Many people were injured in the Ajah area of Lagos on Monday after hoodlums believed to be members of rival gangs clashed.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the clash was as a result of a long-standing feud between rival gangs in Ilaje and Ajah.

A police source who craved anonymity, told our correspondent that the clash was as a result of the collecting of money from Keke NAPEP operators.

The policeman added that fighting among the hoodlums had become a weekly affair and the police authorities were working on how find a lasting solution to the problem.

He said, “Around 9am, we received a distress call that hoodlums were fighting at Ilaje Bus Stop on the Lekki-Epe Expressway. So, we rushed down to the scene.

“Immediately we arrived there, the hoodlums took to their heels. The violence has become rampant now. Very soon, an armoured tank will be stationed there permanently to deter hoodlums from fighting.”

However, PUNCH Metro learnt that many residents had fled the area until peace was restored.

Confirming the incident to our correspondent on the telephone, the spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, said the area commander, Area J, was already having talks with the warring factions.

They are only rehearsing on how they will unleash their terror on your sorry asses. At the appropriate time, they will partner and we will turn them loose on you

Too bad they've been unable to rehearse for the Fulani marauders who have been humiliating them, slapping them senseless and banging their newlywed wives right in front of them in Ogun.

Or by 'rehearsals', do you mean 900 metre sprint to Benin Republic?

If Fashola is an honorable man as he claims to be, then he should ban all agberos (Area boys) from Lagos...but of course that would be very impossible because his government makes lots of money from them.

Do the police expect applause?
Its obvious this is a gang turf war
How come they are yet to make arrests regarding something that is now a weekly occurence(according to the policeman interviewed by PUNCH)
How long do solutions take?
Arrest the leaders 1st ,phuck 'em from behind without vaseline& build up from there
Na only to 'arrest' okada dem dey eager for

how is lagos state's incident related to ogun state? The distance btw that ajah and yewa in ogun state is longer than the long throats of your leaders who has been embezzling your 13% allocation and buying guns for ur graduates to be kidnappers. And 'dumbest' thing being u guys couldn't carry the guns and help your brothers being slain up north! U keep kidnapping yourselves for ransome.

I've also asked myself why Fashola who has shown that he can make and enforce laws to the latter still live these street urchins to be nuissance all over Lagos. Shouldn't a government that prides itself as being progressive work to see that these people are off the streets?

....Fashola grew up at Onola in central Lagos Island. If you don't know the history of Onola then you dont know tje history of Area boys in Lagos and you therefore cannot understand that Area boys are in fact an outctop of fan clubs.

There were ward rivalries in footbal championships, high jump and pole vault championships, fuji, were and waka talent shows.....etc.

Ayinde Barrister, Wasiu Ayinde, Kollington Ayinla.....oh, thunder Balogun, these were products of community rivalries and competition and the stage was right in front of the Fashola family house

.So asking Fashola to outlaw them would be a request to him to outlaw a historical chapter in the history of Lagos.......or perhaps to request that the English fan clubs in England are notorious for destruction and carnage and so to ban all fan clubs...like Arsenal and Manchester.

I don't get you...so, because they're a historic chapter of Lagos they should remain as nuissance to lagos abi? If this were China you know you would have been shot in the eye for this utterance.

For whereee? This ones are not important as LASU tution fees that was increased from 25k to 340k and above, this is just an a rehearsal of what Fashola and Jaguda Tinubu are breeding. If parents cannot avoid to send there children to university again, then the worst is yet to happen.what about the pple that were denied their daily means of survival all in the name of turning Lagos to America over night without providing an alternative means of livelihood for them. All this are the political strategy of Jaguda Tinubu and Mamuna Fashola to prepare them for 2015 so Tinubu wife could become Gov of Lagos state. Wait and watch!!!!!
