I think OAM4J and Jarus are both decent moderators in the politics section. Frankly speaking moderating a section like this (politics), with a lot of spontaneous burst of extreme bigotry, and ethnicity is not cakewalk. Jarus would ordinarily appear much acceptable and fairer because you hardly see him jump into threads, let alone take sides. Hence, it's more difficult to assess him, especially in matters not connected with Sanusi Lamido of CBN. I suppose OAM4J is much younger and more exuberant, hence the tendency for his 'hyperactivity.' He might have aided one side of the ethnic divide (tactically or strategically) using his position, but you hardly see him take sides in the e-fights. Putting myself in his shoes, I think he has managed his responsibility fairly well. But if he needs to change, he certainly have a conscience to tell him so. But then this is CYBER! 4 Likes |

maclatunji is a pretty bad mod inventing new rules like non-muslims have to capitalize allah, or refer to allah as "God" when by definition that is something only a muslim will agree with He needs to be sacked and replaced with someone who isn't a douche 3 Likes |

Every single person that has moderated the Politics section get heaps of complaints!!! another thing about mods joining in discussions, most mod were just normal users, just because they are now mod you cant stop them from partaking in discussions and tehy should also have the right to strongly disagree with you as they would ordinarily (not with ban threats though -doubt very much mods actually threaten members with a ban) |

At a minimum, maclatunji should be made the junior mod of the islam forum, stripped of his ability to ban people and hide posts. Jarus for the most part is a reasonable fellow, without maclatunji's fascist tendencies. 5 Likes |

First, I must commend the mods for their jobs so far...Its not an easy task to keep tabs on people, most especially people who would go lengths to provoke the animal in you. So I believe they definitely deserve some credit. On the issue of unnecessary bans, they (the mods) should understand that nairaland is a cyber forum...therefore issuing bans based on personal and emotional reasons clearly exposes their immaturity and lack of professionalism. During the old days, seun could be likened to a military dictator...though Nairaland wasn't as populated as it is now, practically every out spoken member served a ban (myself inclusive). But with time he changed. He was transformed, he understood the meaning of "tolerance" . Finally, I would urge them (the mod) to learn from seun's transformation. They should learn how to tolerate people, because people would keep offending you. They should also learn to make proper use of their judgment senses before issuing out a ban. Bans should be issued out when you (the mod) must have at least giving the offender an obvious warning which should be visible to members as a witness should any case erupts. If after all that, the member remains abrasive, then it would be ok to give out judgment (ban). I believe that if the mods employ this strategy, nairaland would be more conducive for members. And the respect which members would have for their mods would be very high. Thanks. 4 Likes |

You said he chose only yoruba moderators and in the same breath contradicted yourself that he chose some ibos albeit rejected ibos in your own opinion, what exactly do you want and what type of ibo would satisfy you? I don't know the. Survey you carried out to conclude that yorubas generally don't employ ibos and I suppose ibo businesses have yoruba workers too. My mum employed two ibos as sales girl, a man that supplies me paint chemicals employ both yoruba and ibo. While some small yoruba business owners employ few ibos, I am yet to see an ibo business person that employ yorubas, if it exists, it is far and few in between. Even if it is to thier own good. Again, the worst mistake anyone can do is to try and please everyone. I, sexkillz, will NEVER seek to please everyone. All i will always do is moderate according to the moderator rules, and according to the stipulated rules of Nairaland's founder. This website is privately owned. Even Jesus Christ a perfect man couldn't satisfy everyone. With all the good deeds he perpetrated, he was stilled castigated, and finally killed. I am no Jesus, neither am i perfect. So no one should expect perfection from me or the other mods. . . For any reason Whatsoever. No one gets banned for nothing. If you are banned, it just points to the obvious truth that you have broken a simple law, and no one will actually own up and say he was wrong. . . Did someone ask moderators to stop participating in discussions? That must be the Nairaland joke of the year. What kind of inferiority complex ridden joke is that? If you are losing an argument take it in good faith. Don't expect to insult another member and not get banned, simply because he is a mod. This thread is baseless. The OP has a record of rule breaking and he cannot deny it. We are getting rid of tribal insults and comments, and i can see that it is making the guilty ones uncomfortable. Well, expect more of that. A ban on a user is the only option we have to maintain order, and we will sure use it to its maximum. The bannings will continue until the affected users learn to behave themselves. Not everyone gets banned. That goes to tell you that those who get banned must have done something wrong. . . Since we have mods on the thread, why hasn't this made the frontpage!? The issue of bad moderators is an issue that many Nairaland users have complained weverally about.. I think its time we get our say.. Hopefully, some mods might repent from their ways and become more tolerant. I don't visit the muslims section, but when a thread about muslims killinng christians make the frontpage, I would think the mod would expect what is coming.. I was banned for stating the obvious which was 'Muslims killed Victor moses' parents'.. I wonder how that is an offence!? |

2 million: MOD's like d celebrity section's should be BANNED!!! Or EXPELLED!!!......cos it looks like Nairaland has become "if i know u your topic'll make front page" sought of a thing. The one that annoy me most is "picture of this....., picture of that...." making the front page while nice threads rot in the section. I'm not the biggest fan of picture threads myself. However, if you understood gossip/celebrities/tabloids/etc., then you would know that such stories are quite incomplete without pictures. Celebrity stories/gossip do depend on pictures and videos not only to entice readers but to convince them as well. If such threads annoy you, then don't click on them. There are 20+ other top stories from which to choose. If you want news or stories with more substance, visit the Politics, Science, Education, as well as some other sections. No be by force. Is it possible that so many people will just fight to bring an innocent mod down? Why are they after that particular mod and not other mods. That means there's no smoke without fire. If i were mod and i got numerous compalaints about me, i'll think outside the box and look inwards to see if i'm really guilty of the crime i'm being accused of. |

Though i've had some problems with OAMJ before, but i still think he's ok. I also like Odumchi, Ogugua and very few mods. But i see no reason why that joke of a mod name Dani1luv, Omotodun and Mukina(i know this is impossible) should not be releaved of their duty |

My favorite mod is jesoul (religion section) she's so understanding and very polite, that's why we all respect her. Don't you know that a message of caution to erring members would be more respectable than banning them. If you ask me, I'd say banning is rude. In as much as mods deserve respect, members also deserve respect as well. Banning someone because you fee he's a troll would reduce your reputation on the forum. But sending out warnings or hiding provoking threads would be a better judgment. That you're given a gun doesn't mean you must shoot every offender.
