Politics / Brigadier Ogundipe A Hero Or Coward by zigam(m): 5:08pm On Mar 30, 2009
One wonder why Brigadier Ogundipe whom Ojukwu wanted to take over power after Late General Aguiyi Ironsi was killed did not do much to assume the responsibility of Nigeria leadership.

It was even a shock to hear that when Brigadier Ogundipe gave an order, a recruit told him “oga, abeg go relax joo.” The recruit did not carry his order – a General for that matter. Instead, Gowon and Ojukwu were busy giving order and counter order.

So, could it be that Ogundipe was not interested to rule Nigeria or it was an act of cowardice? Your comment please.

@Ilugunboy,

The kind of peace that was in Iraq when saddam Hussein was the President was characterised by fear. The Iraqis were living in fear because Saddam was a tyrant. Fear didn't let the people express themselves and it was manifested when Saddam was executed as you saw the people jubilating.
Foreign Affairs / Iraq: 35 Arrested Over Alleged Coup Plot by zigam(m): 9:43am On Dec 18, 2008
There are calls from many quarters that US should withdraw their troops from Iraq but no one has ever reasoned the implication of it. Any right thinking mind wonder what Iraq will be if US troops are suddenly withdrawn completely. To some, Iraq will entertain the whole world with war, coup and counter coup considering some flaws in its present military.

Though, we commend George Bush for his war effort in Iraq without which Iraq would have been a base for terrorists to strike other countries. Seeing Iraq now, do you think it is proper for US to withdraw their troops even in next 3 years?

Car Talk / Re: Traffic Violations In Lagos State Attract Ridiculous Fines by zigam(m): 9:27am On Jun 17, 2008
They are crazy to make such laws. They don't have your interest but to enrich themselves. The present Lagos State government has been busy since inception making things difficult for Nigerians living in Lagos. They were busy demolishing structures without making provision for those poor parents and youths who have people they take care. Now, what stops them from putting a relatively fine that can be paid without selling all you have.

Only BRT with less than 100 Buses occupied one straight lane, leaving millions of vehicles with 2 lanes, yet they punish any defaulter with a heavy fine that tries to avoid traffic hold-up and divert to BRT lane. Vehicles will queue-up on traffic and people sweating and suffering while BRT lane is free with no vehicle but no one dares to drive on that lane.

Let them come up with laws that will provide employment and bring food to the table of every Lagosian. You can't hear this kind of news except a mere propaganda.

@all,

The problem is that the girl in question don't like seeing me with any other girl and I have been avoiding other girls just to please her. Though, as some said here, she is still afraid if I will dump her and someone close to her told me this. However, I have no intention to dump her because I so much love her. If she will not get angry when I meet other girls, then I have nothing to complain.

The same point we are making. Your actions
might be the reason of her fear. Hit and run

Politics / Re: Plan To Have Lagos State Driving License Ahead by zigam(m): 5:41pm On May 20, 2008
Kobojunkie:

You are trying two completely unrelated things here. What has oil to do with licensese?? I mean we are speaking of driver's license here and not the oil. If other states have valid reasons to tax the oil companies more in their states, then they should go ahead and do it. If the laws are extreme, the companies can and should fight it. But Lagos is not tied to the waste of any other state and vice versa. Laws that do not make sense are supposed to be put down by the people and so people are made more effective in deciding the fate of their states. All good reasons why this should move forward if you ask me.

Now you are getting my point. We are discussing of Driver’s License and I’m shifting to oil. I believe some states will still shift or reason the way I do if they cannot see anything that will generate revenue for them. This is Nigeria. grin
Politics / Re: Plan To Have Lagos State Driving License Ahead by zigam(m): 5:25pm On May 20, 2008
Well, by using the word “selfish” is not meant to insult Lagos State government, but I was trying to say that such law may be an invitation to some obnoxious laws from other states. Those states can tell you that ecological problem, and fishery or farming due to oil spillage and these can be good reasons to justify their claims. Lagos State don’t suffer all these the way some states do and before you know it, you are in resource control and secession.
Politics / Re: Plan To Have Lagos State Driving License Ahead by zigam(m): 5:00pm On May 20, 2008
@Kobojunkie,

It will still cause trouble in Nigeria because Lagos State Government knows that there are more vehicles in Lagos State than any other states in Nigeria and that is why they are coming with this idea. They will generate more revenue than other states. To me, it’s a selfish idea. Remember, other states may now look for some areas they can generate more revenue and then come up with their new ideas.

Such as enforcing a law that every oil firm must register each oil well and such registration must be renewed on monthly, quarterly or yearly basis. Hope, you get it? Each state must look for a possible way of making money.
Politics / Plan To Have Lagos State Driving License Ahead by zigam(m): 4:03pm On May 20, 2008
Hope most of you have heard the move to have Lagos State Driving License?

