Former member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Dino Melaye, yesterday took to his Twitter account in a swift reply to the press statement issued by the office of the Minister of Finance, after a demonstration he led some hours earlier in the FCT against the ministry.



In a statement signed by Paul Nwabuikwu, spokesman to Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Dino Melaye was described as a “disreputable” individual adding that “Nigerians are, of course, not deceived by the antics of Mr Melaye who has not known pedigree as a civil society activist or even a reputation for honour or common decency.”

He was accused of carrying out a protest sponsored by oil barons indicted and are currently being investigated and prosecuted for subsidy fraud.


In a swift reaction to Iweala’s release, Melaye in one of his tweets said: “We asked why will minister of finance pay oil thieves without due diligence and scrutiny, so how does this relate to sponsorship from oil thieves?”

The Kogi-born politician on Wednesday piloted a group of protesters under the aegis of Anti-Corruption Network to the Finance Ministry in Abuja, calling for the resignation of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

They blamed her for introducing bad economic policies and wrong subsidy payments, an accusation the Minister strongly denies.

HAH: please tell me where Dino went wrong, he has raised an issue instead of addressing what he has brought up people are always going against his personality. for all I care Dino can be way worth in his personal life but as long as the message of his crusade is valid iam with him.

deletrue: Some of you only exists to cause confusion in the minds of reasonable individuals. Why must any normal persons whose up bringing is upright ever think of supporting Dono? First, has he defended the actress accusation? Or are you saying that issues at stake is not weighty enough for his (dono) person to feel uncomfortable? Besides, your comment admits that almost every nigerians are going against Dono whenever his name is mentioned. Is that not indication that he is an irresponsible and is not suitable individual to fight curruption? Maybe, you think NL is as worthless as punch news paper where worthless issues are published in order to show nigerians unreasonable comments from people like you? pls try to defend correct people and not societal defiant like Dono.

She doesnt seem to be doing very well,giving the kind of shrewd and accountable finacial background she came from,in as much as we know that world bank is the biggest thief in the book of "holy grail".

There seems to be alot of loose ends in her finacial accountabilities.The system is not accounting for anything,they just spending our monies on at will.Gej spending billions on food,senators getting astronomical wages for doing nothing,some of them are even terrorists.Governors buying private jets with states allocations,while projects are undone.Militants and terrorists getting compasations for being destructive.Crime recoverd monies disappearing and convicts going scot free.So many loopholes

Not too long ago there was an ugly report of wasteful resources in her ministry,under her watchful eyes,for fumigation.
