Good news. They were already independent in so many respects as far back as the 1700s. They entered into a union with the UK. . .and can pull out at any time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scotland The Kingdom of Scotland emerged as an independent sovereign state in the Early Middle Ages and continued to exist until 1707, although it had been in a personal union with the kingdoms of England and Ireland since James VI of Scotland succeeded to the English and Irish thrones in 1603. On 1 May 1707, Scotland entered into an incorporating political union with England to create the united Kingdom of Great Britain.[20][21] This union resulted from the Treaty of Union agreed in 1706 and enacted by the twin Acts of Union passed by the Parliaments of both countries, despite Popular opposition and anti-union riots in Edinburgh, Glasgow and elsewhere Their choice. . . mutual agreement. NO BIG DEAL! Thank to the stars for civilized people of the world. Hail the white race of civilization!!!! Dear NL M0R0NS. . . .don't display your ESUT intelligence or lack thereof and compare this situation to your Nigerian 'predicament' of everlasting confusion. . .we are dealing with CIVILIZED PEOPLE here. Thank you in advance! |

Blazay: Good news. Thanks for the info. I wonder what i t would look like if they amalgamated without a willing and mutual agreement the way Nigeria was formed. Can we drag Britain to the World court for their greedy in mis-amalgamating Nigeria? Millions have died over this thing and the numbers are still rising. |

When Nigeria wanted independence. . . it was granted TO NIGERIANS. . . .Nigerians from all tribes AGREED. Even when the ARABA movement was halted. . . IT WAS THE NORTH'S CHOICE TO REMAIN IN NIGERIA TOO. Then a series of events originating from the first coup to the Biafran nuisance convinced the world why Nigeria should never be split. 1. Lack of trust 2. Lack of love 3. Lack of discipline 4. Lack of spirituality IF YOU CANNOT BE TRUSTED WITHIN NIGERIA TO LIVE IN PEACE. . . WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU CAN BE TRUSTED AS MALICIOUS NEIGHBORS? noblezone: No! Nigeria was a willing and mutual agreement. . . btw Ahmadu Bello and co against the British. What changed all that was the first coup. . . which brought out the TRUE nature of Nigerians. The SAME problems we had yesterday. . . today and for ever more! No! you can't drag the British to the World Court because YOU DID NOT COMPLAIN THEN. . . . You should have stated that in the beginning WHEN NEGOTIATING WITH THE BRITISH! Millions are dying because of PLAIN STEWPIDITY. An over-fed goat NEVER EVER remembers where to defecate. . . the problem with Nigeria AND NIGERIANS. |

An interesting development. As far as I know, majority in Scotland are pro-union but the Politicians now have till 2014 to convince most Scots that breaking away is best - enough time to succeed at doing that in my opinion. It will be interesting to see how the 'Politics' play out. |

Now let's see if this won't have some consequences in North America with Texas and Quebec respectively in the U.S and Canada. The majority of French canadians do not want to split away from canada but Bloc Quebecois folks are beating drums day and night since 1980 to separate. The result is most business owners fled Quebec to cities such as Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Halifax in other provinces. |

Callotti: When Nigeria wanted independence. . . it was granted TO NIGERIANS. . . .Nigerians from all tribes AGREED. I think you need to see the videos, the documents, the comments of our so called founding fathers before the first coup. So you think that Nigeria was one peaceful paradise when suddenly, the coup came and brought sorrows? The coup was a climax, and the resultant effect further buttressed the fact that the amalgamation was a mistake. Take a look at this thread https://www.nairaland.com/1074893/nigerias-1960-voting-caught-camera#12561180 and please what all the videos. About 5 in all. |

Callotti: More education: Had chance of what? Biafra is coming and there is nothing anybody can do to stop it. I will surely remind you. The only difference is that blood thirsty Nigerians will be waiting for a chance to "finish" the genocide campaign, but I can assure you that it will never happen again. The sooner you guys adjust your minds that Biafra is a nation, the better for you. Do you understand? |
