If there is any issue that is getting attention on the pages of newspapers in Nigeria in the last few weeks
It's the reactions to Prof. Achebe's new book where he blamed Chief Obafemi Awolowo, for the death of over 2 millions South Easterners during the 31 months of civil war. The memory of Biafra war is a very sad one that every Nigeria should be sober about. The death of over 20 million souls is indeed a bad one to humanity. The casualties is too alarming. There is no doubt about the fact that the Ibos were humiliated and killed in the northerner part of Nigeria prior to the declaration of Biafra republic on may 30th, 1967. It is also what mentioning that the war costed chief Ojukwu, Eze Ogburugburu, personally a great fortune in terms of both material possessions spent on the war and his con ferment in exile for years in Ivory Coast. Not only him but many others as well. The major actors in the war should all be responsible for the lost during the war on both side of the divide notable ones are former president Yakubu Gowon, Chief Ojukwu, Chief Azikiwe, chief Awolowo, Former head of state Ironsi and Northern political class then. Firstly,There was inter personality ego between General Gowon and Chief Odumegu Ojukwu, which worsen the situation. Gowon wasn't the highest ranking military officer in the land then Brigadier Ogundipe was the highest ranking officer followed by Rear Admiral Wey of the navy and Colonel Adebayo who was next to Ogundipe. Gowon was a Lieutenant Colonel Ojukwu believed his appointment is not in order as head of state. Also, Both Gowon and Ojukwu were both in their early 30's. Some believe if they were much older they meant have taken a much more mature decisions than they both did which will consider the long time effect of their decisions. Also, Gowon failed for not keeping to Aburi agreement. If only Aburi agreement is followed there will not have been war in the first place. Ironsi's fault is for not prosecuting the soldiers in the first coup d' tat that killed the Sultans of Sokoto, the prime minister and others which is believe to be an Ibo coup in some quarters that dethroned other ethnicity which brought about distrust and revenge that led to the second coup of 27th of July,1966. The northern political class misinformed Gowon not to support Aburi's agreement. Also, why did Chief Azikiwe backed out of the struggle in 1969? At a time his people needed him most. He could have joined Sen. Chukumereje and others as propaganda publicist for Biafra where he could have easily gotten Americas sympathies and support for Biafra. if Biafra had gotten their independence in 1967 the nation will by now be the manufacturing king of Africa because of the intelligence and Innovation that the Ibo's are known for. Why did Ojukwu ordered the Biafra soldiers to captured mid west region and they were on there way to captured Nigeria's then capital Lagos before they were stopped at Ore? This makes one to doubt the true intention of Ojukwu. Ojukwu should have just captured his territory and proclaimed the sovereign of Biafra. The war was ill planned for on the side of Biafra. No doubt the side lacks both the necessary weapons and military intelligentsias to overpower the Nigeria side. But, Biafra soldiers were more determined and patriotic. None of the major actors are saints. OJukwu also killed many innocent people as well he set up a kangaroo special tribunal by one Mr. Godwin Nzegwu, a lawyer by profession from Onitha to trail the following four officers lieutenant -colonel Victor Banjo, Alale, Ifeajuna and Agbam. The members of the special tribunal has been ordered in advance to convict the four, on the flimsy and uncorroborated evidence given by the prosecution witnesses. The charge that Banjo took money from the British high commission was utterly false and frivolous. The unjust killing of Banjo is What remembering, the warlord who was freed from prison by Ojukwu and mandated to fight for Biafra in a battle where his victory will not benefit him rather against his peoples interest. The roles played by. Chief Awolowo should be investigated as well. This reminds me of the poem An Irish Airman for seen his death. Banjo's story is similar to the Irish Airman in the poem. Some Yorubas also join the Biafra in the struggle Major. Adewale Ademoyega, Major Adeleke, Major Fola Oyewole and professor Wole Soyinka fought for the Biafra soldiers. Chief Awolowo should be investigated as well. My stand is I agree ordinary R.R.R meant be too small for a man that lost all during the war. But, let all learn from the past and not live in the past. If there is any one or group that needs to say sorry why not do so. And, if there is any need for compensation is not too late, or for a truth commission of inquiry. But, I believe all these will bring more would than heal. We just need to move forward as a nation. At this time of our national development we don't need to start shifting blames but learn from the ugly scene and correct all the regional or tribal injustice and in balances in the land. My reason for writing this piece is how are we going to correct the aftermath of the civil war and live happily together again. Regionalism is the solution to Nigeria problems with true federalism where there will be healthy rivalry among region for development as it is among the states in United State of America where we borrow the presidential system of government not a feeding bottle federalism in place in Nigeria now. Secondly, How to live in a country where there will be equal opportunities to all a sundry, not where one comes from determines where one meant get to politically. I stand to be corrected anyway. Long Live Nigeria! Long live Black race!.

Bros you tried, but you did not mentioned Lord Luggard and his reckless British colonialists, who are the main originators of the unfortunate bloody empire called Nigeria.

We are talking about the Biafran war?
Can we calculate the number of souls (especially Igbos) slaughtered since after the war?

I think we are just wasting our time, let us sit down and negotiate Nigeria.
