During the 2012 World Teachers’ day, the governor had announced the approval of 50 per cent increment of rural allowance along side with other incentives for teachers in both primary and secondary schools throughout the state.

In her welcome address, the commission’s Chairman, Ms Olubukunola Onabanjo, said the award was meant to celebrate excellence, hard work and dedication to duties as well as reward those who worked tirelessly to meet and sustain the “Ogun-Standard”.
While taking stock of her Commission’s achievements in the year 2012, the Chairman and her team were full of praises to Almighty God and the governor for his passion and commitment in revamping the educational sector in the State.

She added that the commission is looking forward for a rewarding and fruitful academic session in year 2013 as steps have been taken by the government to renovate staff rooms, train and re-train both of teaching and non-teaching staff, improve on the supervisory activities and legalisation and strengthening of the position of Principals-General.

Very impressive

I remember when I was a youth corper with SPDC, they recruited a lot of corpers as teachers for schools sponsored by them in the rural areas and they even paid those corpers a lot more than what the rest of us that worked in the offices earned. Just that our chances of getting retained were higher
