OLAADEGBU: All I need to do is to use the laws of logic and the laws of science to debunk your myths and arrive at the scientific evidence that there has to be a Creator God.

There are only three possibilities from where the universe can come from and by way of elimination I will arrive at the scientific evidence of the origin of the universe which took just 6 days.

(1). The universe created itself; or

(2). The universe has always existed, or

(3). The universe was created.

1. The universe created itself:

Can something create itself? Can nothing create something? The answer to these is an absolute No. We all know that something cannot create itself and nothing can't create something. From Latin we have the phrase "ex nihilo, nihil fit" meaning "from nothing, nothing comes." It also violates the law of cause and effect, that says for every effect there must be a cause. The effect can't be greater than the cause and nothing cannot be greater than something. Therefore, based on the laws of science and logic, the universe couldn't have created itself. That leaves us with options 2 and 3.

2. The univese has always existed:

Lets go to the 2nd law of thermodynamics that basically teaches that "the whole universe is losing usable energy for doing usable work." This means that the usable energy in this universe is wearing down. The universe as a whole is losing energy. In other words, molecules as a whole are slowing down.

Therefore, if this universe was eternal we will be in what is called a "virtual heat death." This means that there will be virtually no molecular movement. Everything would have lost its available heat energy for doing work. Therefore, the universe cannot be eternal, it must have had a beginning. The theory that the universe has always existed or is eternal has to be false based on the law of science and logic, another speculation gone with the air. This leaves us with only one possibility based on science. Which is that:

3. The universe was created:

"In the Beginning God created the heaven and the earth." -- Genesis 1:1

Science confirms the biblical verse that in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth as I have just proved. With the above verse we see that God is outside time. He is eternal, with no beginning or end. He also knows all things, being infinitely intelligent. To recognise His handiwork, you should be able to know how to recognise the evidence of the works of His intelligence. This is simple.

When I look at a building, how do I know that there was a builder? I can't see him, hear him, touch, smell or taste him. The evidence of a builder is the building I'm looking at. In other words, the building is the proof positive that there was a builder. The building is the product of the intelligence of the builder. Living things are also evidence of design. Wouldn't it be logical to assume that if man's highly intelligent brain designed the computer, then the human brain was also the product of design?

There is nothing illogical or unscientific about an Eternal Being who has always existed. Nobody created the infinite God. He is the Self-Existent One, the great "I AM THAT I AM" of the Bible. He is outside time because He created time. Everything that has a beginning requires a cause. The universe has a beginning and thus requires a cause. But the almighty God has no beginning since He is beyond time. Therefore, the almighty God does not need a cause.

See -> www.EvolutionVsGod.com <--
The almighty god has no beginning? He is beyond time? Extraordinary!
But such a claim/statement would require an extraordinary evidence as well. What evidence do you have for the above claim?
Nairaland GeneralThe 1986 And 2014 Calenders Are Same by Zikdik(op): 10:00pm On Jan 03, 2014
You could be
forgiven for having consigned it
to the rubbish bin a decade or
two ago.
But if you do still happen to have
a 1986 calendar lying around,
you’re in luck. Because while the
vintage pictures may seem a little
out of date, the dates themselves
will match up perfectly with the
year ahead.
The dates of 1986 are exactly
aligned with the dates of 2014 –
so anyone who does discover a
dusty 27-year-old calendar in the
cupboard will find it is a perfect
fit all over again.
And the overlap has provided
inspiration for calendar makers,
who have started reprinting
photos from the 1980s in
celebration of the event.
Instead of shooting a new
calendar for this year, bosses at
Pirelli decided to release an
unpublished set of pictures by
prolific fashion photographer
Helmut Newton, intended for the
year 1986.
The idea has also caught the
imagination of plenty of internet
users, with 1986 calendars
popping up for sale on websites
such as eBay.
One Baywatch-inspired swimsuit
calendar from the 80s changed
hands for almost $50 (£30), while
a wrestling one featuring Hulk
Hogan was listed for $21.95
(£13.25) and a limited edition
Steiff Teddy Bear Collection
calendar was up for grabs priced
at $20 (£12).
Last night more than 300 other
calendars from 1986 were listed
for sale as more people rushed
to get in on the craze – or
perhaps just clear out their
cupboards.
But while the matching of dates
across years seems unusual, it
actually is not that rare an
occurrence.
Calendars from 1997 and 2003
will also prove a perfect fit with
this year’s dates.
And if you’re the type to plan
ahead, 2014 calendars will work
for 2025 – which may come as
some comfort to fans of Sir Cliff
Richard, who last month
announced that his 2014
calendar would be his last.
Sir Cliff is believed to have sold
more than 1.5million calendars
over his career and regularly
features in the top ten lists, but
says they have become too much
‘pressure’ as he gets older.
The 2014 calendar shows the
73-year-old wearing cowboy
boots perched on the bonnet of
a car and walking down railway
tracks with a guitar on his back.
Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams
and Gary Barlow all also feature
in Amazon’s top ten best-selling
calendars for 2014.

