Is it possible?

Depends on how you define "super world power."

Can you elaborate on what exactly you mean?
Re: Can Nigeria Ever Be Super World Power by Gbawe: 6:26pm On Sep 16, 2012
I think if we set out to be a Nation that ensures every man, woman and child can become the best they possibly can be, then everything else will come naturally. Great citizens create great Nations. As simple as that.

Indeed. I don't know why Nigerians obsess about being a "World power" when it is very obvious that this will never happen as long as we continue to deliberately reject using the resources of the Nation to make many more Nigerians relatively great people.

To become a world power, Nigeria should first produce more electricity and build more roads.

Yes we can. In the next 2,000 years.

We already are that powerful.

You do realise we can influence global oil prices merely by escalating tension in the Niger Delta?

We can,if we set our minds to it and shun greed and looting. We have the population, natural and human resources,we have the brains and everything a great nation can boast of. Yes,we can.

Hmm...like, top 10 influential countries, let's say?

Seems pretty unlikely. Nigeria is populated, but it isn't like an India or China who can influence the world through population alone.

Nigeria is economically weak, also (though growing at a pretty decent rate).

Unfortunately, I think things have for the most part already been decided.

We'd need some sort of game-changing event to become top dog (E.g., something on the level of Spain's acquisitions in the New World that briefly made it a top dog).

With that said, becoming a "pretty decent country" is probably achievable. Perhaps best to focus on that first before worrying about being a world power.

We have what it takes to become a world power. But unfortunately, we have world thieves eg Ibori, Bankole etc, so it will be very difficult for them to relinquish their tase for material things in order for us to achieve this feat.
Re: Can Nigeria Ever Be Super World Power by SisiKill1: 4:17pm On Sep 17, 2012
I don't understand the question.

I don't think OP finished the sentence. . .Can Nigeria ever be a Super World Power compared to Somalia. . .something along those lines

And even with sef. . one still has to be careful answering cause I here they are doing some good things in Somalia now. undecided
Re: Can Nigeria Ever Be Super World Power by Abujafood: 4:18pm On Sep 17, 2012
It's possible in probably 200 years time although none of us would be alive to know if my prediction is true!
Re: Can Nigeria Ever Be Super World Power by wowo2: 4:18pm On Sep 17, 2012
Methinks this is a question for the likes of GEJ and the people in power. Am not sure there answer will not be - We don't give a damn.

The ordinary man can only best govern his house.

Re: Can Nigeria Ever Be Super World Power by 2mch(m): 4:20pm On Sep 17, 2012
OP,

First nigeria will have to have goals and focus on this as their main objective. That means, little or no chopulation and being satisfied with your salary or the money you make from personal workshops and books. Now think about this for a second and come back to tell me your conclusion here.
Re: Can Nigeria Ever Be Super World Power by bittyend(m): 4:20pm On Sep 17, 2012
Highly impossible! We don't have what it takes to be a super power, but we can always be somewhere in between. Nigerians just don't have the cerebral capacity, bravery, and nationalistic mentality to pull it off.
Re: Can Nigeria Ever Be Super World Power by Skywalker5(m): 4:22pm On Sep 17, 2012
Na . Not until we see all tribes in Nigeria as one family and we work for development and not looting.
Re: Can Nigeria Ever Be Super World Power by emenim(m): 4:24pm On Sep 17, 2012
That will only happen when the world might have finally ended, or simply put in the next world to come if there is anything like that.
Re: Can Nigeria Ever Be Super World Power by mchenry(m): 4:25pm On Sep 17, 2012
We have what it takes and more. we just have to put it to good use
Re: Can Nigeria Ever Be Super World Power by 2million1(m): 4:26pm On Sep 17, 2012
Yes Nigeria can be, Nigeria is still a very young country, how old was america when she became world super power as to compare to Nigeria? All we need to do is eliminate the present crop of leaders like Ghana did, reset our mind set, start thinking positive thoughts, everybody working to achieve a goal for our country instead of our selfish individual goals and most importantly tolerating one another. And before we get to the age of america we'll be SUPERSONIC world power.
