2. They have devided Nairaland into executive segments. They have groups and offices where they attends to their special applicants with old visa process ideas.

4. They have misled many many applicants on NL. For example , that braggart @fearlessfang will usually ask visa applicants to not take documents to the embassy. He will also claims that you don't need that invitation letter and bank statement as if he works inside embassy.

5. Nairaland authorities should look at the activities of these old school characters . They usually turn all discussion into bigmarism and bigwomanism discussions.

My advise for all those struggling in UK who cannot get a job with their Nigerian B.Sc or M.Sc is to get a UK Degree.

You can go back to University for a second M.Sc or even B.Sc.

And you will just pay £4000 as Tution fee becos they give a very huge discount.

You do not have to pay £15000-19000 as an International student.

All courses are available.

No IELTS
Just WAEC.
No Proof of Funds.

And the best part is you study online.

That's what most immigrants are doing now.

1. I know more than everything you have stated up there and personally i have processed more than 25 successful PhD admissions (USA and Canada) in the span of my career/ activities as an admission and visa counselor.

2. I read that lot of the year 2024 UTME candidates failed to meet up with the required 200 cut off points. Same goes to WAEC and NECO poor performances.

3. Although, there are many playful students and the emergence of social media's affected and still affecting the teenagers , but the background cause is the idea of some schools that usually waived the primary 5-6 classes for pupils (on the grounds that they are outstanding students) and make them write the Common Entrance examination straight into Junior Secondary Schools.

4. On getting to JSS classes, some parents and teachers would bring up the (Jumping fence / Fast-Tracking ) ideas again that , look this students are outstanding, let them write GCE from SSS1/2 and also write UTME straight away. Thereby, omitting SSS3 and straight to the Universities when their mates are still writing WAEC.

5. The above narrative is my personal experiences and observations. The idea to use an opportunity of waiver is good but few Nigerians usually will over use the opportunity to the state of counter-productives .

6. Waiving Msc to apply for direct PhD is good for matured applicants , waiving primary 5 and 6 classes is good for disabled kids who are outstanding, waiving sss2 and 3 applies to same set of outstanding, disabled and not-well- to do background students .

7. Supporting jumping or cutting corners has turned 55% of Nigerian youths into Fast-Paced Personalities. They want millions while still in Secondary Schools. They want to buy Bugatti Veyron (car) while still in the University . It gives the idea of Impatient Generation .

1. If your friend is about to attend her F1 interview and she still has 1 week interval. Then let her quickly fill another DS 160 form and discard the old one .

2. After the filling , log in to her cgi portal and click on update-profile, clears off the old Ds 160 number and type the new number and save then log out of the cgi.

3. Afte 3 days , log in back to her cgi portal and click on Appointment, she should download and print another appointment letter .

4. The new printed appointment letter will contain (automatic update after 3 days) the new DS 160 numbers .

5. She should attend her F1 visa with the new appointment letter and the new ds 160 printout . By this , her appointment letter and ds 160 carries same information. DS 160 is of utmost important , she should go fill another one . Don't wait for embassy !

An MBA is a useless generic degree. The only way to get any value from an MBA program is to attend any of the prestigious MBA programs. The ones I listed are among the best in the world. You asked for the best and I gave you a list that mirrors that. Be thankful.

Here to my story, I applied to 8 schools for computer science Msc( about 5) and software engineering (3 schools). I got 4 outright rejection which I believe was due to my background, a lot of those schools want some kind of foundation CS courses which are missing in my transcripts. I tried to write a good SOP and leverage on my work experience but I think CS is probably too competitive.
The 5th school rejected me but referred me for admission in Informatjon science.

Schools I got rejections from:
NYU- computer science
Missouri S and T
Michigan Tech
Uni of Virginia

Then I got admission from 3 schools:
Northeastern uni- no funding
Stevens institute of tech (SIT) - 17k funding
Uni of New Haven- 20% funding (amount to like 8k)
I am thinking of going ahead with SIT but the total COA is 65k ( 44k tuition and 17k living expenses, another 3k+ insurance ). I am supposed to have make the admission deposit and request for I-20 but I would like to ask if I have a good chance of getting my visa approved with a deficit of about 38k.
Do you guys think I should reapply again next year and hope for better funding ( I am not so sure much would change in my profile cos I’ll still be applying for CS). I need honest advice.

It will be almost impossible to get an MS in Computer science even if your bachelors was in Computer science.

What branch of computer science interest you? You can get into a Masters in Machine Learning, Information systems, Systems Engineering, Data analytics or Industrial Engineering more easily than MSCS.

No one cal say if your visa will be approved or not. You can try if you are sure you can genuinely afford the fees of the school you choose.

Did you mean to say Tufts University in MA? I have not heard of Truft University before today but maybe it truly exists. If your sister insists it is Trufts, ensure that it is a SEVP-certified school and ensure it is not a fake university. Below is the DHS link to SEVP-certified schools. Trufts is not listed. Maybe she means Tufts which is well=known.

There have been instances of fake universities with names similar to well-known ones with the goal of preying on international students.

A payment of any amount before a GA offer or I20 issuance is not common. It is not the norm despite what anyone says. Showing financial documents before your I20 is issued is the norm. People on this thread have received I20 forms on this thread and none of them paid anything before they received their I20.

If you look back a few pages on this thread, there are folks who have been offered GAs/TAs/RAs and nobody has mentioned paying for information for any of these positions.

If you have $300 and want to take a chance, then by all means pay it. Otherwise look for another school.

A university that is willing to give you 40% off tuition should not be trying to shake you down for $300.

I have no idea about the school but it isn’t uncommon for some schools or program to require deposits especially in CS/DS/ML/AI MS programs. My friend got into Columbia University for MS in Quantum science and Engineering and the required non refundable deposit was $4000. $4000!!! Which had to be paid 2weeks after they received the admission letter.

All these universities requesting for official transcript, how many times are we going to disturb our universities? Plus how quick will they send it. Why not use student copy and later request for official copy. Na wa oooo

Just Thursday last week, there was a report of a student using another person’s credentials to study in the US. I wonder why transcripts and certificates do not have the face of the original owner on them.

Wow, also applied for the PhD Biomedical science program. It's seems all hope is lost , ETSu is the last school I am expecting their admission decision.

The program coordinator said that they are admitting only 7-10 graduate students.

Hello, I just got a graduate assistantship at Lamar University too. Unfortunately, it doesn’t waive tuition. Just provides instate tuition which is around 4k usd per semester and 12kusd stipend. Is this the same offer you got?

I am about applying for an OPT-Stem extension. Is it advisable to go to Canada for a visa renewal at this time as I have only 3 months left on my current EAS card? Has anyone been in this situation?

I’m sorry for your loss.

But I won’t risk it. You have OPT status that’s almost ended but no F1 visa so you can’t get a new F1 stamp. Reentering will be at the discretion of the CBP Officer.
