Strange as it is, it's now obvious that those who critize tecno for their lack of innovation and poor put-together of phone hardwares are their only customers.

I have seen over a handful of persons on this thread with applaud for this mishit of a device, yet not even a single buyer from the numerous thumbs up.
Instead of you people to call tecno latest additions what they are, and detest tecno's ineptitude towards smartphone manufacturing, you are trying to sway people into buying this expensive joke as a martphone.

Arguing with u is pointless. If u think the back of gionee m5 is metal then it is pointless replying u. If u own the phone go check very well, it is actually plastic painted to look like metal. Same thing Innjoo did with their flex tab.

Also the screen to body ratio of m5 and j8 are almost the same... M5 is 72.2% while j8 is 77.35%. But u failed to mention that the m5 is very thick at 8.6mm while boom j8 is slimmer at 7.35mm. U also failed to mention that the m5 has a non backlit capacitive buttons... What were they even thinking?

And what future update are u talking about? Does that explain why a phone released in June 2015 is still stuck on lollipop after 1 full year of release? Android N is coming soon and ur m5 would probably not even see marshmallow... So where's the future update?

M5 and j8 have same processors clocked at same speed, same screen resolution, how is m5 superior.? I'm not saying the j8 is superior but m5 is not any better... They are both same mid range low resolution phones. Gionee people just like bragging like the m5 is some kind of super phone lol.

Yes gionee m5 is sold internationally while the boom j8 is sold in nigeria and some parts of West Africa only.. But do u know the m5 that is sold in other countries is better than the ones sold here? Yes... those ones have 3gb of ram and better processors.

I won't buy the tecno boom j8 or advice anyone to buy it.... So far, I have suggested Gionee m5 to 4 persons who have nothing but praises for the phone.
Am buying gionee m5 plus when it starts selling in Nigeria in two weeks time if it's specs matches it's performance.

I love mtk devices, that is why I walk around these threads.
And my point has been made, whoever wishes to go ahead with boom j8 or gionee m5 is free to do so, afterall it's of no consequence to me, seeing me or anyone close to me won't be getting tecno boom j8 ever.

Just for informative purpose only, no tecno device has been upgraded from a previous android version to a higher one, not even phantom 5..... Expect marshmallow 6.0.1 for gionee m5 soon.

Looks like u don't understand what I mean by pixels. I use a phone with screen resolution of 1440x2560 and 5.1 inch at 577 ppi and u can never see pixels on its display because it is quad HD. Ur gionee m5 and boom j8 both have resolutions of 1280x720, when u spread that over 5.5 inch that is a measly 267 PPI. So tell me what is wonderful about that display that warrants them to sell it for 55k? The display of m5 and j8 are the same, the only difference is one is amoled while the other is Ips.

Look I'm not saying gionee m5 is a bad phone, i just don't get the reason why u people call it 'almighty M5'. There is nothing really special about that phone except the battery. Its got 2gb of ram, same as j8. Same screen resolution, same 1.3ghz cortex A53 processor even though boom j8 has a slightly better MT6753. They both have 13mp main camera, support for SD card. Boom j8 has better build quality, better stereo speakers with equalizer and hios looks more refined than amigo. So, abeg what is so almighty about gionee m5 pls tell me.

That said, if you already know then that Gionee m5 uses a screen material amoled while tecno J8 uses ips, how then would you say gionee m5 screen is inferior to that of tecno j8 when both uses the same display panel?

If you are using/used any Samsung device you wouldn't compare both displays even if you are yet to see them....

When you say build quality, you can't make a choice for everyone, your choice of shape when it comes to phone might not be mine. Except you are telling me the screen to body ratio of tecno J8 is better than gionee m5, because I for one don't care too much about phone weight so long it stays on use not on charge every 3hours, but I do love big screen device with compact body, hence the screen to body ratio question.... So are you saying that Tecno boom j8 has a better screen to body ratio compared to gionee m5?

Talking about speakers, gionee have been known to make phones with loud and bass-filled internal speaker phones, thanks to their tailored audiophile software enhancement through amigo ui, the external audio output is even more wowing.
If you have used any gionee device from Gionee m3 upwards you would know why gionee phones are expensive.

Just seeing your claims that Gionee m5 is all plastic and not metal framed with metal back cover now... Do you know gionee m5 is a device sold in major countries in Africa and Asia not just Nigeria? So if you are sure Gionee m5 is made of plastic not metal as Gionee said, reaffirm your claim with proof.

I'm not a fan of any tecno phone either, but if I'm to choose either as a side phone (I can't use any of them as my main phone) I'll choose the j8. If u think I'm a tecno marketer then I can also say u are a gionee marketer.

