I am in canada don’t let anyone deceive it’s not easy in canada. Don’t go by word of mouth I live here for now. 80 percent of residence here earns just between 40k to 45k cad per annum.

Also note that Jobs is very difficult to get in canada. Skilled jobs are more difficult. Menial jobs are also not everywhere. Also things are very expensive here most especially accommodation. Canada is between no doubt and everything is working but not the way it’s being painted . Only thing is most Average job hours are from 15, 17, 19cad of which junior doctors in uk get 14 pounds per hour which is just a bit higher than minimum here ! Also note that the social work that people are doing easily in uk you can’t try that here in canada. You must study before getting social work job you must have passed PSW . Also most jobs here requires a license certificate.
I agree with obtaining certifications to boost your chances which is the same in all parts of the world, but the fact that 80% of people earn 45k/yr is not exactly true. I am in recruiting here and to the least, I have a fairly good data on this topic.

I lived in the UK for some years and it wasn't that bad there too. In my opinion, I would surely choose Canada ahead cos of how easy it is to own assets (house) and the clear transition to becoming a citizen (years 3). I have friends here making 7k weekly... They have been here for about 1 year. Meanwhile, the weather here is harsh and it's harder to go back home due to the long distance unlike UK.

Everyone should chase what they wanna... So long the goal is to leave Naija but I wouldn't discourage anyone from coming to Canada. The circle you keep will always determine your success anywhere.

I once posted about this.

While it will favour some people, it will not favour others, especially those that have merited to obtain high CRS scores. To me, this is just a federal scale of PNP.

It will literally take this Canadian journey from peoples hands, and place it in the hands of IRCC to only invite those that have certain work experience or language etc.

Alright, thanks

With a crazy salary?

Whoa, that's great.

Please, like what range?
Depends on the firm... Firms would pay around 120k - 140k to developers with like 3-5 years experience... More goes to folks with more experience. Also, Full-stack developers usually earn more.

I know firms based in the US pay way more cos of their market and also due to the USD to CAD conversion rate.

Hi Zeus, is your company recruiting for business analyst? I’m interested in Business Analyst openings. Thank you.
For now, I'd say BA would be really hard to push for visa sponsorship because the talent are in abundance in Canada. When seeking to sponsor work permit for foreign nationals, the govt here really scrutinize the process and would only approve such WP when you can prove that the skillet is hard to find or cannot be found here. That's why it's relatively easier for core technical folks like developers, architect etc to get visa sponsorship.

It's a way to ensure people within Canada are employed.

Just to clarify, does it take the same number of weeks for Nigerian in another country to get a Canadian work permit?
Yes, your nationality plays a role in the processing timeline for a closed work permit.

Do you recruit for IT related roles?
Yes I do... I actually focus on technical recruiting. Only concern is that sponsoring work permit for Nigerians take about 57 weeks... That's wayyyy too long for employers (especially my firm) to wait...except it's a very hard to find skills globally. Nationals from other countries take way lesser... Like 3 weeks or less.

Oh really. Then it's sad.

Truth is we need people in Canada. I am in recruiting here and the market is bleeding. Loads of work but no one to do it. And it's worrying IRCC is dragging their foot on this process.

Calm down! They didn't state that it will start today. They only said it will resume in July. Loads of mid-weeks are in July.

all that will take months to 1 year, employers are looking to hire immediately. I get an average of 3 recruiter’s email on LinkedIn daily. Companies are increasing salaries and offering sign up bonus to potential new hires. Canada really needs to improve on its immigration processes and paperwork. The citizens too have to stop this cat and dog nonsense and start giving birth angry
You are completely spot on!... Opportunities for recruiters right now in the market is crazy! I have literally changed jobs 5 times in 10 months of being here and each of theses firms gave me something higher at each movements. While it is commonly known that job hopping isn't a good idea on one's resume, these firms just don't care, they approach you even when they know you just moved to a new place and promise heaven and earth to get you. What's my own, I will Kuku take their offer and move, erase the previous company from my resume.. Lolz.

This is how crazily competitive the market is right now. Every company is struggling to get and retain talents... Hence, why I said the country need immigrants. Just one or two years of not actively allowing people in and the market is this way.

