Moddibo Umar,
has cleared the
air over the
genesis of the controversy
surrounding the
plot of land
allocated by the
FCT
Administration for the building
of the
continental
secretariat of
African First
Ladies Peace Mission (AFLPM)
saying that he
allocated the
plot to AFLPM in
2008. According to
Moddibo, who
served as
Minister of FCT
between 2007
and 2008, it was his successor,
Alhaji Adamu
Aliero, who
changed the
concept of the
land and re- allocated it to
Women and
Youth
Empowerment
Foundation
(WAYEF) belonging to
former First Lady,
Hajiya Turai Yar’
Adua two years
later. The former FCT
Minister made
the clarifications
in an interview
with the Hausa
Service of the Voice of America
yesterday. The
report was
monitored in
Abuja. According
to Moddibo, there was no
controversy
about it as the
land in question
was allocated to
AFLPM and a certificate of
occupancy (C of
0) prepared for
the Mission.

Turai was made the chairman in 2008, relected in 2010. In 2008, AFLPM agreed in their last congress to have their permanent sec in nigeria. A land indeed was allocated to AFLPM in 2008 but which land in particular? The said land could have been allocated to aflpm, turai thought of her NGO and realised she would require said land and decided to re allocate but again anythin could have taken place
If truly AFLPM were legal owner of the said land in the first place with evidence, to hel with turai and match to court and settle the issue once and stop spammin our newspapers with their problem.
