Really folks, what is this? Reward for corruption. Surely Uduaghan has finaly gone Mad The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has condemned in strong terms, the payment of N50M as pension to the ex-governor of Delta State cum serial convict, James Onanefe Ibori by the Delta State government. Speaking on behalf of the Coalition, its Executive Chairman, Debo Adeniran, noted that paying James Ibori pension is rewarding corruption and encouraging its perpetrators. “It is very disheartening that Delta State government could pay a common criminal like Ibori monthly pension. What is the essence of the payment? To compensate him for bleeding Delta State coffers white during his tenure? Or is he being paid for rendering many hapless and helpless Deltans useless and worthless in his reign? Ibori has been convicted of a fraction of the crimes he committed while in power, and will definitely come back to face the wrath of the Nigerian Law after he might have ended his jail term in the United Kingdom, so he should be deemed to have been dismissed from office and therefore, not entitled to pension. It is preposterous on the part of the present crop of people in power in Delta State to have included Ibori in the pension payments. Such a move will further encourage corruption among political office holders when many Nigerians are working frantically to reduce corruption to the barest minimum,”Adeniran submitted. He also urged the anti-graft agencies to be on the look out because such unwarranted payment is capable of deepening corruption in the country and hardening its perpetrators, since they know that respite awaits them even if they get caught after leaving office. http://newsdiaryonline.com/cacol-flays-n50m-pension-to-ibori/ http://dailypost.com.ng/2012/12/22/n50-million-pension-ibori-cacol-blasts-delta-state-government/ |

So,because he was Convicted, you don't want his Gratuity to be paid, abi? So you don't want Uduaghan to get his own when he leaves office, abi? Irrespective of how you view it,I think Thief, sorry, Chief Ibori James is entitled to his pension. Besides, don't you know that,Governor Uduaghan will also get paid 20 times of what he paid Ibori as gratuity,by the next Governor of the state! And the Rule goes on and on. Uduaghan is simply showing his Successor how to treat him(Uduaghan) when he leaves office. The law of NIGERIA DEMOCRAZY states that:WHAT YOU SOW TO YOUR PREDECESSOR YOU SHALL ALSO REAP!!!!!! Chei, nwannem, dan uwana, ara mi, NIGERIA DEMOCRAZY SWEET OOO. Wallai, all our POLITRICKCIAN WILL NOT DIE WELL!!!!!!! 5 Likes |

You cant scrap Ibori's name from the Pension Fund. His payment is not illegal as he was governor despite his conviction, he still deserves his gratuity. Prison is actually called Correctional Facility in English Language, he will come back 'corrected' and will need all the assistance he can get to live as better man. 100% of all Ex-Governors siphoned funds. Ibori's problem was loyalty. 7 Likes |

As a matter of fact, other governors are also as criminal as Ibori, only that the latter was not smart enough. Moreover, Ibori was not impeached when he was a governor, he was not relieved of his duty. And he completed his tenure, didn't he? It's part of any state government ethics to give him as an ex governor the regard the state government extends to other ex-governors. |

You guys should leave ibori alone. All Nigeria politicians and in fact civil servants are corrupt yet they all get their pensions on retirement. What of successful coup plotters that end up as head of state, dont they collect pensions? |

Even if DPP Won in Delta State, Ibori's Pensions must be paid to Him as an ex-Governor. Unless a Court of law in a judgement declared, that He was never elected Governor of the state. Haba naija people na so una be? even if we all hate him for imposing His broda on us, does not mean His right should be deprived of Him. |

His pension is his right, however, in more sane climes, the state assembly would unite to pass a resolution taking the pension from him. Another way would be to pass a law denying people convicted of fraud in government from recieving gratuity. 1 Like |