@Ednut, where in Canada are you in? Let's connect
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by Zeus04:

Y'all (recruiters) too should hire ppl from outside and get lmia.
Not so easy. The process to bring in a foreign hire and sponsor their work visa is hard... Most times, the govt would make you prove that you can't find the skillset locally before giving an approval to issue such visa to someone outside.. Most firms shy away cos the process is often cumbersome. In most times, it's not worth the stress unless it has become extremely critical. For now, IT and medical folks stand a good chance of getting such sponsors
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by Zeus04:

Do you mean that there is a shortage of skilled workers? Because we keep hearing stories of people getting to Canada and saying they can’t find a job.
YES!!! The shortage is unbelievable! Although, focused on some fields though... Eg the entire IT field, HR (esp talent management and recruiters), medical field etc. It's extremely hard to find these skill sets right now

You are not far from the truth, though it's dishartneing. FSW draw will most likely happen first Quarter of 2022. Conference organised by immigration lawyers last month in Canada where there was a representative of ircc, somehow revealed what likely we are to expect next year. When asked why there has not been general draw this year, he replied that because of the travel restrictions ircc focused on meeting the target for 2021. So they concentrated on inland applications and invitations just to meet up with their annual quota. He said from 2022, outlands application and invitations will be focused on.
So my thoughts are, when draw finally resumes, ITAs will be dished out regularly with force and hopefully things will speed up. Let's keep hope alive. Last last everybody go dey alright.
They better open doors. It's been so hard to hire people in this Canada... As a recruiter, you will literally be begging people to take your employment offer. It's evident that Canada need immigrants... They can't survive without it.

For you all asking to connect on Linkedin... I am more than happy to connect. However, I am not sure if its allowed for me to post my linkedin profile here. Perhaps, elders here can advise on that.

As for jobs connect, no be me they give work o.. Lol. But I know quite a number of recruiters here I can send profiles as referrals and even better for roles I am directly hiring for. Also, if we get connected on Linkedin and you apply for any role u see me and the recruiter are connected, I will be happy to help reach out to the recruiter. Some of them owe me one.

Also, part of what I take time to do is talk recruiting here in Canada to help new comers to understand the market. Below is a virtual session I recently jumped on last Saturday... Hope there is a thing or two someone can pick from watching the video. I am the light skinned dude in the video.

Thank you for your encouraging words. Honestly, we need more people like you, who have passed through this process and have started new lives over there to keep engaging those of us who are still behind.
I know it's not easy keeping up sometimes, especially while you're yet to be fully acclamatised and settled in your new found home, but it would be really nice if we could get that. Thanks, once again. smiley
Thanks bro for the kind words. Someday, it will be your turn to help folks settle here. I got loads of help when I arrived which really helped me settle fast. And it's also for the rest of us to return the favour... Including you guys here. I strongly believe the naija community will be even stronger soonest.

Thanks! Can't wait for you to come o! We all must encourage and support ourselves in this journey...honestly, it can be draining. I really give thumbs up to folks here that take time to guide people free of charge. I sometimes get irritated when I see those immigration consultants trying to exploit people cos they know better.

I really don't know much about the process cos mine was pretty straightforward but what I have been doing here in Canada is to help people settle, especially in the job side of things. The almighty blessed me to land a fantastic job within weeks of arrival (what some Canadians struggle to get) and I have since felt indebted to support others. I am in the HR/recruiting space here and I am very happy to connect with people on Linkedin for now, especially those that are on their way soon.

Hey guys,

It's been 9 months since I last visited this page... I remember when I was also going through this process, posting here on NL and sometimes felt the Canada dream will never come. The almighty did it for me and my family and I am sure he will do same for ya'all. Since I arrived here in January this year, it's been a life changing journey with loads of opportunities and blessings!

Just thought to encourage everyone that the struggles and the seeming current unending wait will turn out good... It's all time. And trust me, it's all worth it.

Meanwhile, good news... The Liberals won the election yesterday... JT is still here so hopefully, the immigration pathway will gain some traction in the coming weeks/months. Fingers crossed!

Cheers guys!

On the other hand, does anyone have an idea if PHRi can be converted to CPHR (BC & Yukon). I have seen some people say it's possible while others think SPHRi is what can be used. I need to clarify this. Thank you.

