This man is at sea! Every smart Nigerian knows that after the 2027 presidential elections in Nigeria it will next be the turn of the North to have the Presidency for another eight years. That is one big reason why the North will not vote Atiku as to do so will jeopardise the Zoning arrangement and the chances of younger and more capable Northerners who want to contest the Presidency post-2027. Tinubu is set to back a Northern successor and Nuhu Ribadu is getting ready. He has the pedigree and the trajectory putting him in an advantageous position for the Presidency in 2030. As for Makinde, he is a joker! The North knows that it is wiser in 2027 to support the most influential Southern Presidential candidate so they can have the overwhelming support the Northern Presidential candidate will need from the south in 2030 when it is the turn of the North. Makinde lacks a basic understanding of the mindset of the typical Northern Nigerian who is very big on loyalty and sees Makinde as one who betrays "his Yoruba brother"! The North will not support such a character especially as they know that if he could betray a Yoruba brother playing the spoiler it would be nothing for him to betray the North when they need his political support for whatever it is worth!

I have been talking about this since yesterday. This aircraft is Nigeria's premium intelligence, reconnaissance and surveillance asset. But the Airforce converted such a sensitive plane into a passenger plane against service rules.

An ISR plane should never have been used for carrying passengers. The question here is, was the Airforce charging people who flew this plane? If so, who was the money being paid to? Did the Nigerian civil aviation authority permit this plane to be used to carry passengers?

For those who don't know, this plane was the airborne command centre for operation Lafiya Dole and Operation Hadin Kai in the war against terrorists in the north east. The plane is equipped with advanced sensors and surveillance equipment for monitoring electronic communications of terrorists and their movements. This is the plane that provides fighter jet pilots and military units on the ground with information about terrorist locations, movements and logistic hubs. The alpha jets we still fly, rely heavily on information the ATR-42MP provides for strike locations.

We can now understand how terrorists can attack Nigerian army bases without their advance being spotted. The plane the Airforce should be using to monitor them, is being used to carry VIPs and passengers around. The commanding officer of 81AMG Benin, where this plane was based, needs to be sanctioned.

Using an ISR plane to carry passengers and VIPs is a gross abuse and flagrant unprofessionalism. It will take years before another one can be made available. The company that makes this plane has a backlog of orders. So in effect, Nigeria's fight against terrorists has suffered a serious setback.

Thanks to you for this knowledge sharing. It is not impossible that there are civilians hitching a ride on the plane. Avoid hitching rides on military planes as you could die without insurance compensation for your family.

And you will save Rivers State money in a bank in which your family has interests! You just associated yourself with a fraud!

While I do not hold brief for Dangote I am well aware that the international price of crude has gone up because of the Iran-US war and the approach of winter in Europe and that will impact the price at which he sells since crude is not sold to him in Naira. All considered I expect Dangote to be patriotic in determining his margins. You must also consider that petrol is smuggled to neighbouring west-african countries who will prefer that to buying from Dangote at international prices.

A govt that believes more import license is the best way to curb monopoly, using importation as competition to local refinery ..

Just imagine what Atiku is proposing Govt switch to subsidize local crude production, lower price from locals will make Importation unviable, many will want to Merge n build there own refinery to compete

Nice. I agree that this government has been irresponsible in granting import licences to bring in petrol when it could have subsidised local crude production through the NNPCL in which it has controlling shareholding. Going that route might reduce NNPCL profit but it gives the much-needed succour to the people while we await the promised micro benefit of the macro improvement in the economy. Given the thieving and corrupt antecedents of Atiku I do not trust him to be able to do what he suggests in a manner that will not in the long run harm the country.
