Trust people to call money recklessly. We're talking weed o, not the white substance.

Has this dude seen 200m in his lifetime? Next please.
Career › Re: How Much Is A Good Salary In Present Day Nigeria? by zed7: 1:20pm On May 24
wirinet:
This is the reality of living in any major city in Nigeria today, when I say living, I mean living with minimum comfort and conveniences of a modern society. N1million naira is adequate for a family of 3 with a toddler, but with no extended family obligations. It will be hardly enough for an average family with 3 or 4 grown up children. They will barely survive on N1m per month. Rent is crazy nowadays, a standard 3 bedroom flat in a decent areas of lagos will gulp a minimum of N2million a year, school fees, lesson and educational materials for the children (not university) will gulp nothing less than N800,000 every 3 months. Decent Food alone will gulp at least N500,000 per months (breakfast alone will cost at least N6,000). There are service and utility bills - NEPA (Band A), cooking gas, drinking water, airtime and data. Then there are personal care and hygiene - soaps, creams, clothes, hair grooming, etc for the whole family.
Petrol and transportation nko. If the man drives to work instead of taking public transport, he easily expend N200,000 a month on petrol alone. We have not even mention cost of servicing and maintaining a vehicle.
The problem with Nigeria today is that our psyche and mentality has been so degraded. We don't know what fairly decent standard of living means anymore. A family of 5 living in a room and parlour, eating very poor quality food, sleeping without power for weeks, with the children attending poor quality schools is now seen as normal.
Good write up. Many people are either used to extreme poverty, are still very young and live with parents or live outside a big city. Many people don't know that 1m monthly isn't much.

Though the OP has just a young child, I expect he should be able to save at least 200k monthly if prudent.

Some of us have a small family but with kids in secondary school, we know that 1m naira is nothing if you want to live a normal middle class life in a place like Lagos.

Before 2023, 1m was a bit reasonable, but as at now, 1m is a joke. For a family of 4 in a place like Lagos, with kids in decent school and a middle class neighborhood, you will need at least 1.5m monthly to live a fairly average life.
Crime › Re: Lagos Billionaire In Menstrual Pad Scandal; Girlfriend Flees Abroad by zed7: 4:33pm On May 22
Any story with billionaire and name withheld is not to be taken serious. The story has lots of holes in it.

Like everything in Nigeria, quality and reputation is going downhill. Imagine what a national newspaper is publishing.
Romance › Re: 40 Years Old Woman Complains Of Lack Of Husband by zed7: 7:12pm On May 20
People should start facing reality, many men and women will not get married. It's a fall out of modernity.

Hypergamy and monogamy has greatly reduced availability of marriage partners. People should wake up and face reality.
Politics › Re: Desmond Elliot Has Officially Withdrawn From The APC Primaries by zed7: 4:19pm On May 20
They enjoy the corrupt process that brought them in, and then go ahead to try and fight the corruption when they are rejected. Hopeless politicians.
Business › Re: Having Money Is One Thing, Spending Judiciously Is Another Thing by zed7: 8:37am On May 15
There is a point to managing money, however, you need to have enough to be able to manage it successfully.

70k minimum wage is unmanageable in a place like Lagos, no matter how you try.

A few people make millions and have nothing to show for it. For majority, it is even having enough that is the issue.
Business › Re: How Much Is In Your Emergency Fund? by zed7: 12:59pm On May 13
Emergency fund is a reasonable thing to have. However, even a millionaire is a step away from going broke if a terminal illness shows up.
Politics › Re: Court Jails Ex-Minister Saleh Mamman 75 Years Over ₦33.8bn Fraud by zed7:
This is a scape goat. There are lots of people stealing money and going away scot free. How is a current Minister driving a Rolls Royce publicly and bragging about it. Forget jor.

Almost all politicians and political officers holders should be jailed if the law wants to be fair.

I saw this on YouTube and other social media. Google it, a returnee doctor, making stuff like hip and knee replacement more affordable.

This is sad, however I'm careful with stories like this. While I don't like these modern day pastorpreneurs, this may not be the full story.
Family › Re: The 6 Stages Of Marriage And How Couples Cope With The Changing Dynamics by zed7: 9:11am On Apr 07
Very apt. I've experienced all the stages, after almost 15 years. Like I say, luck dey marriage. I could have been divorced in the first few years if I had married the wrong partner.

It's not every person you can go through life with, no matter how good or understanding you are. People should make it easier fot themselves by choosing very carefully.
Properties › Re: Top 10 Cheapest Areas To Rent A 2-bedroom Apartment In Lagos. by zed7:
Minimum wage is 70k. More than 90% of Nigerians don't earn up to 500k a month.

This country is interesting. Nothing ever adds up.
Celebrities › Re: Actress Toyosi Adesanya Welcomes Baby Girl Through Surrogacy by zed7: 11:28am On Mar 22
Just to clarify, surrogate is in two forms. If the woman has a healthy egg, it can be put in the surrogate and the child will have the genetics of the mum and dad.

If the woman doesn't have a healthy egg, the surrogate's egg will be used. The child will share the genetics of the surrogate and the dad.

