I won't call it selfishness, but he does pick certain areas of the pitch to attempt assists from.

Whenever Lookman is on the byline, he'd make the cross, but when he's facing the goal, he'd hardly pass, and whenever he does make the pass he's looking for the return 1-2 that gives him a shooting opportunity. To be fair this is how he typically plays his game, and not something he's might be consciously looking to do.

It's these "selfish" decisions that he makes when within shooting distance that helps him create goals out of nothing, and it's also what makes him clash with Oshimhen who'd have created space expecting a pass. Both players just have to realize that the teams victory comes before everything else.
And nobody in the team presently hit the ball better than Lookman. Iheanacho was another SE player that was very good at that.

This is what happened...Bruno had a clear chance to pass the ball to Victor but wasted the opportunity, osimhen was complaining and shouting at him, then Lookman cautioned him to Keep calm and stop complaining he then faced Lookman and was pointing at him.

Now this is what I got for those making it an Osimhen vs Lookman issue.

I just saw the video, Osimhen was shouting "it's a team game, it's a team game" which is not bad. The only wrong thing is him walking off at full-time or strolling on the pitch as I've seen some people write here.

Again, I feel it was just emotions flaring up due to the good game we were having. Osimhen overreacted and acted weirdly, but spirit like this, channelled properly, is actually what we need to be a fierce team and not a lackadaisical one.

We don't have to be calm at all times, Osimhen was wrong to walk off at full-time, and he needs to channel his passion the right way so it doesn't keep sending the wrong message!

Fire for fire! Raise am, raise am, raise am!
VIVA NIGERIA! 🇳🇬
VIVA Victor Osimhen! ⚔️
VIVA Ademola Lookman! 🪄
As I have repeatedly said, Osimhen shouting was a non-issue to me, cos these are expected. But strolling on the field, stop making runs and asked to be subbed all because a team did not pass the ball to you 😏 it's sabotage, way overboard.

Okay, Lookman is selfish agreed . Does that warrant osimhen’s behavior today ?
Even fans at the stadium that always shout osimhen osimhen booed him when he was subbed off
Like Osimhen was booed by fans after scoring 2 goal. And someone watching on TV is defending such attitude.

thanks for this flashback, then I disliked JayJay, I'll always argue with people that Oruma was a better midfield. Cos Jayjay will turn and turn, aghahowa will make runs and come back like 4times before jayjay will pass 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂

Another fact that needs correcting:

Chelle didn't just unilaterally decide to sub off Osimhen, Victor asked to be subbed off.
You are correct, he got angry, stop making runs and asked to be changed.

His head is not correct. So many chances other players have created for him and he missed it,did anyone get in his face?.players can make mistakes and wrong decisions so what's the big deal. So because they didn't pass to you you decide to stop making runs and then ask to be substituted and now also storming off to the dressing room,is that acceptable behavior. He's not the only one that has emotions,he should manage it properly like any right thinking adult.
You see this part, is my issue with him, not the shouting and pointing fingers that others are talking about. After shouting at your teammates for not passing the ball to you, what next? And some are give excuses for that?

Like y'all have the drafts and are just praying he should do something wrong. He f***k up, we know, but all these "na why club no wan sign am," "he refused to play 2nd half against DR Congo" na rubbish talk.

He wants the best for the team, but showed it in a wrong way, can you just focus on that and leave takes that make you sound unwise?
Exactly what I expected from fans, including those looking for excuses for him or trying to bring in loookm into the scene.

I'll quote as many persons propagate this false narrative.

Again, Lookman had nothing to do with the play Osimhen was angry at, go watch it again. His grouse was with Osayi who decided to shoot instead of passing the ball (and that was the second time he was doing this). His issue with Lookman was because Lookman took exception to him getting in Osayi's face the way he did.

Lookman was many things in today's game, selfish wasn't one of them.
Thank God you observe how they're trying to rope Lookman in as the reason for Osimhen bad behaviour today. 🤦‍♂️

Abeg you guys should dump that on the thought. Lookman can be indecisive most time but saying he started releasing the ball quicker because Osimhen shout at him Is fabricated lie. Say Lookman dy fear Osimhen? 🙄

Osimhen is the most important player in this team.

