Nigeria's Political-economic System by Nobody: 9:23pm On Nov 05, 2012 |
Nigeria's present Political-economic system can best be described as a unitary one; in which the federal govt takes a lion's share of the revenue derived from the export of natural resources within the states. Many public commentators have described this system as the cause of the slow pace of infrastructual development in Nigeria. They advocate for 'True Federalism'. True federalism also known as resource control, would put the lion's share of such revenues in the hands of the states, while a pittance will be paid to the FG. Should the status-quo remain? Or should the FG take on a less domineering role in Naija's political-economy? The floor is open. |