Nb - I sent an enquiry mail to the organization in question, but I'm yet to get any response.
So sorry guys, haven't been here since December 2020 because of the entire process and activities to travel and land Canada. I got here about 3 weeks ago and the integration process takes a lot from you... Loads to learn and pick up. Also I still work remotely for my naija firm and the time difference has been mad!

In all, it's been really good. I will encourage anyone including my enemy to push harder to land here... Its really much better here than how we hear it, aside the cold sha..lolz. it's colder than how they explain it.. Imagine being in -35 in Alberta at some point last week. Lol.

@Tundeom, I have reached out to you via email, we will communicate better.

Cheers guys!

Congrats mehn! This was a bloody long wait. As at your AOR date, I’d just paid for WES and hadn’t even sent transcripts or thought about IELTS yet I got PPR before you. This journey na real patience backed with prayer. Congrats once again.

PS- do not send your passport to any VFS in Africa, some of us still dey on the matter since o. This goes for all recent PPR recipients.
This part of VSF in Africa (Accra) is true o. They have delayed most of us... However, they resumed treating applications last week Thursday as most of us got mails that our passports moved to IRCC Ghana for stamping. I think they generally woke up cos they also issued loads of PPRs that same day.

Now the twist of sending your passport to the UK (London) may be a risky one too o. I underatand London will be heading into a Tier 4 Covid lockdown from Monday... Might mean these VOs may stop going to work. My advice for those that are yet to send their passports...try to observe how Monday turns out and read news too before you act.

Las las, we will all get there.. Can't wait to see ya'all in Canny!

Dear House,
Please help look into this:
I started my application alone.
ITA was received in September 2019. Age 30, birthday in May.
Medicals and Biometrics done in October 2019.
PPR was finally issued in February 2020.
I decided to add spouse to avoid boredom in strange land and hurdles of sponsoring spouse later on. Marriage took place first week in March and notification sent to CIC.
All the documents for the spouse( Medicals and Police report) were also prepared immediately after marriage as we expected this would be submitted.
We submitted all documents and added spouse to application by 3rd week in March, including police report and medicals.
Till date, CIC has not responded to enquiries or provided update for spouse or requested for her biometrics. All web forms keep getting the same response that it is being processed and that additional information will be asked if required. We requested for GCMS notes and the last update on it stated April 2020.
Please what could be causing the hold up, do we keep raising web forms or just wait and hope for the best?
I will be 32 in 2021. Is age going to be a factor?
Lest I forget, my passport even expired during this process on my birthday. I have gotten a new passport, and added it to my application. Needless to say, my medicals is also over a year.
huh
It's really sad for the delay man. I understand IRCC delays applications for addional dependents for some reason. A friend of mine got PPR I'm November 2019 and was due to deliver her child in January... For some reason, she decided to wait back to deliver here and add the baby before processing the VISA... Till date, no word from IRCC. Not sure if its a deliberate decision but I think you should keep writing them, perhaps it will help.

PPR... Finally.

I came across this thread on Nairaland some months after AOR, in fact we were already PPR expectant and reading PPR/landing gists, gave me great joy.

To appreciate how long and frustrating this journey was, I'll say this:

I unexpectedly fell preggers like that my friend Linda grin. This was few months after AOR

We were excited about the intending Canny baby.

Let's sha say that AVO and Covid dashed that dream. That baby that was formed few months after AOR will clock one in a few months time.

E shock una abi... So you guys will appreciate how myself and many others waited for this PPR like no man's business.

It has definitely ended in Praise and Thanksgiving.

PPR will fall on every single one waiting by the grace of God. Amen

To all those that mentioned me and prayed for this, THANK YOU
Mehn... Congrats!!! Loooonnnnnngggg over due. God has done it for u too!!! So happy for you!!!

What he said is not quite accurate.
Yes it would have been easier if you were paid via bank but people have gotten PPr with cash payment.
Also if the school had online presence it would also help but that is not the hard rule

The onus is on you to prove your work experience without any reasonable doubt.
Good luck
I agree too...

I also did not submit account details showing inflow from salary earned... I gave them only the reference letter...similar to what @Ednut said.

Just ensure the email address in the reference letter is valid and if possible, should not be @yahoo.com, cos if they need to conduct further check, they will most likely write to the address provided.