He is always unselfish infront of goal. You recall the pass from Osimhen that Onuachu failed to convert b4 scoring via FDB assist.

Lookman should be more of a team player. We are grateful, he has a knack of assisting his team mates.

Akor's is understandable because he is yet to register a goal in this tournament.

This team needs a happy and motivated Osimhen.

They wouldn't have qualified without him.

He deserves some respect from his teammates.

We are yet to play Senegal and DR Congo, which I consider the best teams in the tournament.
I love Osimhen but I won't accept baby sitting and player, be you Messi. Lookman, Iwobi, Bassey are all as important in this team as Osimhen and

Tunisia almost did recently.... Tanzania too then there's civ in the final of the last Afcon or SA,Jamaica,Trinidad and Tobago,Gabon, Zimbabwe etc

Algeria and Drc definitely have the attacking capabilities, mentality and strength to fight back from 2 goals down especially against Nigeria defense
Since they have the attacking ability to fight back, they should wait for us to score two. The fight back makes the game more interesting.

They didn't...we scored first in all those matches irc so no

For you to find a match where Nigeria came from a goal or two down and won the game eventually..you'd have to go back nearly 6 or 7 years in time
why should Nigeria come from 2 goals down. Why should we allow our opponents score 2 goals before we start fighting back when we can score first 😳😳

Should Nigeria make it out against Mozambique....then quarterfinals is their likely bus stop....they can't match Algeria or drc in 90minutes and concede goals unlike the last Afcon

What Nigeria lacks is a comeback spirit....where you're two goals down against an under dog similar to Gabon v civ or France v Argentina but you believe that till the last minute, the game ain't over....that's the spirit that wins you tournaments

The super eagles have so far scored first in all of their Afcon fixtures in 2025....what would happen when drc or Algeria scores two first??

Can they comeback?
What will happen if Nigeria score DRC or Algeria 2 goals first, can they fight back?

🚨 AFCON explained in club terms — if you’ve never really watched the tournament. 👀

African nations compared to European clubs… and suddenly everything makes sense 😅⚽

🇲🇦 Morocco = Arsenal
No matter their level or form, we all know how the story usually ends.

🇨🇩 DR Congo = England
A team full of hope every single year. They always say, “This is our year”… but it never happens.

🇬🇭 Ghana = AC Milan
A huge name with great history and trophies, but they failed to qualify this time.

🇧🇫 Burkina Faso = Tottenham
No matter how well they play, don’t worry — they’ll lose a match they were never supposed to lose.

🇩🇿 Algeria = Borussia Dortmund
They win a title once in a while. Champions in 2019 — don’t expect another one anytime soon.

🇨🇲 Cameroon = Chelsea
Just when you expect them to win a trophy, they always pull off something unpredictable.

🇳🇬 Nigeria = Real Madrid
Plenty of stars, not always the most beautiful football, but they always find a way to win.

🇨🇮 Ivory Coast = Atlético Madrid
They’re always around, and you never know when they’ll win — but when it happens, it’s a real shock.

🇸🇳 Senegal = Manchester City
A strong team without much history. First title in 2022, followed by plenty of disappointments.

🇿🇦 South Africa = Marseille
One trophy won a very long time ago. Since then, they’ve been living in nostalgia.

🇿🇲 Zambia = Leicester City
The ultimate underdog. They won AFCON mainly with local players — and no one knows if it will ever happen again.

🇪🇬 Egypt = Barcelona
They once dominated African football with trophies and beautiful play, but today they struggle to win.

🇬🇦 Gabon = Galatasaray
They attend every AFCON for purely touristic reasons.

🇲🇱 Mali = AS Roma
They love participating in AFCON, fully aware they’re not going to win it.
i think Nigeria should be Bayern not Madrid with our near success syndrome, getting to the finals on numerous occasions but winning just 3. Egypt for me is the Madrid of Afcon.
