I believe that was during (prior to or immediately after) the period of elections (gubernatorial and state/federal house of assembly)...so we'd expect some thugs to show muscle. Besides that, AKS is a peaceful state by Naija standard...with good and delicious cuisines, nice culture, aphrodisiac women et al

N/B: AKS was the only south-south state not to have witnessed the major flood impact in most parts of Naija due to the underground drainage system in strategic locations in the state...

Akwa Ibom was created in 1987 from Cross River State; 27 years post-colonization... Also, I believe our democracy actually started in 1999 (Obong Attah's tenure). Prior to 1999, the Military Administrators didn't do zilch for development and the struggle for 13% derivation (The Onshore/Offshore Dichotomy brouhaha) was granted in 2003/2004? Hence, that's when Oil money started being utilized in Akwa Ibom State; barely 10 years...

this is why it annoys me when people say nigeria hasn't developed. Of course it's not going to happen overnight but none of this was here 10 years ago, 5 even.

@Sunny, that's quite a daunting task I must say, as pictures and videos of infrastructural developments in Akwa Ibom are numerous. Unfortunately, I have limited time and would be unable to oblige to your request... You can start up a thread with few pictures, then I'd be motivated to provide support afterwards...

^^^I think we can all agree we've done to death- Lagos, Enugu, Akwa Ibom, FCT, and maybe Imo (mainly their capitals though). A few pics/videos of places like Ibadan, Abeokuta, Awka, Aba, Kaduna, Zaria, Kano and Sokoto would be nice, don't you think?; why don't peeps residing in these states like showcasing their states like Spyder did with Enugu?
