TV/MoviesRe: Nollywood Slams N250,000 Clearance Fee On Foreign Actors by zebra543: 12:19am On Jul 29, 2010
CGKing:
I think there is a slight difference in what iv said and what u are reffering to. I believe u r comparing products with a phenomenom. Nollywood is not a product, and even though its may be number 3 in the world, its still growing. Bringing in foreign actors will cripple her growth and also not benefit our economy so it wont be wrong for any authourity to recommend levies or even banning foregin participants.

This was the same sttuation inthe ghana must go thing. Remember? This was y we kicked ghana out. But now, they arent even banning our actors, they are trying to encourage their own ppl, to give them a chance to try. Ghana knows they follow us in the movie industry but i believe what they are saying is, we want to grow also. And some funny nigerian quickly retaliated, do me i do u. Its sickening.

I think we are the ones to go and develop our own country and fizzle out of ghanna, arent we embarrased going to ghana becos of power. Its like a rich home going to their less priviledge next door neighour to borrow candle.
someone else with sense! i was begining to think im the last nigerian standing!

this sounds fishy to me, since when did people start advertising children on the internet? and even if it was genuine will you give your children away to people off the internet? please think deeply before you do things, if you want parents for your children visit the church, take them to the orphanages look out for popular foster parents, some schools even house homeless children!
TV/MoviesRe: Nollywood Slams N250,000 Clearance Fee On Foreign Actors by zebra543: 8:44pm On Jul 28, 2010
*yawns* it will be pointless going back and forth on this issue with you, if decisions like these is what you guys like Nigeria should continue to make them, one day immaturity might just work for the country, you never know!
TV/MoviesRe: Nollywood Slams N250,000 Clearance Fee On Foreign Actors by zebra543: 6:22pm On Jul 28, 2010
genevieve was living in ghana when she was banned she was actually living there thats a fact
Nollywood didnt make that choice for the sake of saving the industry they did it to get back at the ghanians, also says the person who posted the story; in conclusion if ghollywood never started thier fees nollywood wouldve never come up with it in the first place? exactly what i mean playground politics- because im Nigerian doesnt mean i have to rid my senses thank God I think clearly even in matters such as these. Probably why Nigeria is still as it is, its busy focusing on the little things when there are bigger matters to worry about!
PoliticsRe: Omg! - N90m Marriage & Funeral Budget For Govt Staff. by zebra543: 1:20pm On Jul 28, 2010
I dont think anything actually sounds ridiculous to the ears of Nigerians, except for homosexuality! First it was that huge ass budget for the anniversary now this! Seriously if they have nothing to do with the money- how bout givin us some electricity? providing our children with decent education? rescuing orphans and children that live on the beach? teaching the young ones its not right for a grown man to have sex with them? if thats not humane enough then they can try structuring the dagerous ass roads putting some foot bridges on the expressway so people will stop getting hit by speeding cars, what of those people whose houses and farms erode every rain season? can nothing be done to help them? Maybe decent facililities in hospitals so more lives can be saved?? Seems all these people care about are parties smh
TV/MoviesRe: Nollywood Slams N250,000 Clearance Fee On Foreign Actors by zebra543: 12:50pm On Jul 28, 2010
^^ actually many countries do that, they limit the amount of play foreign music gets to allow local music to thrive, they have been asking for the same to be done in London. Harsh moves always has to be made to protect the economy of YOUR OWN country. If nigeria doesnt get that then its nobody elses fault!

thats why you should make an agreement with him, it makes no sense to me anyways. why a woman will tolerate such just for financial stability- one wont sell her organs on the street so why should she sell out her dignity? well i guess whatever works for you!
TV/MoviesRe: Nollywood Slams N250,000 Clearance Fee On Foreign Actors by zebra543: 8:17am On Jul 28, 2010

TV/MoviesRe: Nollywood Slams N250,000 Clearance Fee On Foreign Actors by zebra543: 11:52pm On Jul 27, 2010
genevieve for one during the ban there was around 10 of them living there just because they mention 'naira' doesnt make the movie 'nollywood' most ghanian movies are shot as if they are nigerian! van vicker and majid rarely act in nigeria if they have ever even done so, the point of the fees is to reduce the foreiners in the 'home' country the fee isnt being 'slammed' at the rare mention of naira- do sum research before you start lamenting here!

leave him, divorce him, make an agreement on alimony and child support. Dont look back- he has no respect for you and you dont want your children to become like him! Don listen to women who have low esteem and think its ok for a man to treat a woman wrongly, stop pleading with him you have done nothing wrong, leave him and dont look back, you can find someone else who will respect you!

TV/MoviesRe: Nollywood Slams N250,000 Clearance Fee On Foreign Actors by zebra543: 12:41pm On Jul 27, 2010
@ amaka- that is simply my point, the movie industry is not a playground where the administrators can behave like toddlers 'because they taxed us' is not a valid reason to imposing new fees, @ the end of the day there a very few if any ghanians in the nigerian film industry- this i know FOR A FACT! how many ghanian actors living in nigeria do you know?

@tkb are you saying there are no nigerians in ghana?

