Ndigbo Won’t Revolt Against Jonathan In 2015 Said MASSOB by chucky234(m): 1:19pm On Aug 16, 2012 |
The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB has said it will continue to support the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan despite the pressure by some elements in the National Assembly to impeach him over alleged non-implementation of 2012 budget. The Ezeigbo Gburugburu, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike said though Ndigbo had suffered great casualty in the Boko Haram insurgency, but Jonathan’s support and solidarity for Ndigbo during the burial of the late Ikemba Nnewi, Dim Emeka Odimegwu Ojukwu did not go unnoticed and would forever remain evergreen in the minds of Ndigbo.Uwazuruike who succeeded Ojukwu as Ezeigbo, gave the assurance during the ‘Iri Iji’ festival of the Obi of Obinugu and Chairman of Southeast Traditional Rulers’ Council, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya in Obinugu, Orlu Council Area of Imo state, that South East would not join other zones in vilifying President Jonathan or involve in activities that would threaten the peace and security of the country during his tenure. “Jonathan is our brother from the neighboring South South region and he has shown commensurate respect for the Igbo Agenda and most importantly, the Igbo presidency will not be realizable without his support. We need to build synergy with our brothers in the South South to have a formidable front for the Igbo presidency agenda.” Condemning the recent calls for Jonathan’s resignation the, MASSOB leader maintained that the bombings in the North and killings of Ndigbo was a ploy to dismantle the current administration, adding that Ndigbo will not be swayed by any campaign of calumny against the President by any group of people, “Ndigbo is still a deciding factor in the peace and stability of the country and we will continue to resist attempts to drag us into mischievous and selfish agenda.” Also speaking, frontline politician and publisher of Champion Newspapers, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, blamed the current insecurity in the country on the desperation of a section of the country to remain in power at the detriment of other sections of the country. He said every zone in the country had equal right to the presidency of the country and should not be seen as the exclusive reserve of any particular people, adding that the present administration had done well in managing the security situation in the face of sabotage and deliberate attempts to frustrate the administration. Iwuanyanwu, while urging Igbos to be courageous in any part of the country they were, however, warned that the Federal Government would be held accountable for the destruction of property of Ndigbo in the northern parts of the country during and after the civil war, “when the civil war ended, the government told us that there was no victor and no vanquished but the genocide and destruction of property of Ndigbo continued and the same thing is repeating itself again and we will hold the government accountable.” LINK: www.sunnewsonline.com/new/politics/2015-jonathan-only-problem-to-igbos-presidential-aspiration-dr-ikedife-ohanaeze-chieftain/ |
