ZIK: “LET US FORGET OUR DIFFERENCES AND MOVE ON”.

THE SARDUANA: “AZIKIWE, WE CAN NOT FORGET OUR DIFFERENCES. LET US UNDERSTAND OUR DIFFERENCES TO BE ABLE TO MOVE ON”.

“We must recognise and uphold the balance between cohesion, all types of differences and equity. People are brought increasingly together at the same time as they are easily driven apart. Bridges must be built between them. This geographical space that God has put together, let no man or one group put asunder. We must understand and accept our differences and encourage all best practices.”

The only thing uniting this Nation is prayer, tolerance and patience of the christian folks.Otherwise everyone would've taken up arms and there would'nt be a Nigeria today.Lets just pray that patience and tolerance isnt overstretched and exceeds its breaking point, cos we re already at d elastic limit.

Bros, u did not add "oyel money".

"oyel money" is a very strong force in keeping Nigeria "one".

North and South Nigeria both have a great deal to offer each other and the world, culturally, religiously and economically. And the whole would always be greater than the sum of its parts.

Even from all the comments, we can agree that none of the factors that unites us makes for nation-building.

Nigeria ought to be Africa's powerhouse - cos its the continent's biggest oil producer and most populous country black nation on this planet.

Sadly...after decades of poor governance, most of its 160 million people are still mired in poverty.

What divides Nigeria or rather what has prevented Nigeria from moving forward is the division along many lines - ethnic, religious, economic and political - and sometimes these tensions boil over into violence....claiming hundreds and thousands of lives.

On the unity aspect, I feel the game of football unites Nigerians.

I've never seen Nigerians so united, patriotic and passionate whenever they're watching the National team play the game of football.

Imo...football is the only thing that brings a muslim, christian, Igbo, Yoruba, hausa...etc together.

How did I fall your hand?
I spoke the reality! Remove this oil today and we have a situation where there is no monthly allocation to states, that will be the end of Nigeria.

You said you can now see the reason Nigeria cannot not be united? Tell me what your got from my post or perhaps spew as you called it.

Nigeria can never be united especially along the Southern/Northern (especially core north) axis. National issues will always be seen from ethnic/religious differences.

The only reason we have not started another full scale war is because the South is ~cool headed".
it is wisdom to negotiate Nigeria and now is the time.

If we are truly concerned about understanding our differences, we would go beyond quoting Sardauna and accept that Nigeria was not meant to be anything more than a British company. Nigeria is not a nation and would never be. The true nations within and adjacent to the Nigerian geographical expression should be allowed to secede peacefully. Anything short of that would be self deception and postponement of the D-day.
