Who Is The Problem Of The North? by manosteel(m): 5:34am On Jan 11, 2013
I saw this on facebook and i felt i should share it here.

Am not a fan of GEJ but What do the northerners want? The north should not blame the president or government for its woes. What exactly do the northerners want? Most of the top positions in goverment are occupied by northerners, yet they remain unhappy with poverty and illiteracy being common place"! **Vice President - North **Speaker House of Reps - North **PDP National Chairman - North **PDP acting BOT chairman - North **Head of Service - North **INEC Chairman - North **Inspector General of Police - North **CBN Governor - North **Chief Justice of federation - North **President Court of Appeal - North **EFCC Chairman - North **President Federal high court - North **National Security Adviser - North **Chief of Defense Staff - North **Controller, Customs Service - North **Controller Prison Services - North **Richest man in Africa - North. **85% of Petroleum Marketers in Nigeria -Northerners **80% of Oil Block Owners in Nigeria -Northerners Yet, the Poorest states in Nigeria and Educationally backward areas in Nigeria are in the North. Now ask yourself, who is the problem of the North? Northerners or GEJ?

The problem of the north is late Lord Lugard and the unfortunate existence of the north with Nigeria...aside that nothing and no-one is the problem of the north..
Re: Who Is The Problem Of The North? by CROWE: 6:53am On Jan 11, 2013
The problem of the north is ideology, Islamic states all over the world have a tendency to care more about what is going on elsewhere that worrying about what is going on in their homes. The northern governors refused state police on the grounds that the Souths desire for it is suspicious, at no point did they consider what Nigeria as a whole and their states stood to gain from it, they just cared about stopping the south from getting something that they wanted, that is Nigeria's problem, the north who have all the power are not a progressive and forward thinking people. I dunno what is best for Nigeria but I do know that what is best for the 23 non sharia states is to break away as a union and I can bet you anything we will have a North and South Korea situation here is as early as 20 years.

*That is not to say Islam is at fault, it is not, it just happens to be more compatible with people of an unfortunate mindset when human development is considered*

Chairman of SMEDAN... North, chairman of NIGERIAN BOUNDRIES COMMISSION....north, Chairman of EFCC.... North, chief clark of the national assembly..... North, almost all key agencies are headed by the north and this country is growing in Geometric Regression. Yet some people are contemplating giving the presidency to the North in 2015. Lets see how it plays out.

And that won't happen in the nearest future (2019 inclusive)
@op; even if you make him the president of america, An hausa man would always be shallow minded, thinks only of himself and nobody else, selfish, boastful, and ignorant.
They feel nigeria's leadership is their birthright, since they have 19 northern states in nigeria,we now know better.
An average hausa man in politics is not interested in development, he only thinks of sharing the national cake within his immediate family.
Leadership in the north is nothing to write home about, they empower their 'loyal' youth only during election with arms just to get into power and afterwards they forget them and keep making promises they would never keep.
I have lived in the north for a long time, politics is a means of survival over here infact its a do or die affair....
Shame on the northern leaders of our time.

Shame on the northern leaders of our time.

I am afraid our time has nothing to do with it, a friend of mine is from Iran, the country was great before the Islamic revolution, a bunch of people who hate humanity spoil the name of Islam by using it as an excuse to destroy our societies, the days of radical mindset changes by force are over so what I am saying is whether now or in 50 years the rulers from the north will continue to work against Nigeria as their ideals and values are not going to go away and we cannot force it, we need to free ourselves of them. We cannot educate them or change their ideology, they will simply accuse us of trying to brainwash them with western sins and start to kill us.

So much for asking northerners and southerners answering. They always want to claim they know the north always and would even argue with a northerner about what he thinks and feels always.Allow them speak!
That said i still go with certain views here.quality education, visionary leadership and religious scholars of both faiths/devout followers. Its more about hearts and minds here.

Quality education would empower them to think beyond there present limits and aspire for more that the world offers them peacefully.

Visionary leadership, people who think ahead and work in line with that to deliver on what best will take people to the promise land. Not people who divide along faith or tribe.don't keep your thoughs on this to Muslims, because xtians are fully doing same. Its both ways. You have a xtian leadership he rallies his fellow religious people to hijack activities and ensure they dominate everything not on merits but because he feels he is helping his own.Even secretly people from his faith would ask that of him.Forget the open love.It is what this political elements do in secret to ensure things around them dominate that kills unity.from the tribe to faith or political clique. If they can remove that and work honestly with persons that want a change for the better not sentiments.

religious extremism is another major killer that i even feel people who claim moderation may not really be moderate but just do that out of shame the public could think of them harshly. Alot happens here and its also from the entire religious groups excluding paganism for now.How is that? You lay emphasis on educating your followers the ills of the other group to make them hate everything about them is the hate needed start any religious intolerance.Am a muslim and i can tell you,i have also being to some xtians occasions to rejoice with friends but just some how you find religious leaders spew intolerance or sentiments. We all know this.People simply pretend. The day someone would begin to rise in the place of worship to say sir i love my neighbor and i think you are wrong about your views, then a change could start there. The preachers know what we like and know what could trigger us.destruction is easier so is the under lying elements that make them happen. In this instance Can someone show me the convicted mass killers of Dogo na hawa(approx 400 xtains) amonsgt the fulanis or beroms that killed people in Kuru karama (150 muslims)? They live amongst us and attend same religious place of worship with us and we know them. How long would we protect them and how long would we groom more extremist. When do we tell them to stop? that man or child or woman is my neighbor and not everyone you say is my enemy.

The problem with Nigeria was that the founding fathers wanted freedom from the English but they had no vision for what kind of state they wanted to make so once they got freedom the nation had no direction and fell into limbo, when you are not working towards any particular goal things tend to go wrong, now the south has a vision and the north doesn't like it, they'd prefer we become like Afghanistan, Iran and Egypt. Somebody start a campaign to break away from the northern sharia states, I'd support that, after all 2015 is either a northern president or conflict, we don't need such a backward union.

Does anyome feel that I am getting a tad radical? grin

I think it is wrong to equate the number of political appointees of a region with their development (in the real sense of it). In Nigeria, the great factor here is the sharing of the national cake. One state in the south-south for instance, get revenue allocation much more higher than a whole region in the north. This is the Issue with the poverty in the north.

Really, so the northern states without oil money they are screwed, do you know that there are no natural resources in Germany, nothing whatsoever, no lead no copper nothing, yet it is one of the most developed and richest countries on the world, also Japan has nothing either and they are the third richest country in the world, Kenya has no natural resources yet it is the largest economy is east Africa. States like Anambra, Imo and Abia are just as poor as most other states in Nigeria, they aren't oil producing states, these are the most developed states in Nigeria with the best health standards like Lagos and the highest literacy rates in the country.

Seriosly, how many countries in the world produce oil, there is no oil in Singapore btw. It is because on that kind of thinking that we are were we are today. The oil revenue in Nigeria belongs to the oil producing states and the federal government, the rest of the Nigerian states need to figure out how to make their own money, there is nothing but desert in Nevada so they decided to turn Las Vegas into a casino in order to make money, maybe they could have been like our North and waited for government hand out, every state needs to make their own money and give to the government, that is the way developed countries work. The north are responsible for their own plight.

. . . .
“North ought to hold political power, but the North now is nothing in Nigeria. The economic power is the West, whether you like it or not. Take the statistics of the banks in this country, the financial houses, the corporate organizations; tell me who manages and who owns them.
“The commercial activities in this country are in the East. In my own local village, we have energetic boys, but even if it is anything, it is from the Igboman that I get it".