@londoner- thats not true, Many of the soo called 'nigerian movies' are actually shot in ghana, they just make it seem like nigeria ie by using the naira currency, because in the end nollywood is still more popular and people recognise nigerians more, Nigerian producers produce thier movies in ghana and nigerian actresses prefer to work in ghana because the legislations are too strict! There are many Nigerian actors living in ghana, the same problem which lead to the ban of many actors in nigeria some years back is what ghollywood is trying to avoid, this time with NIGERIAN ACTORS trying to hog the limelight. It makes no sense for them to freely shoot in ghana how will others be opportuned?
if most of you remove that superiority over ghanians complex you have you will see reason. Ghananians are not worried about Nigerians anybody who has been to ghana recently will know why, they are just trying to improve thier industry and make way for thier own people! A notion which i totally understand and fully support, Nigeria should take note of this in many of thier industries, the oil one for example- its time they stopped the influx of foreigners and supported thier own!

cold:
This has to be dumbest criticism i have read since i joined NL.So it's ok for gollywood to slam a fee on nigerians in order to protect their movie industry from 'Nigerian immigrants' but not so for Nigeria. Is that what you refer to as an intelligent debate?
Whatever happened to 'what's good for the goose is also good for the gander'.Do we now have different set of rules for the same game.Or is this another Christlike 'turn the other cheek' sermon.
It doesnt sound to me like you have much sense yourself, Nollywood has no solid reason for this imposition! Gollywood does! you seem to be having that same childish superiority complex the fools running nollywood have, whats the percentage of nigerian actors in gollywood? whats the percentage of gollywood actors in nigeria? whose industry more popular? whose industry still needs more time and its own people to develop? which countries citizens are migrating to where because of bans imposed on them by thier own countries? please use your common sense!

Aglah1976:
@Zebra,
I dont expect anything with lots of sense from someone with that kind of user name anyways{ZEBRA} sounds more animalistic to me and this forum is for HUMANS NOT THOSE FROM THE ZOO'S OF CIVILIZATION, {Gollywood had a very good reason for what they did, there were too many Nigerians immigrating and its not fair on the indigenes, nollywod is just being childish}were you sleeping or grazing grass when you typed this??
I had lived in Ghana Dansoman to be precise in Accra, i worked there as an Actor under G.P.M.H and Emorat Productions {of AGYA KOO IN LONDON AND MON FA YENO fame respectively}I knew what i went through before i was even picked or allowed to voice any comments all because AM A NIGERIAN and other members even the C.E.O felt intimidated, so why wont we impose bills as well on foreign actors? i am waiting to meet any of you guys here on Nigerian soil without your clearances paid, why should Ghana, Ghana lasan lasan impose bills on Nigerians, who is teaching who?? how many people globally watches your SEMI indecency MOVIES WITH ONE WAY STORY LINE?? how many people globally watches your LOCALLY MADE 'EFIE WURA' OR TWI MOVIES?? when will you guys wake up??
you can never out ride or out shine or out act we Nigerians when it comes to the movie industry, put 1 NIGERIAN STAGE PERFORMER ASIDE 10 GHANAIAN PROFESSIONAL ACTORS AND ACTRESSES AND YOU WILL SEE WHAT AM TALKING ABOUT,
OLOSIOUS FELLOWS!
this just sounds like the rant of a madman, instead of trying to decipher what ever irrational point you were trying to make with the garbage you have typed, ill just refer you to what ive written above

they think they are soo intelligent yet they cant get a point accross without resulting to aggression, yet they call others animals! no wonder ghanians are imposing fees on you!
TV/MoviesRe: Nollywood Slams N250,000 Clearance Fee On Foreign Actors by zebra543: 9:53pm On Jul 26, 2010
this is very stupid, its not a competition, laws are meant to be made to support the people and not spite other nations! How did you guys feel when Nigeria was put on a terror list? simply because Nigeria had more problems to deal with than a haywire pant bomber at the time!
How many ghanian actors work in nigeria anyways? so who will really suffer from this? Nollywoods board gets a little too exited they need to pipe down! Gollywood had a very good reason for what they did, there were too many Nigerians immigrating and its not fair on the indigenes, nollywod is just being childish!

tpiah i know he wasnt trying to be insulting i was correcting his use of the word standards, if you say something is of higher standard it means you are stating it has superiority if feel inferior as a black individual to white women thats your beef, dont feel the need to correct me i know exactly what im saying thank you very much! I never stated he has to carry nigeria on his head, i never said there was a problem liking white women, what exactly is your point?
bawo if you didnt understand me i was saying dont use the words standards to describe ones taste in a particular race! simple i dont think i can make it any clearer! #thatisall

what exactly do you think his other half is? chinese? your missing the point, being british has nothing to do with it, and him liking white women its not a standard, its a preference!
If i told you i only liked white men, and then said its because I have higher standards how would you feel? He should have learnt to be racially sensitive, we all have our ideals we dont need to go around insulting those that dont fit into it!

bawomolo:
it's a sign of inferiority complex that black women are actually worried they aren't portrayed as sexual objects in a music video.  Is that really a privilege you want to fight for?

It's not a must tayo acknowledges his nigerian heritage especially for someone raised in the UK all his life. same goes for sade adu and co.
Of course not bawo it's not about the fact he never has black women in his video or that he isn't quick to rant on about his heritage, it's the reasons he gave! Craig David had to do the exact same thing because they believed him having Only White love interests will make his audience diverse, that is understandable taio went onto say he has never spotted an attractive black woman at his castings if that doesn't sound disrespectful to you as a black person I must say it's sounds very disrespectful to me, a White man will never get away with saying that talkles of a black man about a White woman! Taio is a coconut no doubt about that but even coconuts don't have to be rascist. It's an illusion and an effect of the media on society to assume ones whue counterparts are superior to or more attractive another. Him taking on his mothers name just goes on to prove the struggle he's having with identifyin himself as a black African man! Don't assume I'm just upset because he doesn't talk about Nigeria I don't talk about Nigeria myself and I won't randomly mention it if I don't have to; it's a different. Chamillionaire adebayor and Sade adu arent heavily familiar with thier Nigerian sides but they are not ashamed of it neither do they alienate themselves from it!
