Nigeria: Conjoined Twins Die At National Hospital

Lagos — Chief Medical Director, National Hospital Abuja (NHA), Dr Olusegun Ajuwon, yesterday said in Abuja that the conjoined twins delivered at the hospital in March, died yesterday.

Ajuwon told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the hospital was at the verge of informing parents of the need to "let one of them go," for the other to survive when they died.

I was so sad on hearing this on the evening news, and felt for those poor conjoined twins that had the misfortune of being born into a country such as ours......never mind the fact that they were delivered at the so called 'NATIONAL HOSPITAL ABUJA', which ordinarily should be a centre of excellence in medicine and healthcare; no wonder the rich, gov't officials and public servants (and their friends and family) go abroad for treatment even at the slightest hint of a headache......they know how hopeless our healthcare system is in this country, and it's just there for poor sods like you and i that can't afford to travel abroad like them fat greedy bastards can.

You hear of cases abroad of conjoined twins being seperated successfully with little complications, but of course it has to be different in this country; can you believe that it was only when an autopsy was carried out on the twins dead body that they were discovered to be sharing a navel and intestines!?

The minister of health and the chief medical consultant in that glorified clinic should be queried, and appropriate punishments and sackings should be meted out where necessary . If this is a hospital we tout as one of our best then we're all finished......literally! (the poor masses that is).

Just realised that the news article i posted is an old story (2009).......so this has happened in the past, and still we learnt nothing!?
