A Nigerian oil chief and senior staff of the Pipelines Products Marketing Company, PPMC, Okrika Area Office, an affiliate of the Port Harcourt Refining Company was kidnapped on Thursday in the Oil state.

The PPMC is a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Commission, NNPC.

Confirming the incident, the spokesman of the state’s police command, Ben Ugwuegbulam, said “the victim is a Deputy Manager at the PPMC…he was abducted at Ozuoba in the outskirts of Port Harcourt on January 3. The details of the incident are still sketchy. Our anti-kidnap unit has commenced investigation into the incident. We will give you more details as soon as we get them,” Mr Ugwuegbulam said.

geeez: Virtually everyday, there is one kidnap news or the other which is just a small fraction of all the kidnappings that happen in the country. If its not bombings in the north, it will be kidnapping in the SS or SE. I just wonder how long this will continue. Just wonder

most of us are ignorant to the fact that crimes occur everywhere. There is no community that is free of one crime or the other. Kidnapping is a Nigerian problem not a SE SS problem. A NNPC (NPDC) staff was also kidnapped during the week in Benin.