Of course, option 1 is preferable, but some women don't have healthy eggs.

Some may wonder why if you have a healthy egg, what's the need for a surrogate? A woman may have a healthy egg but not have a healthy womb, hence birthing isn't possible.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Nigeria Agrees To Receive Offenders, Failed Asylum Seekers From UK by zed7: 5:27am On Mar 20
With all our intellectuals, we're still not wise. We're like poor kids that they flatter with nonsense slogans like "naija nor dey carry last and naija jollof" and our leaders smile sheepishly because a white man is using our slogan.

Anyone that wants to listen should listen and face reality. Nothing will ever come out of the black race, except the world is wiped out and creation starts again from the scratch.
Politics › Re: ‘Nigerian Jollof Best, Naija No Dey Carry Last’ - King Charles Tells Tinubu by zed7: 1:50pm On Mar 19
They should stop all the rubbish. It's the kind of things told to kids to flatter them.
Celebrities › Re: Apple Unveils Macbook Air M5 Using Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s 'Let’s Start' by zed7: 6:11am On Mar 04
Abami Eda. I still rock Fela's music till date. Good music never dies, noise making will only trend for a while.

Someone should tell these new generation of noisemakers that.

His kids should be ashamed to have this man as a ffather.

I believe this is the first time he's being heard in parliament and he used the opportunity to spew trash.
Business › Re: 14 "Laziest" Businesses You Can Start As A Woman Without A Degree by zed7:
Always easier said than done. I've come to realize that nothing is easy when it comes to making money. Wait till you start freelancing or blogging and come back and report if it's easy money.

The only people enjoying easy money is those with rich parents. Then again, the parents have or are doing the hard work.
Romance › Re: Seeking Honest Advice: Choosing One Relationship To Focus On by zed7:
You write well, but it seems you're not so smart. How can your lady M even be an option? I will not even bring myself to discuss her.

The London lady seems the best fit. Level headed, focused and already understands Western living.

The Benin based lady is young. In my opinion, she just likes the idea of dating a man abroad and will likely agree to any conditions for now.

Let me advice you as someone with more than a decade experience of marriage. What you need is peace, support and compatibility. You need someone for the long term who shares similar values.

Forget looks, that's one of the least things to worry about. Those things will not matter if your partner turns into a monster.

Most times after marriage, the girl who you couldn't get enough of sexually will walk around the house naked and you wouldn't even get aroused.

Consider the London girl as an option, but nothing stops you from looking around if you still think there is something better for you out there.

The mam is old and frail. At least, we thank God he didn't fall and break a bone. Thats what happens when grandpa's decide to galavant instead of staying home to play with the grand kids.

Abeg show me road 🙏
The only road i know that has brought me to this level is to go to school, get highly desired certifications and do the work for almost 20 years, you will achieve the level of success that can make you play on your phone from morning till night.

As a young man, you must put in the work, grind for many years and success will come. Nobody in life can 'show you road', except you're looking for illegal means to make money, which in itself isn’t easy.

You read when I said i've paid my dues, I've been working for 20 years and I'm at senior management. Nothing comes easy. The point in my i initial post is to stop wasting time on your phone and grind in the real world.
Phones › Re: What Do You Guys Really Do With Your Phone? by zed7: 3:34pm On Jan 25
A lot of my free time is spent browsing, using chat gbt, YouTube, Instagram. I spend too much time on my phone, thankfully, I've paid my dues.

I have my income, have a family and have pretty much achieved what I should be achieving at my age. I can afford to play with my free time.

Please, if youre still hustling to find your feet, stay away from constantly using your phone. It is a thief of time!. Thank God phone wasn't a thing while I was in school and trying to find my feet.

While the internet has its uses, it's more of a problem than a blessing for most people.

Celebrities › Re: Famous Black Nigerian Men Who Married Other Men (video) by zed7: 6:32pm On Jan 19
Nothing as disgusting as people spreading rumours about others without evidence. Nobody can sue you, because you're likely penniless, a jail term is what your likes deserve.

It's painful to lose a loved one, take heart. I know how angry she is, but know that some things are unexplainable.

It may seem like neglect, but somethings are unexplainable. Don't dwell on it so much.

Romance › Re: Sex Is Overrated (from A Man’s POV) by zed7: 9:36am On Jan 02
Without a connection it is flat and disappointing. When you have a connection, it is pleasurable and fun. However, when you've done it for so long with the same person, connection or not, it becomes a chore.

It's funny how life is. A man who can hardly do one round with his wife, will do three rounds with his side chick, until he tires of the side chick and isn't even willing to go one round with her anymore.

Romance › Re: Lady Rejects Talking Stage With Man Despite Spending ₦3M On Her by zed7: 7:03pm On Dec 17, 2025
There is nothing that says a person must be accepted irrespective of what he or she spends on another.

If they don't feel you, then they don't. That's why you don't use money to impress people.

Person wey nor like you nor like you, that's a bitter fact people must learn.

Disgusting habit. I don't know the weird people who think it's love or cool.

It's a different thing if it's a mistake, but to be doing it on purpose and call it love or romantic, is madness to me.
