@house,
I received fcmb annual result for 2014. I am so surprised as after many jijo, I bought at the markdown price-2.55 but it later regained the losses that day and closed at abt 2.7x naira.

Having bought at the mark down price, I don't expect dividend or annual report.
Who knows if I will still receive dividend. I wonder if they use that names on the register at close of day on mark down day.

I got afriprud dividend warrant last yr notwithstanding i sold some days before close of register. So many irregularities.

Uptil now i have not even seen my oando divident warrant of last yr.

Pls let someone reply to this post. Is there anyone in the house who receives trade alert anytime he/she trades on Morgan because trade alert is always deducted in the statement or does anyone sees his Morgan portfolio in the online cscs stock monitor. Your response will be appreciated.
Thanks.

I do receive SMS Alert

As Oga B2R and coy no gree the price reach #15k for me leverage very very well I kuku loaded OANDO on Friday @ #17:75k.

Now my total average cost is down to #20:50. after 11months of waiting though dey gave us #1 dividend last yr to buy Kulikuli cool

Am glad for you sir as I stated that oando won't come down to N15 again.

One thing I learnt from Morgan I trade is that you can predict some likely price movements of stocks..

Am fully loaded in oando as you are but I won't sleep with my eyes closed on this coy. I hope they release their result soon. UBA is another stock people should watch closely.

Nigerian banks falling down.

Money is the king. Enter FBNH this week below 9 Naira and FCMB below 3.10 Naira or forget it till thy Kingdom come.

Load more FlourMill or forget it.

My biggest investment mistakes and lessons learnt

1. Not selling losers (FBNH, Dangote Sugar, NASCON)

Lessons learnt

Once proven that your purchase to be too high, sell and take the one-time loss rather than add to the opportunity loss
Irrespective of how good a company/stock is, your purchase price determines your potential returns

2. Selling winners too early/Not buying more (UBCAP, OandO)

Lessons learnt

Buy more of your winners (not losers), if the original story gets better, even if it is at higher prices when you first bought
Don't sell in a hurry, infact don't sell a winning stock untill you have a more promising investment lined up

3. Going contrarian on price alone (Transcorp)

Lessons learnt

A company that doesn't meet your key investment checklist criteria is too expensive at any price

I know all these have been said here in this thread repeatedly but I see myself making these mistakes over and over again.
I started avoiding these mistakes when I began learning how to separate emotions from investment. The bottom line is this, successful investing is more about being able to curb your inherent biases and impulses rather than brilliant stock picking, which forms one of the principles on which NSEMPA operates.

'Real estate is not as easy as you think.........May God show us all the ultimate way to financial success........'

Amen oooo at the the quote above.
99% of ppl that sell land are dubious. No friendship in the business. Building is also not easy. The omonile wahala and the rest. You may also get tenants that are troublesome.

Last week, I went to a location I have property and what I saw there was not funny. Opposite our area, all d fence and properties were demolished. I found out that each property there has been sold to at least 3 ppl. The man i saw with the wife doing foundation opposite mine is no longer the owner of the property. Court cases will enter. Jazz things.

Asaba is even the worst. They will sell ur property to another person even if u have a gated fence and a security house with no tenant living. A day b4 they bring a prospective buyer to the place, they will break ur key and put their own. Once they arrive, they will use their key and open the padlock making the buyer believe its theirs . chikena.

No place like NSE. Just know when to cut your losses .

Hmmm. Very interesting. In as much as I do not want to credit/discredit any form of investment(real estate or stocks). I want to believe that both investment vehicles have different weightings in regards to how it affects your investment portfolio in the grand scheme of things.

A wise Egbon told me something a while back and it goes thus; "In the Nigerian justice system, if someone is convicted and been asked to bring a surety, the judge requests for a surety that has landed properties and not shares". This really got me thinking and even though I never really gave a lot of thoughts to real estate investments because of some of the disadvantages associated with it, I have started working on adding it to my investment portfolio. All na diversification noni grin grin grin grin

Sorry to say but you will still find yourself making same mistakes in the future. Why? Because When decision time comes a lot of what ifs will be running through your head.

@ Reddit, you have learnt some good lessons. Another lesson to learn also is that your strategy will need to change with time as you gain experience. Very often you will meet stocks that completely defy your strategies and if you don't align, you will miss big. I have learnt this recently with Betaglass.

We are still learning.

Lesson are always learnt after an experience. But no two similar situations will give similar results/experience. Hindsight can not give you pure foresight.

Due diligence is the watch word.
On NSE? Anything can happen.

If you like call it HYPOCRISY, if you like call it HOLIER THAN GOD; the fact remains that people should not wash their dirty linen in the public. When they do so and they get bashed heavily (like Bash Ali), that doesn't mean their bashers don't have dirty linen.

Someone said something 'funny' and you're giving him 'thumb'. Does the corrupt nature of OBJ, Tinubu... mean that 99% of Nigerians are like that? Does that mean we should tolerate 'dirty linens' on NSEMPA? Did you ask yourself why the moniker deleted his post?

No wonder someone said: "Welcome to Nigeria where stupidity and mediocrity are celebrated"

I don't like joining issues or blowing my trumpet but for clarity sake. God bears me witness on August 22nd 2013.

That i was among those that got a certificate of appreciation from the COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY (CDA) its an organisation under Dubai govt.

That being said till we deal decisively with the issue of HYPOCRISY i don't see Nigeria moving forward. thank you.

To me I think in NSE, hind sight + due diligence = better decision-making. Non can be separated from the other.
