[b]I have read this book by NU Akpan, I even have a copy of it. Although Akpan, who was chief secretary to the Biafran Government, made a lot of valid points. One cannot help but deduce after reading the book that Apkan wrote this book to curry favour from the Government because Biafra lost the war. If Biafra had won, he would not have written the book. It's easy for everyone to "hang" the coach if the football team loses.

Ojukwu did not drag Igbos into any war or mess. My father was amongst the crowd of young Igbos who besieged Ojukwu daily at Governent house Enugu demanding the secession of Eastern Nigeria from Nigeria amidst the wholesale massacre of easterners that was happening at the time. When Ojukwu declared Biafra and the war started, my father signed up to the Biafran Army like thousands of others. Till today, my father never blames Ojukwu for what happened. What many Nigerians never seem to understand is that Ojukwu did exactly what his people asked of him, to declare Biafra. So how can we turn around to blame him for doing what we asked? This is why no Igbo man ever curses the name of Ojukwu despite the huge losses we suffered. Ojukwu did what we wanted and we love him for it. Nobody shouts 'one Nigeria' while 50,000 of his brethren are massacred in broad daylight. Nobody is following any body blindly, Igbos want to get out of Nigeria. Nnamdi Kanu, Uwazurike, Ben Onwuka and a host of other secessionist groups are just echoing the thoughts of the vast majority of Igbos.
