take dat: This EFCC sef no serious, so they expect government to adequately fund them so that they can start chasing political office holders, government officials and their cronies outside government around town? Its another way to alert EFCC and Nigerians that Corruption has come to stay, its the Insignia of Government hence why EFCC will remain underfunded and a toothless dog!

@take dat Sir, let's not give the EFCC, which has failed dismally to fulfill its mission statement, an open-ended war chest for spending.

I was not going to post anything today, but because your opinions are generally fair and balanced, I want to draw draw your attention to the following...

While considering the agency’s 2013 budget proposals, Senators frowned at the huge allocations for travels and trainings, and directed the EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Lamorde to provide justification for the budget.

“You are an agency fighting corruption and you must ensure transparency. We need to have all the evidence that you paid for these items,” Chairman of the committee, Senator Victor Lar, told the EFCC boss.

A member of the committee, Senator Benedict Ayade, had raised questions over a N357m budget by the agency for local travels and transportation; another N100m for international travels; N73m for local training and another N130m for international training.

The member also pointed out that the anti-graft commission in 2012 spent N54m for sporting activities and frowned at the payment of N135m for satellite and broadband charges.

Where is the return on investment after spending 357 million Naira on local travel, eh? What is the point of having as many regional branches as it does, if more than 1 million naira is spent on daily commute?
Looking at figures spent on sporting activities alone, I am no longer convinced Lamorde and crew have not been patronising the IBB golf course at the expense of Nigeria's long suffering tax payers? grin
