I want submit my application for express entry, however The date of birth on my University Transcript is different from my real date of birth on my birth certificate and my international passport. I wasn't not aware of this till i was given a copy at the transcript office of the university. The disparity was caused by mistake on my admission documents which were filled by my guardian. All efforts to change this was refused by the School authorities even after showing my original birth documents.

Please i need to know the implications of this and advise on what to do.

zandora
Go ahead with your WES evaluation and if after assessing your credentials your ECA has the same dob as your transcript, send an email to WES to rectify this and include your birth certificate. I know someone who was in your shoes and WES updated the ECA for him. You do not need the transcript for the FSW application itself.

come 2016 IELTS is 52k, previous charge is 40k. as for Wes you don't need to send your Waec. just Sen CD your Bsc certificate photocopy, then go to your uni and have your bsc transcript sent to Wes. make sure you print the academic document request form. it's on WES website. you also need to apply to WES first and get your WES reference number. the number would be quoted on all your documents.
I also think there is a center in calabar. check British council website. Good luck

I have been examining this Express Entry thing a while now, and all my realization is that as a single guy I'm only qualified for a maximum of 600points after looking through all the requirements and the point system. How easy is it for a single person to qualify? And how in the world can one nick 450points out of that 600?
You can do it, people score above 450 all you need is Age & English on your side and God by your side wink

What CIC said is that it should not have been issued more than 6months prior to submitting e-APR. This does not necessarily imply that a 3months valid PC as stated by the issuing authority will authoritatively be taken by CIC to have a validity of 6months(even if they choose to use what you presented to them) cuz they also said at the discretion of the immigration officer, he/she may request you to send a new PC. You may read the below:

Police certificates
Purpose

To determine if the applicant or their family members has a criminal record or poses a security risk to Canada

Document requirements

For the applicant’s current country of residence, the PC must have been issued no more than six months before submission of the e-APR.
For countries in which the applicant no longer resides, the PC must have been issued later than the departure date of the last time the client resided in that country for more than six months.
The PCs are required upfront and mandatory for each country (except Canada) where an individual has lived for six or more months in a row. This instruction is for the purpose of the completeness check under section R10. However, it is always at an officer’s discretion to request a new or additional PC.
In some circumstances, CIC must ask for the PC on behalf of the applicant. In others (e.g., New Zealand), a client must complete a consent form to initiate a PC. Specific documents are required of the applicant for such requests and must be submitted as part of the complete application.
In exceptional circumstances, CIC may accept

proof of having requested a PC for such countries; or
a letter of explanation of best efforts (not a guarantee of acceptance).
Individuals who must submit this documentation

The principal applicant
Their spouse or common-law partner
Their dependent children 18 years of age or older, including non-accompanying
They definitely disregard the 3 months date. As you rightly stated the new rule effective April states:

'For the applicant’s current country of residence, the PC must have been issued no more than six months before submission of the e-APR'.

Therefore regardless of how many months is written on your PC they'll definitely accept it as long as it was issued in 6 months or less discretion or not, it's the rule. My PC was 5 months old and I had no issue.
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by zandora(op): 7:20am On Dec 20, 2015
JesusDWay:
It's valid only for 3months, I suggest you do it when you have all other docs and are ready to upload and apply
The Nigerian police certificate is valid for 6 months not 3. Although it's written 3 months on the PC, CIC ignores this date and uses 6 months validity date for your current country of residence.

Does working in Nigeria qualify for this following question under the crs tool

"How many years of skilled foreign work experience do you have? It must have been continuous, paid, full-time (or an equal amount in part-time), and in only one occupation."
Skilled foreign work experience means any skilled work experience obtained outside Canada so yes, working in Nigeria counts.

Hello all,
Please what is the importance of "Date account was opened" as part of CIC requirement in respect of POF. In my case, my POF account was opened mid-November with the required POF fund in it, and i hope to apply mid-April. Will this raise a red flag on where the fund was brought in from to open the account and why it was opened exactly 6 months ago.
Thank you
They want to know the date the account was opened to prevent people from obtaining loans for their application. Therefore if someone opens an account and submits their application soon after that would raise red flags with CIC.

If after going through all the process and one is eventually selected via EE, what is the timeframe given for one to relocate to canada; before they cancel the permanent residency.

Also, if the husband is the principal applicant; can the wife and kids relocate first and then the husband join later.

Thanks
- If you're given PR then you must arrive not later than 1 year after the date of your medical exams.
- If the husband is the principal applicant then he must arrive first, either alone or with his wife and children. The dependents cannot arrive before the principal applicant.

Dear Everyone,

I am in a dilemma, I am hoping someone can help me out.

I got my ITA on the 4th of December and I already got all my documents (police certificate, medicals, reference letter) then I realised that for my previous experience, I backdated the start date by 2 weeks (instead of using my resumption date of 2nd June, I used the acceptance date on the employment letter (18th May). I would not have qualified for the ITA if not for the error as my CRS would have been 25 points less.

My dilemma is should I decline the ITA and re-enter the pool? Will my medicals and police certificate still be valid if I do this or I will have to get another one? The reference letter given to me by my previous employer shows that I started work on the 18th May but my conscience would not let me rest. Kindly advise me, is it wise to decline the ITA?

Thank you.
You can use 18 May because technically that was the date you were assigned to work for the company. Your reference letter also reads 18 May so I don't understand what the problem is.