With your every statement it's harder to believe you speak of gionee m5 and not something else.... And pixel density are meant to be visible, if you are talking of the invisible pixels lost due to over stretch of the display... It is almost certain that the absence of pixels will come to play during high gaming and video playback... saying tecno boom J8 has a better display compared to gionee m5 is as strange as it sounds... I never thought you were a marketer, but even if you were, going against gionee m5 with tecno boom j8 will only leave you short of ways to advertise.

Lol. Tecno agent? Check all my posts, i don't do Chinese phones. I use an iPhone and galaxy s6. I don't hate any phone but I hate the way tecno agents are over hyping their phones. But the truth is gionee m5 is not a better phone than boom j8. I've played with both phones, j8 is more sleek while m5 has a Big nig battery but it is just too bulky for my likeness. Oh and the display sucks... that is for both phones. Why keep releasing 5.5 inch phones with 720p display when they could have just made the screen like 4.7-5 inch, that would give a better PPI. And I still wonder why gionee would think 55k is right price for phone with such terrible display.

If truely you are using any of the phones you just mentioned you won't ask anyone, friend or foe to pick this hardpress boom j8 over gionee m5..... It's odd anyone would even compare both device, price or not....

It's even more realistic to compare infinix note 2 to Gionee m5, not this test piece from tecno. If in 2016 tecno could go back in time to make phones with faulty touch sensitivity like they did in mid 2014 with the first batches of tecno m5, then tecno is better left buying their own products.....

Lol. Sorry I forgot I did not go to school so I don't know how to read. Keep consoling urself, gionee m5 might be the best of the best for u but to me it is just an overpriced mid range phone and the only thing its got is its big battery.

I've played with the phone many times and to be sincere i didn't expect more from its display. It is a 5.5 inch phone with 720p display for goodness sake, there are bound to be pixels and there are lots of pixels. If u can't see the pixels it means u haven't used a phone with qhd display or even a FHD display.

The major turn off is the UI which is ugly and terrible. Boom j8 has a far better UI and their display are the same thing. If I have to choose between the 2 I'll pick the j8 and keep 15k change. If I want more battery I'd buy a powerbank for 5k and still keep 10k.

Yet you are not a fan of both phones, and said you checked it out in Slot, suddenly you have played with it and noticed the missing pixels in it's display... Keeping 15k change will be worthless when you buy a phone you spend time wishing you didn't..... If all these claims you have about gionee m5 were half true, the phone won't be selling from late last year till date.... No too much talk though.... I doubt you are talking of Gionee m5.

As for the display, both are the same, I immediately noticed the low resolution on both phones when I picked them.. The pixels are noticeable. (Maybe because ive been spoilt by qhd displays). Boom j8 looks better though and its got s better ui. The m5 ui is so terrible I don't think i can ever use it. If battery life is not a top priority, I see no reason why anyone would choose a gionee m5 over a tecno boom j8. It is heavy, ui is ugly and price is expensive.

You were showed "Something m5".... Not gionee m5, sorry.

Yes.. I think tecno deserves to be left alone. Them no care about their users, and with users who adore their crappi-ness and lack of innovation, that won't change any time soon.

So instead of sending os upgrade for Droidpad 8 and finding a work around the woeful multitasking on the tab, na droidpad 8D them do.... Yet they wonder wetin drive their old customers to infinix and gionee.

When infinix launched the hot note come and see celebration, I can say they had the highest phone sales as at last year, but those who used theirs more than 6 months saw farther the the beauty and jaw dropping specs, they saw it was a big failure as it's hardware fails after one year, it's not even durable, the complains were legendary.

Same fate awaits the note 2 you are more like a lab rat, cause even if you finish the maze you are still a rat.

My review about the battery, I used the phone extensively on heavy usage but I won't say it last a full day extensively, more like 6-7hrs tops with little juice left...but I still love it mehn....when ever I bring it out to do anything, I get comments like "I love this, pls what brand".

Would have been easier to recommend the infinix note pro of 32gig rom/2gig ram for you, sadly it's no longer on sale. I wouldn't advice you to buy a 1gig ram device for 28k, even if the device is powered by a 6000mah battery and mtk 6795t chipset.
That said, the innjoo max 2 plus appears like a really nice device, and for 23.5k, it seems like a good bargain until you find out its just a 1gig ram device.
The fact is, buying a 1gig ram device these days is nailing your hand to your dinner table, you see the good food served but can't eat. So as harsh and disturbing as it appears, go for the infinix note with 2gig ram/16gig rom, if you can live with a 1gig ram device, go for the innjoo max 2plus... Though I don't trust innjoo When it comes to phones or tablets, so turn the web upside down for theory and video reviews of the innjoo max 2 plus before going for it..... Sorry that these are the options available to us here in Nigeria, seems like we either buy junks or buy crap.