I was just informed that soon any Driver within Lagos without Lagos State Driving License will have his or her vehicle impounded. Lagos State now put more emphasis on State Driving License all in the bid to generate more revenue. However, another school of thought has it that if Lagos State Government enforces such law, then Drivers with Lagos State Driving License should drive in Lagos State and state roads within Lagos State only. They went further to say that anyone caught with State Driving License on Federal Roads in Lagos State will also be forced to face the law i.e if the person is without Federal Driving License. Can this be possible in Nigeria? Hope, every Driver should be prepared to have 36 Driving Licenses because every state will come up with such law.

Family / Why Most Ladies Wants Their Mothers-in-law Dead? by zigam(m): 4:19pm On Apr 28, 2008
I still can’t get it because the topic is mind-boggling but it’s real, we can’t deny it, we have seen some ladies discussing it. One wonders why most ladies wants their mothers-in-law dead before they get married or immediately after they get married to avoid cat and dog wrangle. If you belong to this vile class, it means your own mother is not free because once your brothers get married their wives must without doubts pray for her death. Notwithstanding, some smart ladies know how to play the game well wining the hearts of their fathers-In-law. A particular lady likes using this strategy: She always buys some hot drinks and Beer for her father-in-law.

As a result of it, the man loves her dearly. So, once everybody is out from the house, this lady will trouble her mother-in-law seriously though the mother-in-law sometimes start the trouble and they will be quarreling until the man comes back home and ask what it is again. His own wife will try to explain but the man will say “my wife don’t talk, my daughter-in-law talk” The wife will insist to explain first but the man will maintain his position “I said, my wife don’t talk, my daughter-in-law talk.” Once his daughter-in-law finish explaining, the man will turn against his wife and will not allow her narrate her own story. All because of the Beer and hot drinks. The woman realizing the trick now warned her daughter-in-law not to buy drinks for her husband again. The lady went and told her father-in-law, honestly, had it not been the intervention of his son and relatives, the man would have sent his wife packing just for telling his daughter-in-law not to buy Bear for him again. There are many strategies smart ladies apply but all boils down to the same point that most ladies wants their mothers-in-law dead. Why?
Family / For Mature Ladies And Gents by zigam(m): 6:47pm On Apr 21, 2008
I have tried in vain to find out why precedence is given to male children than their female counterparts in Africa but no convincing explanations. I have seen a man that got the news of his wife safe delivery but the person that brought the news to him failed to state the sex of the new born baby. When the man rushed home and saw people dancing and celebrating and he was full of joy but when he asked what sex, they told him “bouncing baby girl.” Immediately, the man frowned his face and replied “ I don’t want noise here, what did she born that no one has born before? Please, I don’t want any disturbance.” Then, people were shocked at this while the man went inside his room and refused to come out.

To you all in the house, what is that special thing why male children are needed more than their female counterparts? Does it mean that female children cannot take good care of their parents without male children?

Please, your good advice can save a particular family right now because there is a problem going on now and what I gather here will be used to advise the concerned family.
Religion / Re: Pope Is 'Deeply Ashamed' Of Pedophile Priests by zigam(m): 5:40pm On Apr 21, 2008
cgift:

zigam,

too many things are fundamentally wrong with the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) not just pedophile priests. Countless things. Where do we want to begin. I have always charged them, list the ten commandments of the bible as we have it in the RCC. Na lie! Dem go run. They wont tell you the truth. But let me limit it to the topic at hand. Their priests don't feel any form of corruption or sin when they infact commit these sexual sins. They are excused according to the great theologian and author, whom they have canonized and his books used in teaching the priests. They have legitimized sin only for the Priests whom at the same time they call creators of Jesus especially during the Eucharists. Priests? When you see one run! They are wolves in sheep's clothings!

This is not hatred. I have got nothing to gain by hating. I am just saying what is. People should not believe me. They should check it out for themselves. I beg catholics, (sincere ones at that) to understudy priests. Go to their library and see if you can see a book called the Dignitiy & Durties of the Priests. There you will see heresy! Corruption! what else?

Make i take cover i beg!

No, no Cgift, how could you say they have legitimized sin when their leader Pope felt ashamed?
Their Pope did not clap or encourage those Priests.
You see, you too must be careful because I have not seen any Catholic faithfuls or Priests that says sin is proper.
I have a lot of friends there who are good Christians and sometimes I worship with them because my wife to be is a Catholic.

