It does not occur to you that there are only two ways to heal the economy of Nigeria battered by corruption and ineptitude. We either go through the pains of making our environment attractive to foreign direct investment so we can have the dollar in plentiful play in our economy (macro economic reforms) or locally build our economy through strong manufacturing initiatives. The latter is a pipe dream considering the presence of corruption in our space which has robbed us of the needed electric power and security. The world is now looking our way with the three-year-plus effort to woo foreign direct investment via economic reforms. Tinubu needs another four years to have the reforms translated into micro benefits to the ordinary Nigerian. To have a different driver in the saddle will put to waste all already achieved in that direction. Vote wisely.

Tinubu has never lost an election so we have no history of calling anybody betrayal after the election. The goal for us is to win the election and not to celebrate the number of states won. Celebrating the numbers of states won after losing the election is for pretenders like Atiku and Peter Obi.

Bola Tinubu will get the highest number of valid votes and still get 25% or more of total vote cast in 30 states. He will be declared the winner just the same way it happened in 2023. The pretenders can take over with the media theatrics after the contender has won the election.

Interestingly the Governors will be the ones to mount the campaign stage to ask that their people vote Tinubu and that goes a very long way! Kano and North-West votes are needed for the volume they represent and Ganduje is strategically tasked with engaging the stakeholders in the North to make that happen. Before now the opposition and their deluded supporters said things like - "Governors alone cannot guarantee victory in their states"- it does not occur to them that they are sure to at least guarantee 25% of the votes in their states for Tinubu. They will wake up to reality in 2027 February.

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has appointed Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, as his new Chief of Staff following the resignation of his predecessor, Segun Ogunwuyi.

The appointment was announced on Monday, October 12, 2026, in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde. The new appointment takes immediate effect.

Akinwole previously served as chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission. He is a grassroots politician from Ogbomoso, the same hometown as Ogunwuyi.

Alongside the appointment, Makinde named Mrs Aderonke Adedayo as Director-General of the state's Due Process Office. Adedayo, who currently serves as Special Adviser on General Intervention and Donor Agencies, will retain her existing position while taking on the additional responsibility.

The appointments followed Ogunwuyi's resignation earlier on Monday. In his resignation letter, dated October 12, he said his decision took immediate effect and expressed gratitude to Makinde for the opportunity to serve the government and people of Oyo State.

Ogunwuyi, a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives, did not publicly state any political disagreement as the reason for his resignation.

The departure comes amid the recent exits of several political appointees from the Makinde administration. However, no official reason linking Ogunwuyi's resignation to the wider political developments has been established.

Governor Makinde congratulated the new appointees and urged them to discharge their responsibilities with loyalty, commitment and dedication to public service.

Mrs Kikelomo Atanda-Owo Abati (the wife of Dr Reuben Abati) celebrated her 20th anniversary in the media industry, but the event has been overshadowed by a clash between Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa and Mr Rufai Oseni.

Mrs Dabiri-Erewa was on stage and talking about responsible journalism when she recounted an issue that developed on Twitter.


“In terms of journalism, there’s no talk about irresponsible journalism. Yes, I’m on Twitter . I hear a lot of things,” Dabiri said.

She said that someone with the Twitter handle Voice of Igbos had a habit of insulting her. She investigated the handle and discovered that it was run by a person named Stephanie who lived in Surulere.

She said that the person attacked her and another person replied and she (Abike Dabiri-Erewa) replied with a smiley emoji.

She said that Rufai Oseni interpreted her response as an endorsement of an offensive reference to the Igbo ethnic group. “Somebody replies to her. Then I do a smiley. And then Rufai Oseni comes and says, Abike Dabiri calls everybody — Igbos — monkeys and gorillas,” she said.

“So that is irresponsible. And then it went viral. Even though I didn’t say Igbos.”

Dabiri said journalists must exercise greater restraint and responsibility, particularly when interpreting or amplifying statements made online.

“We have to ensure that you hold people responsible, but you must be responsible yourself. So we will not accept irresponsible journalism. For you to hold any government official responsible, you must be responsible,” she said.

“And let me tell you, some journalism is going to the dogs. There’s no journalism anymore. There are no standards. There are no values.

“The journalists that we were trained [by] are going to the dogs. There must be values. There must be standards. And not everybody is a journalist, please. That profession is destroyed.”

Rufai Oseni, who was in the audience, said something while Mrs Dabiri-Erewa was speaking but it was not audible because he had no microphone. Mrs Dabiri-Erewa then stood up and raised her voice.

The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has published the names and photographs of 24 Nigerians arrested by immigration authorities in connection with various criminal offences, as the country continues its deportation operations.

The individuals were arrested in different parts of the United States by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), according to information released by DHS.

The offences listed against them range from wire and mail fraud to money laundering, drug-related crimes, identity theft, assault, forgery and cruelty towards a child.

In a statement announcing the arrests, DHS said the publication was intended to highlight non-US citizens with criminal records who had been apprehended by immigration enforcement officers.

“The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is highlighting the worst of worst criminal aliens arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE),” the department said.

It added: “Under DHS leadership, the hardworking men and women of DHS and ICE are fulfilling President Trump’s promise and carrying out mass deportations – starting with the worst of the worst – including the illegal aliens you see here.”

This man is at sea! Every smart Nigerian knows that after the 2027 presidential elections in Nigeria it will next be the turn of the North to have the Presidency for another eight years. That is one big reason why the North will not vote Atiku as to do so will jeopardise the Zoning arrangement and the chances of younger and more capable Northerners who want to contest the Presidency post-2027. Tinubu is set to back a Northern successor and Nuhu Ribadu is getting ready. He has the pedigree and the trajectory putting him in an advantageous position for the Presidency in 2030. As for Makinde, he is a joker! The North knows that it is wiser in 2027 to support the most influential Southern Presidential candidate so they can have the overwhelming support the Northern Presidential candidate will need from the south in 2030 when it is the turn of the North. Makinde lacks a basic understanding of the mindset of the typical Northern Nigerian who is very big on loyalty and sees Makinde as one who betrays "his Yoruba brother"! The North will not support such a character especially as they know that if he could betray a Yoruba brother playing the spoiler it would be nothing for him to betray the North when they need his political support for whatever it is worth!
