Samsung has unleashed the Jelly Bean 4.1.2 Android update for international Galaxy S III handset users. The "Premium Suite" upgrade includes new features previously seen in the Samsung Galaxy Note II, such as multi-window views, context-aware cleverness and more.

First up, though, is a bunch of contextual features. Contextual photo tagging can automatically apply tags for location, data and weather conditions whether you grab a snap.

A new contextual menu function, meanwhile, helps you quick jump to your most frequently used apps. Then there's Page Buddy. It detects when you plug in headphones and automatically fires up the music player and queues your favourite music.


Hmmm, upgrades...

Next up are what Samsung calls enhanced features. The biggie here is multi-window. It's basically a split-screen function for running two apps in parallel. How do you like them apples, iPhone 5?

A new reader mode for the web browser helps to maximise readability by cutting out unnecessary interface elements and making the most of the available screen real estate.

Oh, and the new Auto Share Shot pairing function adds proximity photo sharing courtesy of NFC radio. Nice.

I hate any attempt at comparing Android with iOS especially comparing Samsung Galaxy S 3 with iPhone, whether 5 or 10, offends me. To be clear, Samsung/ Android is just in another class and world.

By the way, my S3 is currently updated to Jelly Bean 4.1.1. I'll upgrade to 4.1.2 using my office Wi Fi tomorrow.

I'm just curious. Can it be installed on a rooted SGSII?

Jelly Bean is the latest version of the Android OS. It replaced Icecream Sandwich. Try Google before responding.

No doubt Android is the future of mobile computing but Nigerian Telcos haven't yet come up with reasonable Data rates for smart phone users. So that would still make Blackberry the best choice for Nigerians.

The jelly bean IMO is a revamped ics basically.Apart from Google now , there is nothing much different from ics eg the multi window views, automatic music play, contextual tagging etc have always been in ics.it was Samsung that hadn't integrated them in their Android versions.my one cent

Oh it's not a nexus phone.its a HTC hd2 windows phone which I modded to run android .the Samsung galaxy nexus source was what I modified and mashed up with Cyanogenmod .I also used a modified ubuntu linux kernel

Cyanogenmod can run on nexus s as well as galaxy nexus..it has to be on a modded rom though,
