The Interim Chairman of Akoko
South West Local Government Mrs.
Opeyemi Adefarati, died in a road
mishap that occurred along the Owo-
Ikare Expressway on Thursday night.
The tragic incident, according to the
Public Relations Officer of the
state Police Command, Mr. Aremu
Adeniran, occurred around 8.25 pm
when the driver of a trailer with
registration number ABJ 413 XA, lost
control while descending the Oke
Maria hill and ran into the Toyota
Camry with registration number
GG268 EKY, which conveyed
Adefarati and her orderly.
Adeniran noted that seven people
were involved in the mishap, but two
of them, including the council boss,
were unlucky.
The police boss disclosed that three
others who were seriously injured
including her police orderly, were
rushed to the Federal Medical Centre
in Owo for emergency medical
attention, while the corpses of
Adefarati and that of the
anonymous person had been deposited
at the General Hospital in Ikare.
Prior to her sudden demise, the late
Adefarati was a strong member of
Labour Party (LP) and the Caretaker
Chairman of Akoko South West Local
Government in Ondo State.
