The Bible is more accurate.
we can go round and round with atheist on this and never see eye to eye but the truth is that the scientific text book changes every few years.
The theory of evolution has never been proved so dont let your teacher teach you like its a fact because its not.
Science infact DOES change

The Bible is never wrong. Somethings are unprovable, and some things, like Genesis are often misunderstood, but it has never been proven wrong.
People say that science can explain everything, but all science can do is discover the laws which God used to make the Universe. And miracles acknowledge these laws. The whole concept of a miracle is that it is impossible without the power of God.

So how old is this planet according to the bible then 6 to 10'000 years? undecided While science give a more accurate description like 4 billion years

The Bible is not specific on when the Earth was formed.

The Holy Bible does not give any age of the earth. It does relate that God took seven 'days' to create the cosmos (the heavens and the earth) but that same book also tells us that 'a day is as a thousand years and a thousand years is as a day', so there really is no timeline for the creation.

Have you heard anything like "Day Age Theory", or "Gap Theory"(you will realise it is impossible to infer the age of the earth from the bible)

This answer (6 to 10'000 years) is obtained by tracing the genealogies that are given in the bible.

Despite what some people might claim The Bible doesn't mention any particular age. Rather, some people approximate one by an intrepretation they like to think is derived from a literal reading. As no age is specified, there's no difference to report.

@OP,this is not fair, your bible claims that the moon is a light which is false,it claims that the flood covered the mountains by up to 20 feet,as if all the mountains are the same height,it claims that fowls came out of the water(false).

There was a period when it was generally believed that the bible is more accurate than everything else. That period is largely known as the DARK ages.

Push the bible to one side and our minds open up to possibilities.

I guess Nigeria is going thru our own phase of "dark" age undecided

The Bible is a collection of stories and myths. Science is a tool we use to understand the universe we find ourselves. They cannot be compared.

Niflheim: the bible claims that there was evening and morning before the sun and moon were created(false)it claims that the sun stopped moving for josua(false,it does not move in the first place).

That was the understanding of the writer then. And that was what scientist taught in that generation. One the was clear . The sun stood still for a day. It is scientifically proven that a day is missing.

Science is not more accurate. A true science is confirmed by the bible. The bible never said the earth is 6,000 years old. There's evidence in the bible the earth is millions of years old

i find it strange you didnt quote that evidence seeing as you readily quote the bible at the snap of a finger

a day is missing from where?who scientifically proved it?do you know that the calendar we use today has 7 more days that the calendar that was used in the 4th century?do you know from the 3rd to the 6th century, the gregorian and julian calendar werent the same and the date for easter used to fall on different days on both calendars and so there used to be 2 easters in a year?it wasnt until the 2 calendars were unified that a universal calendar came to be.and that calendar is different from today's by 13 days

you seem to forget that the garden of eden was not in heaven so you analogy of a day been 1000years is bollocks.besides the bible said "and the evening and the morning were the .....day".god created the earth in 6 literal days i.e. 24 hours.

the best way to calculate the age of the earth based on the bible is to follow the genealogy from adam to the flood, from the flood to jesus and from jesus till date and according to that, the bible says the earth is 6000+ years old.personally,i think the gap theory is the only explanation christians can offer but suprisingly, christians dont even accept the gap theory

@joagbaje,so you are finally admitting that your bible was not inspired by god,but by the understanding of the illiterates at the time right?

To show u how inaccurate and basless the bible is, here is an example:
in revelation, John said he saw STARS fall from the sky to the earth.lol.

Mind u some stars are even bigger than the sun which is so many times bigger than earth.
So tell me how that is possible.

My friends pls start thinking and do not be limited to the circumstances of ur birth.
The bible is just a bunch of fairy tales by people limited to the undertanding of their time.

@inurmind,you are very correct, even the so called great christian apologetic c.s.lewis,said that the bible is a collection of myths!!!

"The Book of Job appears to me unhistorical because it begins about a man quite unconnected with all history or even legend, with no genealogy, living in a country of which the Bible elsewhere has hardly anything to say..." [page 110]..................the words of C.S.Lewis from his book-"Suprised by Joy"(1955)
Re: Is Science More Accurate Than The Bible? by Niflheim(m): 10:38am On Sep 15, 2012
"I have therefore no difficulty in accepting, say, the view of those scholars who tell us that the account of Creation in Genesis is derived from earlier Semitic stories which were Pagan and mythical. We must of course be quite clear what 'derived from' means. Stories do not reproduce their species like mice. They are told by men. Each re-teller either repeats exactly what his predecessor had told him or else changes it. He may change it unknowingly or deliberately.... ..............C.S.Lewis from the same book!!!
Re: Is Science More Accurate Than The Bible? by Niflheim(m): 10:39am On Sep 15, 2012
"We read in Genesis (2, 7) that God formed man of the dust and breathed life into him. For all the first writer knew of it, this passage might merely illustrate the survival, even in a truly creational story, of the Pagan inability to conceive true Creation, the savage, pictorial tendency to imagine God making things 'out of' something as the potter or the carpenter does...............................C.S.Lewis from the same book.
Re: Is Science More Accurate Than The Bible? by Niflheim(m): 10:42am On Sep 15, 2012
From the last sermon Lewis preached, "A Slip of the Tongue," in 1956. (Published in his 1962 book, A Weight of Glory). Notice the emphasis on spiritual growth through "moral theology, in steady rational thinking, in the advice of good friends and good books...." -- not through reading God's Word:

"We can become scrupulous or fanatical; we can, in what seems zeal but is really presumption, embrace tasks never intended for us. That is the truth in the temptation. The lie consists in the suggestion that our best protection is a prudent regard for the safety of our pocket, our habitual indulgences, and our ambitions. But that is quite false. Our real protection is to be sought elsewhere: in common Christian usage, in moral theology, in steady rational thinking, in the advice of good friends and good books, and (if need be) in a skilled spiritual director." 129-130
