Thousands of Muslims and Christians groups in Kaduna yesterday staged a peaceful protest against the anti-Islam movie produced in the United States.

The protesters included the elderly, youth, women and children, matched from Sheikh Tahir Usman Bauchi Friday Mosque, Asikolaye along the Nnamdi Azikiwe in condemnation of the blasphemous film and cartoons that depicted the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (SAWA) in a bad light.

The protest led by the Islamic Movement in Nigeria under the leadership of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, saw the protesters carrying placards with inscriptions, “Death to America,” “Deah to Israel,” “No to blasphemy against Prophet Muhammad.”

Alhaji Muhammad Gashash of National Tranquility Movement (NTM) also participated in the protest.

Speaking at the end of the protest, the leader of the Islamic Movement in Kaduna, Malam Mukhtar Sahabi, called on Muslims to live up to their responsibilities as Muslims.

The release of this movie at this material time, was a move to institutionalize September 11 event as an annual ritual to portray Islam as a religion of terrorists,” he said.

Pastor Theophilus Ismaila, who also led some Christians in solidarity with the Muslims during the protest, said “it is wrong to blaspheme the prophet of Islam. All Nigerians most unite and condemn what is bad.”source:www.dailytrust.com