I also have a lot of protestant friends who are good Christians.
In fact there was a crusade organised by Catholics and their Priests were outstanding that very day.
Their preachings were based in bible and they weren't interested in stage miracles or material things.
That's why I love them most. though they still have their own faults.
Besides, I still love some Protestant Pastors and the way they preach yet they still have their own faults.
Religion / Re: Pope Is 'Deeply Ashamed' Of Pedophile Priests by zigam(m): 4:43pm On Apr 21, 2008
Pope deeply ashamed?
I'm even ashamed too and I pray that Pope will carry his threats of dealing with the Priests involved to deter others.

Catholic Priests are not the only anointed men of God that commits this crime, it's also common among Pastors.
To be fair, the Priests are trying because for a young man to stay years without a woman is not all that easy.
They are human beings and so can fall but the problem is to fall and remain down.

I know a lot of good Catholic Priests and we should not condemn all because of a few.
Christians should stop fighting among themselves, be it Catholicism or Protestantism.
It's one Christian and no group should claim of being better than the other.
Protestants still have their own problems even worst if I may say.
Politics / Re: 8 Days From Abroad But Got Killed By One Chance by zigam(m): 3:14pm On Apr 21, 2008
RichyBlacK:

From your earlier comment:
Imani, I was attempting to resolve the irony!

My hypothesis is that the irony is a consequence of the demographic differences between the emigrants from Nigeria (invariably immigrants to other nations) and those domiciled in Nigeria.

4 Play's addition to my thesis is that apart from pre-selection (which has "intent to leave the country" as a necessary ingredient) and other "traits", the difference between the emigrants from Nigeria (who become immigrants in other nations) and their non-emigrant counterparts in Nigeria is further widened over time due to the constant influence of the societies they find themselves in. For example, the Nigerian who emigrated to the United States becomes used to the democratic institutions in the US, less tolerant of the kleptocractic style of government in Nigeria and more impatient at those residing in Nigeria for not "taking appropriate action" to deal with the problems. Many of these emigrants may use words like "barbaric", "timid", "chaotic", "crude", etc. to describe the Nigeria government and the people domiciled in Nigeria. On the other hand, those living in Nigeria may become more tolerant of widespread corruption; more patient with inefficient parastatals; more accepting of dilapidated infrastructure and injustice bothering on outright cruelty; and more used to gross actions induced by poverty and a sense of helplessness.

I have read through the posts with keen interest but there are certain points that caught my attention. How could Nigerians living in USA and some other European countries become impatient at those residing in Nigeria for not taking any appropriate action to deal with problems surrounding Nigeria when they have done nothing in response to those problems?

Those outside Nigeria should not feel separated from Nigeria simply because they are outside and for us to believe all your craps (no offense) they have to step in and make efforts toward solving those problems and by this we will see them as no-nonsense Nigerians they claimed they could be. Besides, Nigerians at home will respond when they have equipped their efforts with the tools and confidence to solving Nigeria problems.

It's not enough to say how impatient they are and accuse those at home, but they need to know how important it is to act. So, when they start working on a problem never them think about those at home. Let them only think about how to solve the problem. But when they have finished, if the solution is not realized, they know they have contributed and we will applaud them.
Politics / 8 Days From Abroad But Got Killed By One Chance by zigam(m): 6:13pm On Apr 17, 2008
(One chance rubbed and pushed him out from the bus and a coming vehicle crushed him). He was on his way to making contacts for quick clearing of his goods.

If cry and tears could bring back a dead person, my friend’s brother would be alive at this moment. It was on Tuesday, 15th April, 2008, just 2 days ago when the shocking news came. My friend’s phone rang and he happily picked the call but the message was “Please, do you know someone called Casmir’?” (His ID Card identified him). ‘Yes, I know him and what happened?’ my friend queried! “Your attention is needed immediately and besides you have to do something to save your brother’s life.” “How? I can’t get you.” But the caller again said “come to so so so place your brother had an accident.”

Immediately, his mother, brothers, sisters and friends rushed to see their lovely brother who just returned from abroad (the mother nearly naked herself as she was not herself upon hearing the news) but on getting there they could not see him because he had been taken to the hospital where he died after crying ‘please, help me, please, help me’ but the help was not rendered because the Doctor and the Nurses dumped him on the floor hence no money before any treatment could go on (according to the eye-witness). When they got there, the police and the hospital demanded N35,000 before they can release the body.

May I ask, which type of country is Nigeria and why is the country this way?

Spraying! Spraying!!  All is just “notice me syndrome” of how Nigerians place wealth above other things.  Is there anything wrong if you walk up to the couple(s) on that wedding day and handover your money behind closed-door?  Must everybody notice how long you have been spraying the Naira?

A great deal I will say that KSA displayed backward mentality, I must also add that the greatest abuse our Naira suffer is its valueless and pointless looting by our heartless leaders.
