Realtol: the ppl from other parts of Oyo state also voted for him. For that reason alone they deserved good things in their domains too that is what I am saying. In fact that would facilitate quick and even development if d projects are distributed across various parts of the state like Oyo. Ogbomosho, Iseyin, Ipapo, Saki etc. because these cities are not enjoying d dividend of democrary for which they assiduously and doggedsly worked for right now which I think they deserve to enjoy. Ajimobi should look into those cities and develop them too and stop being a bigotry who only cares for his own native town. Mind you some of these cities votes for Ajimobi are more than that of Ibadan in d last general election. Thank you!Guy read this: OYO TO DUALIZE 5 ROADS WITH N29.3B The Oyo State Government has awarded the contract for the dualization of five major roads that cut across the state, at the total cost of N29.3 billion. The construction of the roads was announced at a joint news conference at the end of the weekly executive council meeting in Ibadan on Monday. The news conference was jointly addressed by the state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Bosun Oladele, his Works and Transport counterpart, Alhaji Yunus Akintunde, as well as Special Advisers on Media and Information and Orientation, Dr. Festus Adedayo and Gbolagade Busari respectively. According to the state government, the roads include the four- kilometre Ibadan-Oyo Expressway/Iseyin-Oyo Junction to Owode, as well as the expansion of the 2.5 kilometre Owode-Akesan- Palace Road and the sectional repair of a 3.8-kilometre portion of the old Ibadan-Oyo Road at the cost of N7,785,840,123.47. Another project, the government said, included the dualization of the 6.32-kilometre Ilorin Expressway Junction-Ikoyi-Takie-Palace- Ogbomoso Grammar School in Ogbomoso at the cost of N5,695,147,363.60. The contract for the dualization of the 6.2-kilometre Ibadan-Oyo- Iseyin Junction-Iseyin/Okeho Junction Road in Iseyin was also awarded by the state government at the cost of N6,092,448,322.40 to take care of the major entry to Oke- Ogun zone of the state. The dualization of the 7.4-kilometre Dugbe-Magazine-Eleiyele Road with spurs to Aleshinloye-Onireke/ Agbarigo Road in Ibadan was also awarded by the state government at the cost of N7,066,762,166.86. The state government also said that its executive council had approved the construction of the dilapidated Ijokodo-Apete Road, with its associated two bridges, including the Apete bridge whose contract was revoked earlier, at the cost of N2,649,420,593. The state Information Commissioner said that the projects, all of which would be completed within the next 18 months, were in fulfillment of the Ajimobi administration’s promise that entrances to major towns and cities would be dualized to enhance access. The Commissioner for Works also explained that the contract sums for all the affected roads were inclusive of cost of compensation to those whose properties would be affected, relocation of facilities such as water pipes, electricity poles and telecommunication facilities, as well as cost of consultancy. |

Sorry for offending OBJ is my role model and will never tolerate any insult against him I don't really know how stretched is the Mokola bridge but the Sango Ota bridge is quite a stretch, the only snag is that there is no functioning street light on the whole stretch of the bridge. |

I visited Oyo township last month and i almost plan to relocate there fully. So please dont say what you dont know, I dont live in Oyo state but i have families there and they are all praising him so what else do you expect? Beside Ibadan alone is Bigger than the rest of the cities in oyo state and its the most targeted City in Oyo State. |

onatisi: The most vital road(Lagos-Ibadan express) in the country that is under the FG has not seen any form of transformation, and Ibadan/oyo has? Don't be deceived |

I stand to be corrected but this bridge has many flaws,i checked it out yesterday and I was shocked 1. No bearing pads,(wood was used) 2. The diaphram beam was an after thought ,provision was not made in most of d longitudunal beams 3. No adequate expansion joints,as it should have been provided at every span I rest my case |

This is the kind of news on infrastructural development we all want to see coming out of any state in Naija...Nigerians want to see tangible and completed projects that will benefit the common man and not endless and counterproductive conferences/symposiums/seminars, etc.... |

The bus supply project looks good on the face of it, except the cost: The Oyo State Government has approved arrangements for the procurement of 100 mass transit buses to ease transportation problem in the state at the cost of N1,744,800,000. That translates to some 17,448,000 for each bus i.e. USD 110,000 at about N160 to USD1. I expect the state government will get a much better rate as this is a government transaction. Meanwhile a similar bus supplied from Dubai costs USD 80,000 fully loaded, luxurious version. All the talk about one year expatriate should be part of the after sales service for spending USD 11million. Moreover, why not buy the chassis and have Oyo state residents trained to build adapted body frame thereon for easy maintenance and longevity? That will be a more strategic approach. 1 Like |

pheemmii: D route to Dugbe.i guess as much , will the bridge reach queens cinema that is the major bottleneck and dugbe junction |
Re: Mokola Roundabout Bridge Construction – Update by Nobody: 8:57pm On Nov 18, 2012 |
onatisi:Lol, queens cinema ke, dt one go take up to 10yrs to build..it stopped just short of alafia hospital. Also, there's no longer much traffic in. Dugbe area since akala dualized dt road down to oke ado. 1 Like |

Josh090:the mokola roundabout doesnt need a bridge only competent traffic wardens , the problem of that road is from queens cinema and the junction to omitowoju and also the dugbe junction to jrl |
Re: Mokola Roundabout Bridge Construction – Update by Nobody: 9:06pm On Nov 18, 2012 |
shymexx: Ibadan looks so dirty and medieval, to be honest...Truth is, as of today no city is cleaner dan ibadan not even calabar. Reason is, go along challenge down to dugbe, down to UI, you will tink ibadan is d cleanest city in naija, but go to inner city like gege and co, its anoda story despite d effort of d local and state government in those areas ppl have refused to use d waste drums properly, looking @ dt you'll tink IB is very dirty...this same situation is obtainable everywhere in ds country. Apart frm calabar municipality, d rest isn't so clean. Lagos too isn't all clean either, but @ least oyo govt. Is making serious efforts @ arresting the situation. Abt being mediaval, no doubt ibadan township is medieval and can be nauseating sometimes, but go to samonda and bodija and see if you won't be in awe. 1 Like |

onatisi: Are you a town/urban planner? Re: Mokola Roundabout Bridge Construction – Update by PaulJohn1: 11:40pm On Nov 18, 2012 |
Josh090: Exactly. The planning of Ibadan is very funny, such that anywhere you're traveling from on you way to Lagos, it's the indecent area you'll pass through. Imagine someone coming from Akure or the South/East, entering Ibadan through Gbagi through to Iwo road flyover, turning left to Lagos-Ibadan expressway. Your impression will be that the whole of Ibadan is made of ancient buildings with the buildings present in that area. Not knowing you're just seeing not up to 1/10 of the whole city. The organised areas: challenge, mokola, bodija, ashi, iyana church and rest are not seen. But I can say Ajumobi is doing fine, with the orderliess he has brought to that Iwo road flyover and other things I've seen around. The second flyover you'll go through entering Ibadan from Lagos that intersects Ijebu-Ode road from Ogun is amazing, the landscaping and beautification is lovely. |