Christianity EtcA Very Interesting Verse Of The Bible. by Zikdik(op): 3:03pm On Dec 29, 2013
Genesis 6:3:
And the LORD said, My spirit shall
not always strive with man, for
that he also is flesh: yet his days
shall be an hundred and twenty
years.
- King James Bible "Authorized
Version", Cambridge Edition
This is a very interesting verse of the Bible. Here, man is clearly given a limitation. He cannot live past the age of one hundred and twenty. Isn't it however remarkable that quite a number of people now live well past and above that age? Or, has god pushed that age limit a bit further? Hence, wouldn't it be logical to conclude that the current bible is archaic and needs updating? Is there any other christain interpretation of this verse that my carnal mind cannot comprehend? (even though it looks quite straight forward enough).
Do share your thoughts.
Christianity EtcRe: Atheists And Christians Come In... by Zikdik(m): 9:39am On Dec 29, 2013
Beehorn: who told you Jesus wasn't given birth to through human copulation?
Joseph(Jesus' earthly father) was the one who donated the remaining 23 chromosomes in question here, through human copulation.
Jesus became a human being just like us in order 2 redeem humanity. His day- to-day activities remind us that he is also a human being like us.But,when we behold the mighty miracles and his ability to forgive sins,we have to acknowledge that he stepped into the areas normally left for God alone.Sorry 4 d long epistle.
Nah. Mary is supposed to be a virgin. If Joseph popped her cherry, that explains the chromosomes but proves that the character, "Jesus", was born through "sin", with "sin", and is very much human.
If it was the holy spirit that popped it, that begs the question once again, where did the other half of his chromosomes come from?

Christianity EtcRe: Where Do Atheists Get Their Morality From? by Zikdik(op): 8:54pm On Dec 28, 2013
aManFromMars: There's no objective morality. So why would anyone expect atheists to form a general view of morality?

Morality differs from society to society. Anyone(atheist, christian, muslim) bases their morality based on the laws and general conduct of people in his environment. For the Christian, these laws may be superseded by the Holy Book(his own interpretation of course). The Muslims prefer Sharia law where ever they are a majority.

Whether false or true, these religions give a structure to fall on in times of moral dilemma for the believers. What moral basis does the atheist have?

It is important to note that the direct opposite of atheism is theism, not religion, be it Christianity, Islam or Pagan. A theist may decide to advance any of the religious gods and their moral booklet if he so wishes.

In most cases, the atheist advances humanism, which is simply behaving decently without expectation of rewards or punishment after you are
dead.
Apt intelligence. You just summarized the whole article.
Christianity EtcRe: Where Do Atheists Get Their Morality From? by Zikdik(op): 8:51pm On Dec 28, 2013
Ogbologbo: Please sir, your morality seems to be limited to social behavior. What about such moral imperatives like 'work hard'. It is better to work hard than to be lazy.

It is better to keep fit than to be fat and unhealthy.

Or then again what about moral imperatives that are anti-social. Eg. Be smart and cheat, rather than stupid and be cheated. This one is common here in nigeria. If you get into office and you don't steal people will laugh at you. You had your chance and you were too stupid to take advantage. Your townspeople will even end up despising you.
Sir. Your first issue in respect to morality is "nol prosequi". Hard work and laziness are relative.
Also, cheating as a way of being smart does not conform with social standards. It is criminal. Whether the society accepts it or not does not make it any more or less so.

Christianity EtcWhere Do Atheists Get Their Morality From? by Zikdik(op): 11:35am On Dec 28, 2013
Many religious believers seem to
think that they can stump any
atheist by demanding to know
where morality comes from. If
God doesn’t exist, who is the
divine law giver? This question
actually answers itself. If there is
no God, then there isn’t a divine
law giver. This leaves many
religious believers scratching
their heads wondering where
atheists get our morals from.
Of course, I contend that atheists
get our morals from the same
place religious believers get their
morals from (most of the time). I
know this might come as a shock
to some religious believers, but
you don’t get your morals from
God or the Bible.
Unfortunately, it turns out that
many atheists don’t know where
our morals come from either and
so I thought I would do my best
to explain where we are in moral
philosophy today in this quick
summery. However, the field of
ethics is rather large and usually
has a full bookshelf or more
devoted to it in most libraries
and bookstores so I encourage
people to go and read some of
the books on those shelves to
get a better understanding of
moral philosophy. There are
plenty of introduction to ethics
books there too. This is just a
short answer to the question.
One of humanities evolutionary
adaptations which have helped
us to survive and thrive is our
ability to work together in
groups. It is unlikely that you
would be able to find a person
who is completely self-sufficient.
Everything we have in our
society, we have because we are
able to work together. Because
humans are complex creatures,
we need rules to help us deal
with the complexities of
cooperative living. This is the
beginning of morality.
The social contract is a tacit
agreement between everyone in
the community to help us work
together. While this social
contract is great at first glance, it
is not sufficient. What happens
when those who make the social
contract do so to favor their own
interests rather than the
interests of those with less
power?
Enter the concepts of fairness
and justice. These concepts arise
out of our sense of empathy and
compassion. We have evolved to
the point where we can imagine
what it is like to be in someone
else’s situation. We wouldn’t
want to be treated unfairly
ourselves, so when someone else
is being treated unfairly, we
generally feel compassion
toward them.
We know from past experience
and from reasonable
suppositions that certain actions,
attitudes, and/or rules are not
helpful in advancing the
wellbeing of both individuals and
for society as a whole. When
rules are unfair, the people who
are treated unfairly tend to feel
resentment and that resentment
isn’t helpful to society as a whole.
It goes without saying that it
isn’t helpful for the individuals
either.
It is important to note that
morality doesn’t exist in a
vacuum. If there were no
sentient creature (or only one)
then there would be no need for
morality. While to some extent it
can be argued morality is a
human construct, it would not be
accurate to claim that morality is
made-up out of whole cloth at
our relativistic whim.
Morality is simply our
understanding of cause and
effect coupled with our desire
for the wellbeing of society and
individuals in society. Those
desires are born out of our sense
of empathy and compassion for
others. No deities involved.
